  1. Maybe to provide a transfer to the at Jay St? Doesn't look like there's work being done on the Broadway side of the Manhattan Bridge
  2. Will ATO help with the trains crawling thru Queens Plaza? The trains in both directions take longer to platform compared to pre CBTC , especially if the home signals at the ends of the platforms are red. Even more so for the n/b coming out of the 11 st cut, way worse with CBTC than the old timers/wheel detectors. Also feels like speed limits were reduces on the n/b local between Queens Plaza and 46th... Otherwise I agree the line as a whole moves better during the rush
  3. VG8 - the past few weeks there were delays in seeing trips (but not OMNY card balances) posted on the site. When I rode this week, the trips showed up after 5 to 15 minutes as usual, so I think thats been fixed.
  4. I'm surprised that the fare capping was an unforeseen requirement, considering the specs dictated that capping needed to be a part of OMNY
  5. Like the contactless capping in London, the capping period will be fixed Monday-Sunday, so it's not a replica of the current weekly pass. Capping will also be a 4 month pilot. Nevertheless this good news for OMNY users and a good way to test the system. In my opinion I'm sure we will see more capping schemes and time based passes come to OMNY before Metrocard is gone.
  6. Someone on youtube posted a video of an operating in APTM between 21st and Forest Hills. It shows a blurry view of the CBTC screen through the RFW, along with a front view. The OP noted the bar on the left is moving block distance to the next train and the circle in the middle turns yellow to indicate overspeed, otherwise it looks like a speedometer of some sort. While not much can be seen , it gives a very basic idea of ATPM. Interesting.
  7. Is the Jamaica bound express track in full CBTC mode between Roosevelt and Forest Hills? I took a ride on that section earlier this week (not when there were problems), the automatic signals were showing normal aspects and the flashing green was only on the approach to and within Roosevelt and Forest Hills station limits. Not like 36th to Roosevelt where almost all the automatics are either removed or dark
  8. QBL had a CBTC meltdown tonight, the growing pains continue
  9. I hope thats true. The new Boston ones will be the same design as OMNY, so I would imagine the same for PATH. Part of the whole OMNY concept was one card, cross selling fares, etc hence my comment but I could be wrong
  10. While not explicitly MTA related, PATH signed a separate contract with Cubic to install tap and go "similar to OMNY", along with their own fare card. Seems to fly in the face of them being an OMNY affiliate https://www.panynj.gov/port-authority/en/press-room/press-release-archives/2021-press-releases/path-system-to-install-next-generation-tap-and-go-fare.html
  11. Board docs today give an update on QBL west, 8th Ave, Culver CBTC. QBL East CBTC award is in there too.
  12. No, but if the functionality is anything like DC (SmarTrip) or Chicago (Ventra) , the OMNY app may need to be released first. Those cards require an app to get a new virtual card or convert a plastic one to virtual. No real advantage of one at this point: there's no exclusive OMNY-card-only passes like in Chicago, and tourists here can use open payments. DC only has a physical or virtual card, no open payment, and the online loads are delayed and only available at certain stops unlike OMNY
  13. Honestly I just like the convenience of autoload like how easypay does it, especially since the balance thresholds are lower. Also I don't always know what my route is in advance (subway or express bus) and they send an email with each manual reload. I would not bother with the card at all but my pretax benefit provider doesn't offer contactless and they screwed up adding the card to mobile wallet, but they at least dont block OMNY online reloads anymore.
  14. Supposedly the first few will come later this year to Penn, Grand Central, and Woodside
  15. Has anyone turned on the autoreload function for the OMNY card? If so how long does it take for it to kick in? Mine still shows as reload in progress a few hours after it was activated with only 5 bucks on the card.
  16. Also easier to use with pretax benefits cards. My provider, however, is blocking online OMNY reloads , claiming we can still use metrocards. But they dont block easypay or OMNY reader transactions!
  17. Yep, they even ask you to confirm the "reload" amount on the touchscreen
  18. I was able to get my hands on an OMNY card at 711 in Manhattan. Several observations after registering it on the OMNY site (excuse the formatting, on mobile) No minimum balance is required, unless you choose automatic $ reload (see below) Automatic reload is possible in 1 of 2 ways. When your balance drops below a certain amount (lowest balance threshold is $10, minimum reload amount is $20) or On a preset monthly/weekly schedule, minimum reload amount $20 Separate balances are kept for regular amounts and pretax commuter benefit balances. Balance history is displayed as an option when viewing the current balance The Charges tab also shows purchases/reloads for OMNY cards in addition to transit rides I was not able to add pretax value from my debit card, it looks like my provider either blocked the OMNY site or hasnt whitelisted it.
  19. Wallet, travel cards, add travel card. The OMNY card may have a barcode and magnetic strip, in addition to contactless, according to the example graphic when trying to add one. This is probably to aid third party sales/reloads if true.
  20. The plan was end of this month (September). The site update shows that you can add an OMNY card to your account but that it's still testing and to check back in a few weeks. The update is the one referenced in my last post so we should be hearing something very soon
  21. One of my missing charges from the above post ended up appearing on the site 3 hours later.... On another note the OMNY site will be down Friday overnight into Saturday early AM for "maintenance". Let's see if there are any interesting enhancements
  22. Has anyone else noticed missing trips on their OMNY account? I've had 2 missing in the past 2 days, one subway one bus, and a few others that come to mind. I used a mix of physical cards and google pay.
  23. Thank you and all the other employees for the hard work RTOMan
