  1. SI local is 60MPH max 65 SI Express is 85MPH max 90 That it according to iPhone 4's GPS
  2. The fastest train in NYC (exc. LIRR and MNR) is SIRX to tottenville 8.5 minutes from St George to New Dorp at a top speed of 85MPH
  3. What would be the fastest local bus in NYC? I'm guessing S74 Late Night
  4. There are 19 buses waiting outside wagner, making it the second busiest school tripper terminal. #1 is tottenville, with actual limited-stop S78 service in the morning
  5. That hasbeen asked before. The answer is yes. You see, the S61 and S62 are. A bit crowded during weekends. Maybe 12-minute on the S61 may be ideal but it wouldnt connect to the ferry. The solution? Add S66 service to the mix every half hour and you can even serve the forest shopping centers now. Of course weekend S60 customers may come back, bjt that is less than 200 per weekend.
  6. Has anyone noticed countdown clocks in staten island? I saw one on hylan blvd right before the hylan plz. Another was on stapleton in front of Deal$
  7. How bout we make the S77 end in that hospital near bay ridge i think in crospey ave? Since the S77 is running on castleton to west brighton, the S42 can be extended via the S44 on lafayette and henderson and end in west brighton with the S77. I also already proposed a S99 from the ferry to newark airport using forest and goethals. Now the S44, S46, S48, S52, S78 will see crowding relief with the new services as well as the S53 and S79 since some customers will now be using the S77.
  8. We can add LTD service along the S46 from west brighton Thdn bring it down the S78 to tompkins and then the S52 to fingerboard into the bridge and follow the S79SBS to brooklyn Stops: Rich terr-bdwy Castleton-bdwy C-bard av IS61 Cebra-Victory St Pauls-Victory or bay-victory Tompkins and broad (where 74 and 78 meet near romeos pizza) Tompkins-Hylan Fingerboard-Narros rd N or S 92 st 86 st-4 av on the side of the S79 Have it run every 10 during rush in the peak direction, 15 off peak direction, middays and 30 in evenings. It can run every 30 minutes to coordinate with the ferry on weekends. You can also add supplemental service as needed. For example, add two trips to IS61 in the morning, similar to the current S42. Finally, lets call this route the S77
  9. How about a S99 along victory and forest into NWA. Frequency weekdays: Rush: 2 per ferry. Middays: 15 Eve 20 Weekend Rush(NOONPM) 15 weekend AM/Eve 30 And a shuttle from bayyone to forest av stopping at innis st (S89 shortened) -40-20 40-20-20-40 40-20-20-40 Along with the LTD's, we will have served all 3 bridges
  10. Okay how about we propose the S99+ Select Bus Service through forest and south aves and still keep the 9698 during rush and even only. The other option will be to run the S88+ Select Bus Service through the S78 route down tompkins and then use the S52 route to fingerboard rd to get to the Xpressway. We also need S96-full weekday LTD and S94 7-day limited. 99: 15 20 12 30. 88: 15 15 12 30. 96: 7 12 10 20. 94: 10 15 10 30 30 15 15 20. 30 30 30 30. 30 20 20 30 30 20 20 30. 30 30 30 30. 30 30 20 30
  11. Ali know is, the S46 can have people standing at 2am. And the M15 local breezes at night at a 30 minute headway. It has 0 ppl below chinatown and it's supposed to be #1 in the sity
  12. The S53 isn't fast because I assume there are a lot of reds since it passes many big streets. LTD wouldn't solve that. This is the only route I think shud have traffic signal priority on SI, since it is expensive.
  13. I saw the S62 run on an old express model twice. I've seen multiple S61/62/91/92's run on S79 SBS wrap models and even rode it once but i never thought i'd seen an express bus model. The first time, i saw it on victory/forest tuesday morning, so i thought maybe it was a X30 or a not in service but the display said otherwise. The second time that tuesday i saw it when i was in keyfood victory/bay, so that erased any doubt that the S62 i saw in the morning was a s62. If i see it 2mm, ill try to get the bus # down so you can bustime it and ride it or look it up.
  14. When i said 2 full route buses await every ferry, i meant during the peak direction. (6-9AM, 3-6Pm). kind of like the S98 how it comes at 5:30 and 5:31 except have them both go to travis or the mall. Also, i wanted only the S61 to go to grymes hill. the 91 ca stay on victory. I thought the reroute would most likely serve the purpose of helping S46 students to get to IS61 since they are overcrowded. Also would provide better service to students to CSI. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ I also would like for there to be a 1-seat ride route (lets call this the S73) from St George to Bay ridge It would run along the S78, until at tompkins It would swich to the S52 untill the narros rds and hop on the SIE to reach brooklyn using the S53 route. They can run at these frequencies: S73: 15 20 15 20 +S79+: 12 10 9 12 20 15 15 30 12 10 10 15 30 15 15 30 15 12 10 12 S78: 20* 15 15 20 15 15 10 15 20 15 15 20 * Additional school service could be provided ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The S89, S93, and S98 need off-peak service as follows: S89: 12 20 15 30 S93: 10 20 15 30 S98: 10 15 10 30 S48: 10 15 10 20 60 30 30 30 20 20 30 30 15 15 30 60 30 30 30 15 15 30 60 Still overkill? Maybe it is. But this is also overkill (frequency compared to ridership*): S55/56: 30* 30* 30 * Not counting school trippers
  15. Why is the S66 in a U shape? Instead, why not have it follow the S46 route until broadway, send it down bdwy, use forest to reach Jewett, run on victory until CSI, then turn left inside the college instead of going straight, follow the loop rd bus route until reaching the S93 terminal. The 61/62 can run with more frequency during the peak hours and have the 61 go to Grymes hill all times (91 will run straight on victory), but DO have the S61 run to the ferry i the AM peak. New frequencies: S61 15 15 15 15 S62: 15 15 15 15 60 S66: 15 20 15 30 30 15 15 20 30 15 15 20 60 S91/S92: 2 full-route buses await every ferry 30 15 15 30 30 20 20 30 60
  16. Can i have a S98 to Newark Airport SBS? S98 Newark Airport (airport sign) S98 via Forest ave S98 + Select Bus Service + with flashing blue lights?
  17. All other express routes may stay the same. Limiteds stay the same unless frequencies are shown for them. The Ferry arrives 3 minutes earlier to help buses leave the terminal on time.
  18. S78: 15 10 15 20 20 10 10 20 20 10 10 15. 10 10 +SBS79+: 6 8 6 10. 12 8 7 12. 12 9 8 15 X1: 10 10 10 15. 60 20 15 15 20. 60 30 15 15 15 30 60. 4 4 Bus route: AM NOON PM EVE. Sat- AM Noon PM Eve Sun- AM Noon Eve Nite. Peak AM. peak Pm Routes that dont go to the ferry or manhattan dont nessesarily have a peak direction If weekend only has 2, suppose its Noon/PM
