I’m curious, what about those buses do you dislike?
Me personally I’ve always found the NYCT units to be slow when accelerating and the bus feels like it drags. The MTA bus units were always my favorite from the bunch.

The TA programs the speed on these buses before they go out on revenue service.

The only buses on the NF that are extremely fast are the 4800s but, they have poor suspensions.

Thank you! Yes, fingers are crossed. I was having car issues and took an Uber and got there late. Late is late and I've taken responsibility. Praying for the best.

Understandable. Even myself, when I have a student for line training, I expect for them to be there early, before me is a plus. We have so much to cover, and late is a no no.

    Hello,

I arrived late for my orientation training and was turned away with a resignation letter. I was told I have to wait to get into the next training class but It's not guaranteed. Has anyone experienced this?

That’s a bad example showing up to work on the first day. They have a zero tolerance of tardiness. Chances are, depending on hiring needs, you may be able to attend the next class. That’ll be up to the school room Chief and HR at zerega.

just cross your fingers, and hope for the best. But I’m sure they’ll call you back.

Is there a Formula we have to study regarding the pay?

Read all the Bulletins, Directives, Rules & Regulations Dept of Buses "The Rule Book" - ((Ask your depot GS Support for that book)), 19A rules, and Code of Conduct,  Ask a Post Dispatchers questions about tricks and tips on road operations.

The math part is a hit or miss, So far both SLD exams had no math. If there is one, learn recaps.

The last two recent exams were into two sections. "Job abilities, and General Knowledge"

    Good luck.

  5.                                                                       Surface Line Dispatcher (OA) Promotion Exam answer key

The exam has been broken up into two "2" sections. Section one "1" is "Abilities", and Section two "2" is "Knowledge". You must pass BOTH (70 % passing score) sections in order to get the final weighted score.

The Abilities section is from questions 1-36 (45% weight)

The Knowledge section is from questions 37-80 (55% weight)

90% is the highest score you can get if you get all the questions right.

Seniority credit will be added afterward to get the total weight score average.

Lol. So i was scheduled to have my sleep apnea overnight test done next Wednesday the 15th. Today i get a text/email from the Doctor saying everything confirmed and what my deductible would be. This one night of test is over $17,000 and my deductible around $2,600. Are these people on Meth? I had to start calling around for other places that can do the study, found a place in Brooklyn called Sunset Sleep Diagnostics that booked me over the phone for next Wednesday night also and they were familiar with clearing folks for MTA pre-employment.

Thats where some of transit employee’s go to every other year since our medical insurance fully covers everything.

After you pass the exam and your list number is reached, is the interview also evaluated as part of the hiring process? For example in DSNY, the only thing that matters is if you score high enough on the exam for your number to be called within the next few years. The interview there is more of a formality and not counted as part of hiring (you still have to pass physical and medical).

It’s more like paper work process and drug test and you go home and wait for a call/email back for Medical process.

  8. **Want to give an update**

As of March 2023, The new training buses will be on the New Flyers XDs. Students will be assigned for the 7-10 day initial training out of  Brooklyn Depots, MJQ "Manhattan", and the Bronx, The new student instruction "Handbook" will have information based on the New Flyers buses instead of the Orion NG's hybrid buses. The current class at Zerega 7-day training is currently training on the New Flyers and will be the new training bus going forward.

As part of the mentor line trainers, we were promised to receive the new student handbook once there are available.

The depot is 25 years old, but in actuality, the building is 57 years old. Quill Depot used to be a storage facility and headquarters for Greyhound buses from 1966-1996. Greyhound sold it to the MTA, which then renovated and opened the depot in 1998 as Westside Depot. It was renamed Michael J. Quill Depot two years later.

    Interesting history.

The N Y Post article mentioned only the express buses parked on the roof.

From 9am - 5PM Express buses parked on the roof, after those hours, 120 buses are the home buses that belongs to Quill which parks on the roof when the lower 2 level is full. Some Electric buses, OOS and artic's  are parked on the roof after the express buses pulls out.

Has anyone went from TA to OA? I live in the Bronx and if I were to take the dispatcher test I would HATE to work in Brooklyn or Queens. I got hired about a month ago. Took 0100 but they never called me.

If you're TA, why would you want to be rehired as an OA?.... If you're currently TA as an Bus operator, you have the privilege to work out of 5 borough except for a request have to be made in order to transfer to an ATU depot representation. What do I mean by that?...Queens, Staten Island is transfers only, and its based of Seniority. Meanwhile, IF you're a TA B/O, you will be able to work within Brooklyn TA Surface and OA Surface depots.

If you were to become a SLD as an TA, you will only be allowed to Supervise within the TA divisions in Dept of Buses.

As an OA operator, You are allowed to work within its surface of Bronx and Manhattan, and Brooklyn TA surface depots.

If you're promoted into SLD as an OA, you will only allowed to work within the The Bronx/Manhattan unless you pick into Bus Command Center in Brooklyn.

To sum up your question, The choice is up to you. If your plans is to become an SLD, you have to make a decision now for what agency you would like to be hired. Just remember, this job is all about seniority! Transferring back and forth will move you down the seniority pool.
