  1. So why are people suddenly reporting scrap buses ending up in the recycling plant?
  2. No idea. The accident was this morning so just wait a bit for someone with the actual info to come forward with it.
  3. They are essential to the operations there as they only have 34 Novas there, so service would be extremely screwed if the 12 Orions were to go at once with no replacements.
  4. That's too small of a testing pool to determine the effectiveness of the barriers. Not all stations were created equal so it's better to test it out on multiple stations to see where the barriers could be most effective.
  5. Looks like it. IIRC, 02 is used for training while 03 was lost to an accident.
  6. Even with the slow speeds, people can be hit and/or killed by a heavy slow moving train. Some people are stupid enough to push a person onto the tracks at random even if its at a terminal.
  7. That user was not referring to where the bus currently operates. They're arguing that 4630 was the highest numbered 2009 model of the NG hybrids. As for the debate at hand, I remember TTMG and other older rosters categorizing the 4600s at JFK as 2010 models in their old roster pages for years. Most sites, including mine, followed that piece of info for years. Now TransitMan is stating that only 4656-onwards are the only 2010 models. It would be nice to see a definitive clarfication, though that in itself is a rather small and somewhat insignificant thing to argue about.
  8. I wouldn't go ahead and say that its definitely retired. Several buses that sat in that area of the lot came back years down the line. 6372 and 4137 come to mind and even 5656 when it had two halfs of different units put together.
  9. So the NJT board voted unanimously in favor of the fare increase. The 15% fare hike will start on July 1st, with a possible 3% increase each year starting in 2025. The Flexpass discount is also set to be eliminated if the fare hike goes through. https://www.nj.com/news/2024/04/nj-transit-votes-to-raise-fares-15-despite-protests-and-pleas.html https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/nj-transit-fare-hike-vote-cost-train-bus/5306713/ Shows the chart with some of the new fare prices.
  10. It's a full-length train for the Rockaway Park shuttle during the summer (Both train op and conductor present) unlike normal Shuttle service where it's a 5-car OPTO operation.
  11. OPTO. The costs would go up with more cars out for longer and having a conductor working the line instead of having the train operator do double-duty with a shortened train which is done on those shuttles and weekend trains.
  12. They don't have the link to the tracker on their site so I wonder how and why you're still using it.
  13. You applied for positions at MTA New York City Transit & MTA Bus Company. NYCT are the bus depots in Brooklyn, Queens, & Staten Island. MTA Bus Company is the former private bus operators. I would go to the Transit Employment section of the Transit Forums here: https://www.nyctransitforums.com/forum/19-transit-employment/ People like @+Young+ should give better explanations regarding this.
  14. It was supposedly a route that ran between Willowbrook Mall and Little Falls if Wikipedia is to be believed.
  15. The swap was even with 26 Novas going to Jamaica, with 26 Xcelsiors going the other way. Gun Hill ended up losing 7490 to Grand in September.
  16. Not sure why they need to cover for a unit that's at Grand Ave and was already covered with a Nova in the swap with Gun Hill.
  17. Unless there's a weather delay or an ungodly amount of injury time is added, there's little chance that the two group stage games end past 11:30. The third game, the semi-final match, kicks off at 8 PM with it possibly ending at 10-11 depending if the game goes to extra time or penalties.
  18. The stadium will not be done before the World cup. When City Group made the stadium plans public, they stated that it might be completely built by 2027. The venues for the Men's World Cup were already set beforehand.
  19. Note that and Trains are suspended between South Ferry/Chambers St and 96th Street as someone got struck by a train at 28th St. Trains are being re-routed over to the Lexington Ave line.
