Unless there's a weather delay or an ungodly amount of injury time is added, there's little chance that the two group stage games end past 11:30. The third game, the semi-final match, kicks off at 8 PM with it possibly ending at 10-11 depending if the game goes to extra time or penalties.
The stadium will not be done before the World cup. When City Group made the stadium plans public, they stated that it might be completely built by 2027. The venues for the Men's World Cup were already set beforehand.
Note that and Trains are suspended between South Ferry/Chambers St and 96th Street as someone got struck by a train at 28th St. Trains are being re-routed over to the Lexington Ave line.
4027, 4048, 4152, 4163 are still in service. Most of these were in service less than a week ago, so I would not bother judging a bus' status until 3 or more weeks have passed.
IIRC, work was being done south of 59th as the ran via the from 59th to West 4th and Trains ran via the to Whitehall. The GO was on March 13-16, 2020, just before the stay at home order was implemented.
That happened nearly 5 years ago when service was cut for a few weekends south of 96th Street. Trains were sent to 145th to supplement service in Manhattan.
Why send the to the 8th Ave line when there's no need for it that weekend with the and running fine that weekend. Some of these ideas to try to shove the to 2nd Avenue are a bit much for that one weekend.
I would argue to making the bus system free, but it's pretty f'n obvious not a single person would want to have that conversation without screaming entitlement or not wanting to pay the taxes necessary to fund it. And I recognize that this is a complicated subject topic altogether that can't be solved easily (as much as people like to think it would be by just throwing more police onto buses).
Better to do that than open pre-maturely and have an accident that gets more negative PR than this. I do get the complaints about the time it’s taken to complete one side of the renovation.
This is something that happens often on almost all routes. That and more people are using OMNY, so I would not make a judgment call just for looking at a stop for the amount of time it takes to finish lunch.
