a side note: trains with external doors are in theory safer to operate with PSD (less space to have stuffs trapped between the train and platform doors)
-
doors on the s-stocks are sliding on the outsie of the car
-
make sense because you hv more ac units (2 vs 10) to handle the smell lol

imagine next time a show about the Bronx: "yo this is the bronx bound train. Welcome to the bronx m**th**f**ker" 😂

OMNY Implementation/Metro-Card Retirement Discussion Thread

any news on JFK AirTrain getting OMNY? I think there is one of the places need OMNY the most, since not everyone traveling from outside of NYC has metrocard 😴 -
R262 (R62/R62A Replacement) - Information & Discussion

It would be a maintenance nightmare to have R188s with two very different propulsions (decades apart....) Not the case for R262 vs R188/R142 -

Who knows. They might use a different model of inverter on the 262s. -
Bad odors from the bodies are manageable in open gangway cars, but NOT with cars full of trash.... 😂 I guess the homeless people in the clip were practicing how to make the entire train smell bad when open gangway train began service (jk) Seriously, I really don't wanna that becomes a reason (or excuse?) we can't have nice stuffs. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Simple. You could just wrap the interiors like what they did for R62 in times sq . But does it mean "compatible with the modern world" to you? 😒
-
30+ years old trains are common around the world, and can be compatible with the modern world... ....if they received midlife refurbishment For examples, C151 in Singapore have similar age to R68; Some M Stock in Hong Kong have ages of R46. But their interiors have better shapes than some of our NTTs lol It is too late to do retrofits on R68s and R62 now. MTA missed the opportunity to do that 10 years ago.

Some R62s are indeed crappy, but not because of that minor "issue" 🤦♂️ What make those R62s crappy are their HVAC units -
.....maybe 70s but definitely not ww2 lol R68/R68a aren't that old. They look old because they didn't receive retrofits when they hit 15-20 years old.

Pretty sure they will reinforce the size walls + add new columns in the middle of the "platform" before removing any old sturctures
