  1. a broken 3rd rail at the junction where the 6th Avenue Line and the 53rd Street Line meet stops all (E)(F) and (M) trains from running through and it is impassable. (B) and (D) are not affected

Here is my second post, showing what I would do if this delay occurred on a weekend:

(E): Trains operate from Jamaica Center to Lexington Avenue-63rd Street. All trains trapped on the 8th avenue line will be put into service on the  (C) train to increase service.

    (F) Train operates in two sections: from 179th street to Canal Street via the 63rd Street Connector and Broadway express to Canal Street (local platforms), relaying on the tracks leading to the lower level of City Hall Station. The other section will operate from Coney Island Stillwell Avenue to 42nd Street-Bryant Park, and operating via the (not running) (B) line to 145th street.

(Q): Trains extended from 57th Street-7th Avenue to 179th Street via the (F) line.

I will make two posts; one if this occurs on a weekday and another if it occurs on a weekend. This is mine for a weekday:

(E): Train shortened to only operate from Jamaica Center to Lexington Avenue-53rd Street. All trains trapped on the 8th Avenue Line will be put on the  (C) Train to increase service.

(F): Split into Two sections: From 179th Street to Whitehall Street (BMT Broadway Line) Via 63rd Street Connector and Broadway Express (If Whitehall Street backs up, some trains will terminate at Canal Street Station, relaying on the tracks leading to the never-opened lower platform at City Hall station. The other section will operate from Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue to 42nd Street-Bryant Park, terminating on the two local platforms. Staff will be present to help direct passengers to the correct platform. Some trains may also operate via the (G) line to even out service on the two sections.

(G): Trains extended to Forrest Hills-71st Avenue from Court Street.

(M):Trains Terminate at 42nd Street-Bryant park on the two local platforms, passing through the crossovers between 34th Street-Herald Square and 42nd Street-Bryant Park. Staff will be present to help direct passengers to the correct platform.

    (Q) some trains may operate via the 63rd Street connector on the (F) line if trains become too crowded.

In my next post: I will show what I would do if this occurs on a weekend.

  3. I need to get this off my chest. I like how some people want new trains but older buses staying on our streets. There's no logic in that.

I don't understand what you mean by that. Could you please clarify? I guess people want new subways because it is very big and represents New York City in the world.

  4. Its going to be interesting to see how popular this hobby will be once the RTSs, Orion Vs and D60s retire. Same goes for when the 179s clean house of the remaining 60 foot SMEEs...

One thing I noticed is the NYC transitfan community seems to have had far more people than TF communities in other cities, most people will agree that NYC is the most entertaining when it comes to a hobby like this one.. I honestly think that this hobby will downsize greatly once everything older than the green sign LF Orions and 46s are retired.

I doubt that will happen. As soon as those older buses are cleared out, I bet that people will begin to fan the next set of vehicles, like the early Orion VIIs and the R46's. While I bet that a lot of you do not like the Orion VIIs now, I bet that when it is near the end, you will all be talking about "how they were great vehicles". I am personally doing that in Toronto now, where Orion VII retirements are set to begin in about a year. My point is that once these old vehicles leave, I think that most transit fans will simply move on to the next vehicles (i.e. the ones being delivered to replace those older vehicles and the vehicles that are next in line for retirement).

  5. Am I glad I worked in Manhattan today. Just shot it on the M3.

On another note, 5607 was on the M15 SBS earlier. It's on the local now.

Sent from my Motorola Moto G.

In addition to that, bustime shows two 56xx D60HFs on M116. I always though it used rigid buses.

  6. I have a board of the TTC bus fleet circa 1999, a collection of transfers from the early 2000s (I need to go the ought them all), a model of TTC PCC 4676, a model of an MTA fishbowl suburban on route X27, models of two london buses (a selkent E400 and a red arrows Citaro G). Additionally, I havre a bunch of route notices and the oddest thing in my collection is a TTC garbage bag (at doors open toronto, it was all they had in terms of bags.) I intend to keep the garbage bag.

  7. Erica, that was rush hour, 5051 is done off the B24 - and in the depot now, and 5180 on the B47 RIGHT NOW towards Woodhull! Happy hunting.

The thing about Grand Avenue is, they have a pull in-pull out kind of thing going on. When a bus driver finishes a trip in most other situations, especially busy depots, they switch drivers along the route or at a terminal. I'm sure you've seen this practice a lot in many terminus-hub areas. For Grand Av, they don't do that. It's common practice in GA to send a bus back to the depot after a trip is finished.

Why don't they do change-offs on the route? Is GA far off from a major corridor?
