  1. The test is multiple choice but the more details you know the better
  2. Good Afternoon, I was wondering how (if) you could post pone a call back? I can’t get a hold of anyone at 180 and the voice mail is full. I talked to the union and they said they had no clue and not there territory. Long Story but I am an OA employee with 11 months on the job. I got called for TA 9604. I’m also about to take the rules and signals exam for LIRR so I’m trying to post pone the TA call back for as long as possible to go over to LIRR and if I don’t make it (or like it) I can go back to my position on 9604, is that even possible? Any insight would be amazing! Thank You!
  3. I got my second probie ride on the B37 (I was still on the list at the time but now hold a run). I made a road relief and he was already on the bus. He didn't say anything when he got off either, he called me on the radio during my 2nd trip and told me I had a good ride, and asked for the F/B info. It was my 6 month ride even though its almost my 8th month. A few senior people I talked to said I might only get 1 more ride because there backed up, they said to expect it somewhere in the last two weeks of probation. Either way I'm going to stay on my game and keep and eye out. I don't know how other people feel but I feel like my probation has gotten harder from like 6 months on. Mostly costumer issues; sleeping passengers requiring supervision to come out, had a super elevated race issue another night between two pax, amongst other things, but hey all part of the job
  4. That's funny I just had him today! My group at JGL just got articulated trained today, honestly felt easier turning then a 40 ft bus! I did feel like the pull in procedures were a little awkward to angle the bus! @Natalie Congrats on the day 7 pass!! Let us know where you land!
  5. I was able to pick Jackie Gleason on the board was (JGL, West Farms (with the most open placements almost half the class had to go there) , Fresh Pond, KB, and one other in the BX) First day they had us do more videos and meet with the union reps Second day I had a 13 hour run on the B8. Watched the first 3 runs, it was empty but you could tell he was pushing to be "on time" so you know the schedule is tight (I'm not even going to bother trying to keep up). We had a 2.5 hour swing, then he had me take the NB trip when we relived at 18th Ave. The second I got on the bus there was a lady screaming all hell no it's his first day. I do my service brake check and I wasn't expecting the bus to break as fast as the others we were training on on and it rock and this set the lady up even more (first time driving the 2010 new flyer too). She went up and down the bus telling everyone not to talk 'cause it was my first day (paraphrasing). She rode all the way to nostrand doing the same thing (ugh). I felt like it went alright, super never wrecking. We had a half trip nostrand to rock Ave and by the time I deadheaded I was behind another B8 so it was smooth. Not a terrible first day but was nervous, only comment was I needed to be more in my mirrors when going straight, he said I was fine on the turns just when I'm going straight I need to cycle a little more.
  6. I left out when I asked my Supt about lay offs he said they are to short to lay off and that "The MTA knows what it is doing" but only time will tell, He said they are short in OA,TA, and MTA Bus so we will see....... @lornaevo Worst case scenario maybe you can shed some light on recall rights? I have yet to see anything in any of the paperwork we have been given
  7. Equipment Training was a report time of 8:30 am on Wednesday to Jamaica we did New Flyer and Nova training; we went in circles around the service road of JFK Airport all Permits were prioritized for the training and then the people with CDLs followed. I was able to knock both buses out in 3 hours, then it was a boring day of riding in circles. Thursday was a Jamaica Depot report, at 8:30 am (if you had your CDL [Me]) and if you didn't it was a 06:00 Report to Eastchester (If you passed on day 7), we got the New Flyer and Nova again and made our way to Manhattan 125/Lex. People who didn't get to drive the day before were qualified on the drive over the 125th [we switch operators multiple times]. Once we got to 125th, we parked up and waited for anyone who didn't pass on day 7 (Today was the next qualification day) and once they passed they were put into the Nova and New Flyer and drove a few more city blocks. Since I knocked out both buses already I spent most of the day in the swing room at 125. Then we went back to Jamaica and we are now off for our RDOs. Maybe someone with a permit can shed some light on what happened at Eastchester. Sunday is a 08:00 report time to Zerega for HR stuff (for everyone permits and CDLs) and we were specifically told not to enter the building early because of the New Hire class and social distancing.
  8. I am going to take the Subway to the Railroad; I figured parking wasn't even worth the hassle , and the walk from LIRR didn't look bad. It is a different driver everyday, right? along with a different route? Also was there any consistency to your days off or was it different every week?
  9. Any Idea what line training will be like? Especially like what the schedule will be like, from what I put together from my Supt is your schedule will be all over the place for a while. I don't mind I just like knowing in advance
  10. To give you guys an update from my class (8/16/20) all passed today on Day 7; I didn't feel personally like the course was overly hard, just have to watch out for bikes and people! Mind you for my class Days 2-4 were trainwrecks we all felt like we weren't going to make it, yet all of us pulled through! You just have to listen and apply everything they tell you, We had 2 Permits and 1 License in the class. Supt even made me take the bus back through the Midtown Tunnel which was nerve wracking but like everything else they teach you, take your time and go slow!! We have to report for Equipment training tomorrow for the Nova Buses and the New Flyers
  11. So far each of us have done up and down the van wick exp from the Belt to College Point and the Belt Parkway from JFK to Coney Island. Focusing on driving in the right lane gauging merging traffic and not leaning to the right. Some of us on Day 1 drove on the Highway after practicing turns Day 2- Focused more and turns and the specific turns we have to make (Highway driving for everyone as well) Day 3- Bus Stops and Pretrip inspections as well as driving in "busy" Jamaica (around the LIRR Station and 168th and Hillside) practicing pull ups and pull ins up and down the Q6 (NIS obviously) and pivot points on the turns, covering your right and other methods in a busy setting. We did straight backing and a Obstructed view (blind spot) exercise. Luckily it only rained for our pretrip unlike @luiggi0102 Day 4- Going in and out of pillars under the subway, learning your pivot points and how to use your mirrors to your advantage. More Highway Driving for us and we did offset and parallel parking as well as tight left side turns. We went over the fare box as well and the wheelchair area. I agree but careful of your intake because of Corona there are a lot less places to go on the road, which we ran into a few times but good advice! :)
