  1. My idea is to extend the existing (G) Line to Astoria.

    21st St - Astoria

    Ditmars Blvd.

    Hoyt Ave.

    30th Ave.

    Broadway

    36th Ave - Ravenswood

    21st St. - Queensbridge (F)

    47th Ave - Van Alst

The existing Court Sq. (G) is extended to Queensboro Plaza and made a separate extension much like the (A) to Ozone Park.

  2. blah blah blah

It would be too expensive and take many years to construct a new tunnel under the E. River. Unless the tunnel would be almost entirely government funded, it's not gonna happen. Heck, the MTA doesn't even have the money to finish the portion in Manhattan, nevermind building an entire new tunnel.

If the MTA were to find gold and decide to build a connection into Brooklyn, I say Bronx's plan is good.

Would be a hassle to actually find space under Manhattan and Brooklyn to build a new tunnel. *cough* NIMBYs *cough*

  3. Picture this:

The 2010 budget cuts never happened, and it is the beggining of 2014, the time that the Montague Street tunnel is closed for reconstruction. How would service be ran?

Bonus: Imagine what would happen if the Cranberry Street tunnel closed at all times due to repairs from Hurricane Sandy.

    (M) Cut back to Chambers.

    (R) Does what it did.

(A), (C) Trains via (F) from W4 to Jay Street via Rutgers.

    (A) Trains local after Columbus Circle on 8th Ave.

Limited shuttle service runs single track from express W4 track to Fulton Street.

Shuttle bus service from Jay to High Street.

  4. Next, a runaway Q48 bus has crashed into a column near 111th Street, causing it to collapse. The police suspect someone was responsible for it, and went to 74th St-Broadway. There was a reckless driver that had this "race car", going at 50 mph, and didn't know about the closed road, and when seeing the closed road, crashed into another column at 74th Street-Broadway, and that collapsed onto Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue. Reroute service: (7)(E)(F)(M)(R).

    (7) Suspended.

    (E) Two Sections: WTC - Queens Plaza, 71st St - Jamaica Center

    (F) Two Sections: CI - Queensbridge, 71st St - 179th St.

    (M) Terminates at Chambers St.

    (R) Ends at 57th st - 7th Ave.

Seeing as this will be a probably a long term closure, the following shuttle bus routes will be put in place:

    - Route 1: Queensbridge - Queensboro Plaza - Queens Plaza - 71st Continental stopping at all (E) and (F) Stations.

    - Route 2: Queensboro Plaza - Queens Plaza - 71st Continental stopping at all (M) and (R) stations.

    - Route 3: Flushing - Queensboro Plaza stopping at all (7) stations

    - Route 3 LTD: Flushing - Queensboro Plaza stopping at only Flushing, Mets-Willets, Junction Blvd, and Queensboro Plaza.

    - Route 3X: Flushing - Queensboro Plaza stopping at all <7> stations.

Cross-Honoring in effect at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, and Woodside Stations.

  5. A nor'easter has destroyed Coney Island Yard and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, as well as the integrity of the Coney Island.

    You know what to do...

    (B) Bedford Pk - Kings Highway

    (Q) Astoria - Brighton Beach

    (D) 207th St - Bay Pkwy

    (N) Astoria - 86th St. (If not possible then Kings Hwy)

(B), (D) can get cars from Concourse and (N), (Q) from Jamaica.

  6. A switching issue at Essex Street has trains coming off the Williamsburg Bridge HAVING to go via the 6th Avenue line under all circumstances. No trains coming from Brooklyn off the Willy B can terminate at Essex. This will take a week to properly fix.

At the same time, a second switching issue has trains on the 8th Avenue local tracks at West 4th southbound automatically going to the 6th Avenue line. This also will take a week to fix.

(J), (Z) Trains terminate at Marcy Avenue, since there is no real good place to terminate close to Chambers St, Bowery.

Shuttle buses between Marcy Avenue and Broad St. (via Willy B)

    (E) Trains terminate at 2nd Avenue

    (C) Trains go via (F) and Rutgers until Jay St.

Next: The year is 1937 (http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/caption.pl?/img/maps/ind_1937.jpg) and the Cranberry Tunnel is closed, and Hudson Terminal (WTC) is closed, and trains cannot stop there. Reroute.

Lets assume that all lines run at 15TPH.

"When in doubt, ask a subway employee"

    Haha.

  7. This is more of a fantasy, but how about a Bronx-Queens Crosstown?

This would be the (O) line and go with the same lime green of the (G).

    Bronx Park (2)(5)

    E Tremont Ave

    Parkchester (6)

    Lafayette Avenue

    Lacombe Avenue-Pugsley Creek

    Classon Point

    - tunnel across the river - ending up at 150th Street in Queens.

    14th Avenue/150th Street

    Willets Point Blvd.

    Bayside Avenue

    33rd Avenue

    Murray Hill - LIRR Transfer

    - down Roosevelt Avenue -

    Parsons Blvd.

    Flushing Main Street (7)<7>

    - down Main Street

    Cherry Avenue - Botanical Gardens

    60th Avenue

    Queens College/Melbourne Avenue

    - down Jewel Avenue -

    136th St. - Van Wyck

    Forest Hills - 71 Av (E)(F)(M)(R)

  8. There are junction malfunctions at Chambers St, this forces the (2) and the (3) to go via the (1) line to South Ferry.

    Reroute or suspended.

    (2) via Lex.

    (3) terminates at Chambers.

Shuttles between Grand Concourse and 148, Chambers and Wall St.

  9. Heres a good scenario: Due to the ongoing Fix and Fortify program the Cranberry Street tubes on the A and C are shut down completely for the next 12 months. On top of that the Manhattan Bridge is closed on weekends on the south side of the bridge due to planned GOs due to signal upgrades (BMT Broadway Line) . The Chrystie Street connection to the IND 6th Avenue Line however stays open. How should we provide alternate service on all lines affected by the shutdown?

    (A) runs normal route BUT via Rutgers between W4 and Jay.

    (C) runs in two sections: Jay - Euclid, WTC - 168th Street. Late nights and weekends Jay - Euclid service terminated and (A) runs local in Brooklyn.

    (N) runs via tunnel from Atlantic to Canal Street

    (Q) in two sections from Prospect Park - Coney Island, Canal St - 57th Street

    Easy peasy.

  10. Next: Due to Amtrak train derail above Astoria Blvd subway station, sending some of Amtrak cars into Astoria Blvd station, crashing into R160 subway train, sending both train cars into street level. RFK Bridge Queens ramp is closed.

As in result streets surrendered by Ditmars Blvd, 29th St, 40th Av, Northern Blvd, 35th St are closed.

Please note M60 SBS can use 29th St to enter/exit RFK Bridge.

    Affected: (N)(Q) train:

    Bonus#1: Reroute Amtrak trains.

    Bonus#2: Reroute M60 SBS, Q18, Q19, Q66, Q102, Q104.

(N), (Q) terminate at Queensboro Plaza.

Amtrak services end at NY Penn and New Rochelle, cross honors tickets with Metro-North

  11. Because of a serious terrorist threat, the secretary of defense, Bratton, Gov. Cuomo, and deBlasio have agreed to only partially shut down the subway system. However they have declared a SOE between South Ferry and Canal Street, also between 28th Street and 57th Street.

The Manhattan bridge is closed as well as the Jorelamon, Montague, Clark tubes. The 53rd Street tunnel is also closed. Reroute service as needed.

The Cranberry tubes are open, as well as 63rd.

  12. Next: The Second Great Depression hits and the MTA's budget is slashed, and the MTA cannot handle the amount of routes today. Provide "good" service at a low cost for the subway. Don't feel hesitant to cut and slash lines completely.

    (A) Local in Brooklyn. Limited amount of trains go express during rush hour. All trains terminate at Ozone Park. (S) Rockaways is extended to Euclid Avenue.

    (B) Extended to Coney Island, local in Brooklyn.

    (C) Suspended, use (A) or (E) in Manhattan.

    (D) Normal route, reduced service.

    (E) Goes via CPL, terminating at 168th Street. Cut from the 53rd Street tunnel.

    (F) Normal route. To replace the (G) some trains go via Crosstown and terminate at 71st St. Continental. Extra service.

    (G) Suspended, use (F)

    (J) Extended down to 9th Avenue via 4th Avenue local.

    (L) Normal route, reduced service.

    (M) Middle Village - Myrtle Avenue shuttle.

    (N) Normal route, reduced service.

    (Q) Suspended, use (B) and (N) in Manhattan.

    (R) 95th - 59th Shuttles. Use (J) in Brooklyn, (N) in Manhattan.

    (Z) Suspended.

  13. My own sensible scenario.

In the PM rush hour runs, there is a blackout in all of the Bronx and Northern Manhattan (Inwood and Washington Heights in general) due to a power connection difficulty at Indian Point.

    Chaos?

    Indefinably!

(A)(B)(C)(D) trains terminate at 125th Street

    (1) Trains terminate at 137th Street.

    (2) Trains terminate at 148th Street (via the 3)

(4)(5)(6) Trains terminate at 125th Street.

Some (6) trains terminate at 86th Street to smoothen switching at 125th Street.

  14. Just wondering, if you extend the SAS across 125th Street, just how would it impact the M60, which is an SBS along 125th Street? And also, if some (7) related train gets extended to 34th Street, how would it impact the M34, which is an SBS along 34th Street?

If that happens, they should terminate the M60, and make an express bus route from Midtown to LaGuardia via Midtown tunnel.

It should be done anyway, lol.

True for now, but how much is that going to change when Columbia completes their expansion? That is a BIG reason why I'd be looking to extend Phase 2 of the SAS all the way across 125th Street and previously I was looking at if possible converting 125th Street into an express stop/short-turn terminal. When that expansion is complete, you could very well see where having a limited amout of (3) service to 137 will help at the very least if not having the SAS extend all the way over.

    Columbia is not everything.

Columbia can deal with their own problems.

    They are big boys.
