  1. Ooo... This one's gonna be tricky.

All of the subway workers (plus the ones for the Staten Island Railway) have gone on strike. How would De Balsio and Pendergast, and New York City respond to this?

    - Shuttle buses replace all routes (lol, I can imagine all the hate if this happens)

    - Travelers in Queens strongly urged to take LIRR due to overcrowding on buses.

    - Increased LIRR service.

    - Travelers in Bronx strongly urged to take MNR due to bus overcrowding.

    - Increased MNR service.

    - Also, increased Express bus service.

  2. Let's bring this thread back.

The rails at Av U on the Brighton are broken, and trains cannot safely pass. In addition, the switches at Kings Hwy are stuck so that all trains keep going on their current track.

    - All (B) trains run local and terminate at Kings Highway

    - All (Q) trains run via 4th Avenue Express and Sea Beach, terminating at Brighton Beach.

    - Shuttle buses between Kings Highway and Brighton Beach

  3. I was told an R68/A might pop up on the (A) during the PM Rush. Not sure how true it is. Don't take my word for it (meaning don't waste your time by standing at one of the (A) platforms for 3 hours). If it's true it will be there all pick.

There has never been an R68 on the (A), Pitkin does not service them and unless it's for track testing, the only time you will probably see a R68 on the 8th Avenue line is if a (D) is re-routed. But nevertheless, there is always a chance...

  4. I see where you're coming from, but your ideas really don't benefit anyone. Switching the Q and R doesn't change anything but the southern destination and whether the Broadway line from Queens is either a local or express in Manhattan. With only five local stops (really four since trains to/from Queens stop at 49 St), it doesn't save much time.

Running the E and/or F trains local serves no purpose other than annoying customers who have had to deal with full local Queens Blvd service off and on for the past several months. 65 St on Queens Blvd is the only station closest to the Flushing Line (at 69 St-Fisk) All of the other stations are several long blocks away from the nearest corresponding Flushing station.

Switching topics, there's another update to the NTTs signs. Apparently Pelham has become a dirty word because PELHAM LCL is out on the Parkchester-bound 6 and has been replaced with BRONX EXPRESS on Pelham Bay Park-bound 6-diamond trains

Probably changed for easy navigation and recognition of the <6> and (6)

  5. The Canal Street (R) platform was closed today because of the re-route via the Man. Bridge but the subway entrance was open. Strange. All the other transfer passages were gated. The entrance at Broadway does not have a passageway to the (N)(Q)(J)(Z)(6) Even I got confused for a second and went down. Feel bad for the couple that had to bring the stroller back up again.

Also saw an orange (Q) on an R68 rollsign on the (D) at 9th Ave. Didn't take out my camera quick enough.
