I mean, there are some things they just can't test without running passengers on a regularly scheduled service. There's only so much you can do running the train on empty tracks over and over again.

This "lets get the 'kinks' ironed out" horse has been regurgitated about a million times on here and while I thoroughly understand the need to test, lets be real here, the (MTA) is probably the most worst run organization in the history of planet earth. I do not trust they have the competency to run thorough tests and prepare for everything so its almost guaranteed the R211 will have some minor issue once it enters regular service. The sooner it does that, the better. The "let's iron out the kinks" spiel is just another subtle cover up for an agency so utterly incapable of doing the most basic things you would expect them to do.

The wasteful, horrible, inefficient corrupt money pit known as the (MTA) would go bankrupt the very first day it stops receiving taxpayer handouts.

These overshooting incidents have happened in the past with other car fleets.

The issue with the R179s isn’t CBTC auto brake, unlike the CBTC enabled trains. It’s that the brakes don’t work reliably

So theres currently an XN60 hanging off of University and El Grant Highway..(no passengers on the bus, but 12 people got hurt, don't know how it happened).

I think it was a deadhead to 181 and the driver made a severe miscalculation on their turn onto Washington Bridge

Edit: turns out some other car crashed into the bus and the bus skidded into the cut

So if your still on a train at 12:50 AM and you still have 30 minutes left to get to your destination, does (MTA) kick you off the train after 1 AM or do they let you ride until your stop?

They’ll let you stay on the train till it gets to the terminal. You can also transfer to those connecting shuttle trains (5, Lefferts A, R) past 1 (to connect with trains that have runs that start before 1 but end after 1)

and until the R211s get here (if necessary due to the COVID-related service reductions), the R32s and R46s can be temporarily "retired".

Cars would need to be moved around though to ensure no R46s or R32s are in service should the service cuts occur:

    (A) - Would use the 130 R179 (10-car units) + 230 R160s from Jamaica

    (B) - Discontinued

    (C) - R179 (8-car units, half of which are from ENY)

    (G) - R68

    (J) - R160A-1 (and some R143s as necessary)

    (M) - R160A-1

    (N) - R68 + R160B

    (Q) - R68A (from the (B)

    (W) -Discontinued

    (Z) - Discontinued

    (H) / (S) - R179 (4-car units from the (C) train fleet).

    Yard moves:

All R179 (8-car units transferred from ENY to 207 St/Pitkin Yards) - the (J) fleet will be covered by the R160A-1 cars that would not need to be used on the (M) and (L) due to service frequency reductions.

230 R160s from Jamaica to Pitkin (the units that were on loan from the (F) all summer to the (A))

60 R160s from Jamaica to Coney Island (concurrent with proposed frequency reductions to the (E) and (R))

16 R68s from Concourse to Coney Island

(the latter two transfers can be coordinated based on Coney Island's needs)

Don’t think the (H) can use 4 car 60’ trains. Iirc back when the (H) used 4 car R32s post sandy, one set lost power over a third rail gap. Then the R46s replaced the R32s
