  1. I rode R211 4060 yesterday on the (A), and I like the train. Evereything looks good. The LED screen looks nice, the added features for wheechair accessibility were a good addition as well. The info screens were my favorite part. It actually showed the program for the (A) being re-rerouted via the (F) in weekday mode, it showed transfers for the (W) at 42nd Street on the screen as well as the (Z) at Fulton Street. The train ride was calm and relaxing too. Looking forward to more R211s being on the rails.

DC is still putting NTTs on their trains despite their issues with Kawasaki, which was much more severe, than the r179's. Also, the FML in Philly has NTTs. I'm not sure about the BSL in Philly. If I'm not mistaken Boston is in the process of putting NTTs as well.

Boston has a few NTTs in service on the Orange Line and I think the new ones for the Red Line are being delivered too.

  3. Important reminder that it was not the (1) line that was just affected yesterday, other parts of the system were affected too, especially the 8th Avenue Line.

I also saw video of the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station being flooded as well on the news (the (2) and (5) line platforms to be specific). If this isn't any major sign that climate change is here, than I don't know what is.

  4. The LIRR cuts are nothing but pure austerity. This doesn't make any sense when the TA is getting more needed money on the way. Odd how this isn't happening to Metro-North. They can't keep pretending that ridership is gonna stay down forever. Regular service has to be provided at some point.

Regarding your R160 comment for the (A) and (C), I disagree with that because why give them more trains when the old ones are being phased out, and new ones are coming in. But I'm pretty sure the R211s, and R179's would be fine by themselves, or transfer all R179's to 207, and the 4-car R211s could all go ENY.

The reason why I said that more R160s will be bumped out to the (A) and (C) is because the (C) has been recently struggling with service with the R46s it is using currently that is shared with the (A), not to mention the R46 fleet itself is struggling in terms of serving four time lines right now. With the R211s and R179s, full service can be provided more properly on both lines. It's a possibility that the R179s could end up being an (A) and (C) train only subway car like the R44s (the ones that started this whole fleet shortage crisis when they were retired due to severe frame rot issues 10 and a half years ago), although that could change if 179s end up having CBTC equipment installed.
