When Meredith first opened, that took a lot of stress away from Yukon and Castleton specifically since they always had a ton of express buses OOS. Charleston also had their fair share of problems maintenance wise in the beginning. And with it being a weekday-only depot and a mostly rush-hour depot, that kept the mileage on a lot of those 2400s down.

At least with it going away by the summer, it'll kill off the shortages that Castleton is having(but definitely not their maintenance woes). But now, my question is whether or not Yukon or Charleston will have space for the extra buses that Meredith has gotten, especially the 1500s. Having been in and out of Charleston personally.....I have doubts.

I was thinking about that too. Yukon has 135 express buses Charleston has 150 and Castleston has like 70. I think most of Meredith routes would go to The Castle since they had the less amount of buses

This isn’t the right thread to talk about this. And yes apparently it is.

Saw the SIM32 operated by a Castlston buses I think it was 2632 can’t remember the exact number but it was a 2600 series with Castleston decals

no, darkstar is right. I'm looking at the bulletin right now and it says just those two sections it is not allowed to be express. Euclid to Hoyt and 59 to 125.

So it’s for safety reason’s why there T’s aren’t fully express if you really think about it. Open gateway between 59-125th a lot of things can happened and people are stuck if a dangerous situation were to happen

This week, there is 1 10-car set but split in two 5-car sets running on the Rockaway Park Shuttle (S) . They might be getting use to this movement besides the usual R46.

Isn't the (S) based out of Pitkin , so shouldn't all of Pitkin crews be qualified to R179s no matter which line is it on ?

This might not be the case, The R179s might go else where. This is rumored by NYCT employees which i hope isn't true because the R179s do fine on the (A)

Also with how ENY keeps improving it's spare factor, The (C) could go 100% 8 car R179s if they get all of the 8 car R179s cbtc equipped since the (M) can use all of the available R160s 8377-8652,9943-9974 now at ENY. That's if they decide to keep it 8 car R179s just to get rid of the R46s off of 8th ave in time for CBTC. This would also allow the (M) to use the R179s if they get CBTC kits installed. Then when Option I cars start coming in then they can transition the (C)  to being 10 cars

Having 8 and 10 car R179s running on the (C) at the same time would cause confusion, This is why they don't use the 10 car units on the (C) and only the R46s.

Wasn't the goals was to give R211 to the (A) and (C) and they rotate between R179s and R211 since they both would be able to maintain in different barns ? And didn't they equip the R179s 10 Cars with CBTC ?

The schedule usually doesn't matter because of planned reroutes, especially for the weekends.

This is true and you also have to factor in the qualified crews to operate the the train. It can be the 2nd out of 207th but if a crew isn’t qualified it can be the 3rd or 4th train out
