For what its worth an early January S&D overview makes sense. The final class of 2023 just started at Hillside last week and will wrap up in mid February. So if they hold S&D overviews in early Jan and then test applicants in early February they can fill a late Feb/Early March class. If I were in your shoes I'd enjoy the Holidays and try not to dwell on whether or when you'll get the call. Because if you inevitably get through the process and are working the trains getting off for Christmas or New years is gonna be tough ask for the first several years - so enjoy the time you get with your family now while you still can. When you inevitably get the invite study your ass off for 5 weeks by any means necessary.  Honestly the S&D test was the toughest part of the process because you need to take the time out of your life to study for free, for something with no guaranteed reward, and you have absorb a big chunk of esoteric knowledge which seems like nonsense. Once your in class things are much more manageable because you're getting paid and it's your job at that point. You're also surrounded by people in the same boat while you're at hillside, whereas with the S&D test it's all on you in isolation. Good luck with getting the call, hope to see you out there sometime next year. Study hard, the job is worth it.

So if I passed the S&D test in April, does that mean I won’t be called up? I still didn’t hear back from them. Do you know what happened? Do they bypass applicants like that?

hi guys. I have one question that my list number is 32000 and my scored is71.25.  So anybody tell me that I have any chance to get a call or not. thanks

This is exactly the kind of post that should be in this thread, not like some of the previous posts where the posters were already hired and discussing their RDOs and how they're all about money and cleaning up on OT or "scrapping the wall"(sic), whatever that means. Not helpful for the rest of us who need to know IF we're going to get any notice at all, not to mention hired.

To answer your question, it all depends on whether the list gets extended. This list is supposed to expire soon. However, applicants from the 8094 exam were called up from a range similar to yours based on what some other conductors told me. If they extended 6601 for the same amount of time, it could happen. But you might have to wait ten years.

To me, this is a topic that has been vastly under-discussed in this thread: how long you can expect to wait and your likelihood of getting hired based on your list number. We'll worry about overtime and vaction days and schoolcar in another thread. I for one would like to hear from current or retired conductors how low the MTA went down on the list in past exams.

I'm in the 4900s, and if I to take an educated guess, I personally don't think I'm going to get called from this particular list, unless they extend the list to 2024. Even then, I don't know what the chances are of getting called.

Based on the rate they've moved through the list, the MTA apparently calls in about 100 people a month. So for people further down the list, such as yourself and me (I'm in the 9500 range), the list would have to be extended four years past when it's scheduled to expire, just like the previous list was. I spoke to some conductors and train operators and they told me that they knew of people (or themselves) who were way down in the 8,000 and even 12,000 range that got called up after 8094 was extended. Not sure what will happen this time around. Extending the list another four years saves the MTA the trouble of scheduling tests, grading, etc. I hope they extend it, but I don't know if they're extending lists for other open positions.

HighlyDoubtful, but you never know. They are moving quick tho, too many factors to take into consideration. I wouldn’t bank on this job with that list number. List expires February 2022

I've spoken to other conductors and some told me people got hired as low as 8xxx and even 12xxx. Of course, that was when the list was extended. Is it a certainty that this list expires February 2022? If so, how far down the list could they be realistically expected to get by that time?

Be patient you guys. All of you will get hired. Just a matter of time. Stay busy and enjoy the holidays with your family.

All of us? Including someone with a list number of 95XX ? Will they go through the list fast enough to reach that far down before it expires?

Don't know. Probably the entire life of the exam. How long is it good for? 4 years?

That's the thing, the previous exam 8094 was extended for 8 years over the usual 4. I'm just concerned if they could get around to reaching that far down the list in 4 years.

I may need to start checking my mail if this is the case. I’m list # 99xx and hopefully I don’t have to come in this weekend. Hopefully, before years end I get in and take OPA test.

Now let me get this straight - am I to understand that they will get deep into the 9000's calling people from the list this soon? Or is this a question of list numbers being randomly selected by the MTA out of order?

So if your number is 10,000  I would consider it like 6,500. Even if you are number 900, consider it 500.  This is just a number.

So a score like 95xx would be the equivalent of what? And how long could someone expect to wait if they're in that range?

Took my OPA yesterday 10/17 and I was told by one of the supervisors that only the top 2,250 people from the exam received OPA letters with more batches to be going out soon.

So 2,250 OPA letters were sent out so far? How many more do they plan to send out before they fill their quota?

  10. Thanks for letting me know. Good luck to all. Mta alway hiring process is like traffic.

Most likely all of you who score over 95 will be hired in late 2018 and early 2019,

    Good luck to all.

Take other exam to have a few back up plans.

Why the conductor point at something st every station.?

If you got a 92.5, when can you expect to be called up (if at all)?
