  1. Yes, they have. Here's a video I took (skip to 4:25 when I switch from 7881 to 7486) Really? I saw 7833-43 recently and they were together. 7485 was with 7446 last time I saw it.
  2. First convert/factory mix set (that I've seen). 7881 is with 7486. Videos coming soon.
  3. Please say that isn't true... some vandal flipped around one of 7922's storm door stickers and it's still upside down to this day. And what I think is a different incident, the yard was forced to replace 7922's number stickers because it seems they were removed. Where did you hear this about 7924? On another note, the newest conversion set 7501-7928-7510 has weird programming, or one of the cars is off. When I rode it around the time it entered service, the announcements started up later, a few seconds after the doors opened instead of immediately. Then, I rode it today and got on at Grand Central. The conductor used the PA because the program was frozen and the train thought the next stop was Grand Central and the train was still in the tubes. The signs kept saying "Next Stop: Grand Central" until the new conductor programmed it for a Queens bound train at 34th. At Times Square, the announcement came on much later and was cut off when the doors opened. I think this is either a computer glitch or a programming error. I know this happens on R142's sometimes but never have heard it on a 188.
  4. Yep lol. Changes to orange when the red text overlaps with that green line. One of the many reasons I love that car.
  5. Man that car is having all kinds of programming fun lmfao. Ah wish I could've caught that, it's my favorite R188 too so that would've been cool to see. Caught it signed up as a Vernon-Jackson bound last week. Seeing it signed as a shuttle would've been cool though.
  6. You mean 7651-7655? 7551 has already left for conversion.
  7. No lol. Technology and Transit are two of my biggest hobbies so that's where the name comes from. I know some minimal stuff about technology, but nothing that advanced. In R188 related news, I've noticed that a lot of R188 floors are getting salted (primarily towards the Flushing bound side, C car and lead car towards Flushing) I was on 7927 (the newest C car in service) and Corona had salted it's floors. Does the salt in any way damage the floor? I've noticed on a lot of older 188 cars, the floor has turned very rough.
  8. Yeah, it doesn't make sense but that's what they did. I think they should've kept it as "Vernon-Jackson". They did the same thing to "Queensboro Plz", they changed it to "Q Boro Plz"... In other news, R188 sets 7491-7495 and 7496-7927-7500 are in service.
  9. Rode on a train this evening that had program problems, or rather, the conductor(s) (there were two) were playing around. First, they signed up the train as a Manhattan bound to Times Square. Then they signed it up as a Shuttle to Vernon-Jackson, which was actually quite interesting to see and hear. I'm uploading the video and will post the link when it's up.
  10. Both are at Corona, I saw 7491 in the yard and I was told by a friend that 7501 was testing.
  11. I was on 2086 and I saw that too, it looks weird and I got a pic. Unfortunately, I'm not so great at uploading pics to the forums, but I got a pic pretty similar so it wouldn't have been much different. I don't know why they would do that. On the other hand, I know someone here reported 7500 was delivered to Corona and seeing 7500 on the testing, but I haven't even seen it in the yard. Maybe it was in the back or in the maintenance shops but it's weird that that set hasn't been out at all. Usually, they have the testing set sitting on the main yard tracks, as I saw with 7480 and 7490. Hopefully nothing is wrong with it.
  12. Is there any proof? I rode the shuttle both weekends and the first weekend (the set was 7331-35, 7316-7909-7320) it was signed up as a LAST STOP and the second weekend I rode it (the set was 7301-05, 7226-7900-7230) the signs were just blank. I could've missed this but the first weekend I was on the shuttle for awhile (both days I went, the first day for longer so it could have been the second day when I went for less time) but I doubt the crew would sign the train to "NOT IN SERVICE", especially since that program displays "NO PASSENGERS" on the interior signs.
  13. Idk but the tail tracks are crucial so they can bring Queens bound trains into service during rush-hour. On another note, I can't believe 7926 is here. Hard to believe the last time I saw 7486 was in June/July. I hope it's still a fairly nice car. Can't wait to see what this set is like on the , although I'll miss seeing it on the occasionally.
  14. Me neither. I thought only Jerome 142As went to the .
  15. 7925 is in service. Wasn't expecting to see it because 19 hours ago I was looking at 7480 in the yard with testing posters lol.
  16. The Queensboro Plaza bound destination sign is more of a problem than 34th's. "Q BORO PLZ" is something someone could easily be confused with, then again, there are also the announcements which clearly say "This is a Queensboro Plaza bound 7 train." I just wish they could've kept "Queensboro Plz" on the sign.
  17. R188's have started displaying SDS Visual Tests. 7889's display was displaying the test today and has been since yesterday. Previously, that display was blank.
  18. Yeah, I thought I would be wrong about the C car specs. C cars have motors from hearing weird propulsion on 7909.
  19. The original R142A consist went like this: A-B-B-B-A. A cars are the cab cars and B cars are the non cab cars. When the R188s were ordered, a car with a tachometer was required to measure distance for CBTC. They converted every car ending in 2 to a C car, and with the lack of an 11th car needed for the line, they added an additional C car (the factory built one) to the other end of the consist. The R188 consist is now A-C-B-B-A for the 5 car set and A-B-B-B-C-A for the 6 car sets. A cars are the cab cars B cars are basically the same as R142A cars with one powered truck and one unpowered truck (I believe) C cars (both converted and new) have trailer trucks with no brakes or propulsion so the tachometer can correctly measure distance (once again, I believe this is what the C car is for, other than adding an extra car. I could be wrong about specs.)
  20. They are, which is why I am so confused to as how people have gotten the idea that 7883 is a C car. 7883 is a B car and it is in a factory set. C car inserts start at 7899. 7899 is the only 7800 C Car. The rest are 7900 and above. 7883 is a B car within 7882-7887, which is a factory built set. 7886 is the C car in that set. EDIT: Not all C cars are factory built. All conversion cars ending in 2, for example: 7212, have been converted to C cars.
  21. 7883 is in 7882-7887 and 7905 is inserted between 7279 and 7280. Why would 7883 be inserted with 7279? C cars start at 7899 and go until 7936. Factory sets are numbered 7811-7898. And all eight factory sets have been delivered so this should all be common knowledge by now...
  22. Wait a minute, I thought the set was supposed to be 7491-7927-7500. I thought 7926 was supposed to go between 7489 and 7490 and 7925 is supposed to go between 7479 and 7480.
  23. Yes, 7866-7870 and 7860-7865 is not in service and is doing CBTC tests at this time. I've said this numerous times and have provided several links to videos on my YouTube channel. Hopefully this post clears up any last confusion. 7860-70 at Times Square NIS: 7860-7870 bypassing 5th Avenue NIS: 7866-7870 CBTC testing at Flushing: 7860-7870 CBTC testing at Willets Point: I also got more footage of this set during the 7 shuttle G.O. this past weekend.
  24. It's the worst looking factory car in service. Sometimes, I even think it is a conversion when it is coming in. 7855 is pretty much always in service.
