  1. I was hoping by chance the pilot would arrive in the fall to at least test out the bus then by March 2024 the tech is ready and we could proceed with the order. Dosent seem like it's the case though.
  2. Honestly I believe the B62 not gonna go no further than Court Sq (we'll be lucky if we keep the route to Queens Plaza) and have it replaced by the Q100. Q63 is one of the few routes from the proposal I see staying in it's proposed form, besides a possible modification of the eastern terminal Another route to mention that wasn't already, the Q88. I see it not changing from today's current route.
  3. Here's how I feel the proposed routes would be changed from the new draft to the final draft: Q1: will be kept between Braddock Av and Jamaica LIRR, and also replace the Q43 west of Jamaica bus terminal (see Q43) Q5/86: The Rosedale branch will remain a rush route and the Q86 becomes the local route, similar to today's Q5. Q6: Q6 will be kept, but go to JFK so the Q7 can serve the entirety of Rockaway Blvd like the current proposal. Q10: somehow someway, they will merge all services into a "limited", but thankfully will not be merged with the Q64 Q11/21: The Q11 Howard/Hamilton Beach loop will stay, the Q21 stays the way it is with no Elmhurst extension but with added frequency. Q14/23: The Q14 I see them keeping somehow that way the Q23 could "remain on 108 St". Besides that the Q23 will go back to it's original route Q15/19: Will remain their current routes besides the 108 St/Roosevelt Av portion of the Q19. Q15A effectively become the Q15A with the Q20 still serving Beechhurst. Q16: I see the Utopia Pkwy branch to Bay Terrace surviving Q17/25: The Q17 will take the northern portion of the Q25 and remain between College Point and around Horace Harding/188 St Q25: all services will remain except for the portion north of CP depot. Q26/27: only thing I see changing is the Q27 ending at QCC while the Q26 uses HHE instead of 73 Av. Q29/80: Q29 will effectively remain, but as the Q80 route extended to Elmhurst Q30: remains, but don't see service east of QCC and outside of weekdays Q34/61: see the Q61 remaining but with expanded hrs Q36/82/110: they will go through with the Q36/110 swap which means they will keep the Q82, not bring back the Q36, and have the Q110 go to LNP/Hillside Av. Q41: will be brought back due to community opposition Q43: cut back to Jamaica Bus terminal as justification for having the Q1 be more "useful" Q46/48: one route will be the local, the other a rush, most likely Q46 local and Q48 rush Q52/53: remains as is Q62: most likely eliminated and merged into the Q16/28 Q64/73: even though the Q10/64 merger is gone, the MTA will try to do a Q64 extension of some sort, which will result in either a westward extension on the Q23 route to Union Tpke, or an eastward extension to the QCC area using 73 Av, eliminating the need for the Q73 Q65: the new design route will remain between Flushing and 46 Av, and the route will remain the same south of 46 Av Q68/101/B24/B57: I can see the Q101 remaining, and as a result the B24 will stay but the southern portion will be extended to Jackson Heights, "eliminating the need for the B57 extension". Q75: will essentially be the Q30 to LNP, and operate on 188 St instead of Utopia Pkwy. Q100: remains Q102/105: survives as a Roosevelt Island - QBP shuttle, the Q105 remains to the Q101 terminal Q104: keeps current route. Although if the B24 does not survive, I can see the Q104 being extended to WBP to replace it Q112: see it remaining with an extension to Euclid Av to replace the Q7.
  4. To start things off, as bus routes on major bridges become equiped with bike racks, this will be a thread to keep track of all the buses equipped or gonna be equipped with bike racks. Here is a list of buses with racks as of 7/16/2023: 2009 Orion NG: 4020-4021, 4023-4037, 4140-4142, 4247, 4345, 4485-4488, 2011 Orion 3G: 7053-7063 2015-16 NovaBus LFS: 8231-8256 2016-17 NovaBus LFSA: 5463 2016-17 New Flyer XD60: 5991, 6003, 6013, 6016, 6026 2018-19 NovaBus LFS: 8609
  5. Let's say for consumers sake there is demand for a Bronx - JFK bus. That's not the MTA's job. There are other companies that are able to serve the airport. This Bronx - JFK work should go to a private company that makes intermediate stops in busy areas. There's already a handful that go to PABT/Penn station so this is not impossible.
  6. ....... The Q44 dosent even go 6 miles (in the Bronx) with the extension while this proposed route is double the Q44's TOTAL size
  7. Buses equipped with bike racks as of 7/8/2023 (corrections welcome): 4020-4037, 4140-4142, 4247, 4345, 4485-4488, 5463, 5991, 6003, 6016, 7053-7063, 8231-8256
  8. So I decided to see if there was any updates on recent deliveries according to the MTA and I came across something interesting from the MTA website updated as of July 5, 2023: Event #: B40695 Description: Furnish and deliver 250 over-the-road express diesel buses Manufacturer: Prevost Car (US) Inc Event #: 404497 Description: Lease of five over-the-road battery electric buses for test and evaluation Manufacturer: Van Hool/ABC Companies Source: https://new.mta.info/doing-business-with-us/procurement/new-york-city-transit/sole-source Anyone know about Prevost and Van Hool deliveries for MTA?
  9. 6014 heavily damaged in an accident this morning. Damage indicates retirement/oos
  10. We also said Gillig was not gonna come back to NYC (well the area) and in a way they did. Never say never. Also CTA looks like it's trying to shift into a Proterra agency especially now that NovaBus will be out the market so I'm not gonna out rule them at all even with the lemons at SEPTA. Remember it's been a couple years and they recently introduced "a new model" so things could definitely change in the future.
  11. Try asking that to everyone located in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island.
  12. So apparently the Q78 and Q82 are online on MTA bus time but without any official stops. Only the neighborhood terminals and main street corridor are listed, which are Springfield Blvd and Hillside Av respectively.
  13. Update: Originally planned for release at the end of June, the Queens bus redesign final plan release date is delayed to late summer, no later than labor day. This is due to the input from Queens residents being "invaluable in informing the development of the Proposed Final Plan." The team will be reaching out to every Queens community board with requests to present in September or October, with the MTA holding a public hearing later in the fall.
  14. In case anyone is wondering about assignments, they are as follows: MTA Bus Novabus LFS order: 8964-9271 136 JFK 46 BP 100 LGA, 26 TBD MTA Bus New Flyer XD40 order: 9282-9387 42 to JFK 34 to ECH 40 to LGA
  15. Because that's definitely how deliveries with new bus models exactly works. All MTA bus depots need training on the new units and need a unit to train in before "getting their batch".
  16. 6000 spotted in the local scheme at today's Puerto Rican parade

By the end of the year, approximately 4,700 buses will have DIS. Bike Racks: 110 buses are being retrofitted. Expected completion Q3 2023
  18. Is this supposed to be the intended assignments as of recent? I'm also assuming delivery is intended for over the summer (no later than August)
  19. I always wondered why there wasn't a "local Bronx portion" between Fordham and Flushing. This route could be very useful and even a couple stops on the current Q44 could be served by the local instead. Iirc pending finalization of construction, all trips on the Q44 are supposed to be sent to Jamaica depot to reduce unnecessary short turns and layovers for reliefs. Still doesn't excuse the extension to make trips longer. The Q44 is one of the handful of routes in the city that became so successful it hurts itself in the long run. Imagine being the OP that had to drive on the Q44 pre-1999. Even the Q20A/B is only able to do so much. I remember reading the (original, and not pre redesign, the original original) Bx36 was also replaced slowly by the Q44, giving it more weight to carry. If they needed a Bronx-Queens connector, could have found a way to make an "express route" between West Farms and Flushing. All this short turning still gonna upset passengers. The main problem is layovers. There is definitely not enough space for both the Bx9 and Q44 to be rerouted over there. At the very least, the Q44 is still gonna have to end at/still serve West Farms so the rerouted is basically moot. Besides, the current Q44 route between Parkchester and West Farms is already as straightforward as it can get. No need to add more unnecessary turns especially on narrow streets.
  20. What time did you catch this bus? Do you regularly take it around that time? If you do make sure you pay attention to the pattern and if it's the same driver what I would do is record him starting the bus up, putting up the NIS and skipping you. Used to have a Q44 driver do that on the regular and I did that enough times that eventually he was moved out.
