  1. At least there'll be more buses over the bridges? But at the expense of pretty much everything else, I see it.
  2. Rail safety in this area is such a joke now that I can't even call them accidents anymore.

  3. The Subway R44s are all gone. There will be a Staten Island Railway version to replace the 44s here. On the Subway, it's intended for the R46s and whatever the 179s don't finish off.
  4. Citrus fruits may make a more viable fare payment method than MetroCards.

  5. 7638 and your broken R1 door, we meet again.

  6. The MTA and the CTA should've done more than just a simple pizza bet.

  8. The train clearly says "Not In Service" and people still try to board it anyway.

You know that New Yorkers hate reading.

Which probably explains our tabloid newspapers.

  9. It's AM rush on the (6) and one of the right side doors is jammed. Anyone up for some human Tetris?

  10. A midday SI express bus ride is long enough to get you to reflect on all of life's problems.

The X10 can be quite long too. Oddly enough I've been on the X10 the longest out of the three. I've been luckier on the X1 and X17.

All three of them. And the X10's pretty damned long.

Mainly because of the number of stops.

  11. Prevosts on the X10, with Castleton stickers...finally!

  12. So, after two hours of wading through Gowanus and Staten Island Expressway traffic, some jackwagon has the balls to tell a driver on the X17 "your driving is terrible". Why don't you try it?!

There is always traffic somewhere. The question how much of an effort did the guy make? There are guys that sit in traffic and make no effort to get around it. Those I do have a problem with.

You can't assume that's what exactly happened. Besides, usually all lanes are clogged, and perhaps the driver wasn't close to an exit or any free-flowing lane.

I don't think he had a choice. Either you stick in traffic or you wait through all the stoplights.

  13. Has anyone else noticed that mta.info still has the Super Bowl map up?

  14. Even if the game is pretty flat, any day at Citi Field is pretty good, especially if it ends with a ride on the first R188 set.

  15. Lived in this city my whole life and only rode NYCTA's Orion VII OG for the third time yesterday...

  16. The real reason why I suggest it is that it would bring full-time limited service to Richmond Avenue, a [likely] full-time NJ service, and could put bus lanes on the only street on Staten Island that could handle them. Not to mention the benefit to the S44/94, S59, X10, and X17.
  17. You'll never see the NABI here for two reasons. One is that they were never up to the 's standards, another is that New Flyer just took over NABI and intends to discontinue their lines once they finish all outstanding orders. As for the XN40s, you might have to stay tuned, there is a 138-bus CNG order coming up to replace the Orion VIIs.
  18. I saw 7153 training on the southbound Gowanus this morning. No depot sticker, but obviously moving toward UP territory. What's next for Staten Island? We're full of 6000s, I'm sure Castleton will definitely be first for new local buses given the BTEP buses there, from what it seems like more NGs cannot be the answer. I've seen more O5s rotated through all three local depots lately than the NGs, but eventually that will have to stop.
  19. Spotted 7153 as a training bus heading southbound on the Gowanus. No depot sticker yet.

  20. Old Meredith MCIs...now with swivel seats and seatbacks that recline even if you don't want them to.
