It takes a lot for me to respond to some of these posts but reading some of the posts today, got up my dander. The focus should be on how the bus service will help the population in that community year round. This is why I have to go back and start work on how operations planning proposal   with the elimination of the bus stops on the B/3 and the B/9 which will negatively impact upon the senior population in the Midwood and Sheepshead Bay communities.

I have submitted the proposal about the changes to the B/36 and the B/44 select bus and would like to update the proposed change for the B/44 local and select bus terminal from Avenue U to Avenue X. When I proposed this change earlier last year, we did not have the problems with the illegals being housed in the Emmons Avenue motels. As many of you know, I travel just the three blocks and the change that was proposed is needed more than ever as trying to board either a B/44 local or select bus at Avenue U and to get off at Avenue X has become a virtual war getting on and off.

As far as the B/49 limited to Kingsborough Community College, let the college provide the service, not the MTA. Everything depends upon the enrollment and based on my readings, indicates their enrollment is declining, so let it die. This is not to say that college service should be discontinued, it would be more effective if it was based on need, not involve the college.

The B/49 should continue to Manhattan Beach but continue on Avenue Z to Coney Island Avenue then south on Coney Island Avenue to Neptune Avenue and  then east on Neptune to Shore Boulevard then resume regular route to Manhattan Beach. This change will eliminate the routing through the narrow streets and provide access to the Coney Island Avenue - Avenue Z shopping center. This would eliminate the problems with the narrow streets in Sheepshead Bay

So, how do you address the Sheepshead Bay Station stop for the B49?  Personally, the B49 really needs to be left alone.

It should be noted that as of today's bus committee presentation, it's said that the 60 AEBs (4965-5024) is underway for acceptance for 4 depots. That means there is another cut besides Jamaica depot. Most likely the cut depot is Charleston or ENY as the other 3 have tested a kind of XE bus, the latter I'm going with bc I'm not sure ENY finished with construction with their own projects there yet.

If I was a bettor in this situation. I could see East New York getting bumped out of this and for not just only because of the construction in lieu at the current time.. Just some observations I've noticed that when 4965 and 4966 were at Grand for about a month those buses never made the trip to East New York (unless I'm wrong and willing to take accountability) those units went into revenue service only a handful of times while at Grand. So, my guess is the following: GA > MQ > KB > CH.  Don't know which order the assignments may be. However, I can see EN being out.

Its very underwehelming. Still no Rockaway-Sheepshead service, and they took out the Springfield Blvd crosstown. This plan is basically keeping the exact same routes.

Dead on arrival.. You don't need Sheepshead-Far Rockaway bus service.. It's overkill. Sorry.

Just saw the documents. I’m already disappointed (75% of riders wanted the Q44 to go to the Bronx High School of Science).

I don't know if it would be best to send the Q44 to BX High School of Science/Lehman College.  Fordham Plaza seems a bit suitable with better connections including Metro-North.

I can't believe they took out a bunch of promising elements from the old plan! Also, the stop removal is crazy in this new one.

This goes to show that the MTA doesn't listen to their commuters. This whole re-design plan has been boiled down with politics. You even have the transportation chair at the city council essentially giving it a thumbs down because of the coverage that is being provided in Rosedale with more lines, meanwhile little to no coverage in Far Rockaway.  The MTA fumbled on alot of good opportunties to expand bus service into Nassau County including introducing service into North Shore University Hospital (Lake Success) and expanding service into Elmont.

Livingston St. was a part of that Better Buses Action Plan that De Bozo (De Blasio) introduced, around 4 or 5 years ago.... It was an attempt to improve bus speeds along certain corridors throughout the city.... There were about 20 corridors or so that were to see improvements, with Livingston st. being one of them.

In laymans, the previous Livingston st. plan were the first set of bus lanes that were painted along it.

Ahh got it.. Than mayor copy cat went along with it and boom here we go.  Since, I work in the vicinity of the area. Traffic is gonna be horrendous and there's absolutely NO parking on Livingston in both directions and since Schermerhorn Street is one direction (Eastbound Boerum to Flatbush) Parking in that area is gonna get very stupid.

The previous bus lane idea didn't work out so they're going full-on "f**k cars" and making it two-way for buses only while making everyone else take it westbound. At least it'll be easier for me next time I'm on the B67 to get around it...

First off, what was the previous Livingston Street Plan?

This new plan is just worse and it starts on Tuesday 11/14.

So far only a few very polite letters have been sent. After what happened with the Coney Island Casino the city was pushing, but every person who attended opposed it, no elected official wants any more town halls.

    Gotchu.

I think the other mess is with the B2. Why take away Marine Park/Midwood/Kings Plaza bus service. In all fairness by taking away that layer of service you lose the B31 interline

But in Queens don’t forget, every city councilperson sent a joint letter opposing the changes. That didn’t happen in Brooklyn.

    …….. Just yet

I hope the Brooklyn delegation gets it right to send letters to the MTA to re-do the design. AT WORSE: B49/68 swap is completely horrible even though there’s no depot swap. Also, B48/69 swap also horrible.  The talked about B15/B55 swap. Also, no crosstown Ridgewood/Maspeth to Downtown Brooklyn SBS that was widely talked about.

I agree. It’s a horrible proposal. The B36 is greatly underserved in rush hours east of Sheepshead Bay Station. This proposal allows for increased service without adding buses which is why the MTA wants it. But there are just too many negatives with this proposal. We don’t need a fourth bus route on Ave Z, especially articulated buses. When I advised the MTA of this, their solution was to ban parking and eliminating some bus stops, in a neighborhood where parking is very scarce. This is bad for local businesses and for the bus passengers since they will have to walk much further to a bus stop and wait longer if their extra walk causes them to miss a bus, adding to their trip time. My proposal for the B44 SBS to go to Kingsborough when school is in session makes a lot more sense.

The real benefits for a B44+ going to KCC would be people along Empire Blvd, Church Ave, Newkirk/Foster/Junction and points towards Sheepshead.  The real KCC bus is the B49. There’s no need for a Williamsburg bound bus going to KCC even when school in session.

HOWEVER, should a B44 go to KCC let it be the SBS versus the local.  Also, B49 needs to be left alone. No need for redundancy service for Coney Island via Bed-Stuy. You already have the B74, B82, B68, B36 and to an extent B1 and B4.

Throw the whole Brooklyn re-design in the garbage.

I don't know how the B44 SBS to Coney Island Hospital will go, last time I checked, Avenue Z can have congestion problems some times, but people on the current B44 route south of Avenue Z will have lesser service due to B44 local service not being increased. I think the B44 Local Avenue U trips should all be extended to Knapp Street to make up for this decreased service.

Something tells me that that B44 proposal to Coney Island Hospital will more likely get canned. There’s enough service provided on the B1, B4 and B68. Given there’s enough service at that corridor between Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island Hospital. Also, if I’m a bus rider between Williamsburg and Coney Island Hospital I’d scream hell for this.

Honest truth, your looking at a disaster between Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island with no viable solutions or alternatives.

Wasn't the Southern half of the 47 (then the 78) from East New York?

B47: Flatbush (Original) former B78. Than East New York took over for a bit before it's transfer back to Flatbush (before going to Grand Ave officially when Grand Ave opened)

Saw a B47 signed up for Flatlands earlier this month, when I was coming off a B17 at Church..... Said to myself, since when did B47's short turned over there....

As of say, the past year or two or so, I've been noticing more & more routes short turning at stops/places where I've never seen them signed up before....

Those B47 short turns to Flatlands are rarely used.. Even when Flatbush and East New York had the route.

I've been meaning to ask are the 4700s really getting a second repaint or are those just buses that got a good wash. I'd like to see a recent photo just to compare as there have been cases of confusion between a paintjob and a wash.

I think some of those units are getting washed real good.. No repaint.. Aren't they supposed to be scrapped as soon as next year 2024 or early 2025..

Jesus! Interestingly, yesterday on the M15 SBS (not at the stop, on the actual bus), there were 3 Eagle Team members, except instead of checking tickets, each one stood at a door and rode the bus for a few stops. I've seen MTAPD, NYSP, and NYPD TD do that in the past at times, but this was the first time the eagle team was providing some sort of security (or at least that's what it looked like they were doing)

The new class of MTAPD & NYSP once they come out the academy most will be stationed in NYC to provide those additional services. By default NYPD TD bureau is supposed to do this along with eagle team. From some recent observations I've seen NYSP patrolling in Brooklyn and literally spending the whole day throughout the borough. Usually NYSP is patrolling the Belt/Prospect/BQE/Verrazano Narrows Bridge area looking for speeders and E-Z Pass violators.

Just a point out, please be safe when you ride the bus. Today, on the B82-SBS, there were eagle team members at Flatlands and Livonia Av. One passenger had a firearm was escorted to the machines but, ended up opened fire at the members outside at the said area. No one was injured at that time. Happened around 6:20 AM.

The actual location was on Flatlands and Louisiana Avenues on the B82 heading towards Coney Island.

Flatlands Avenue and Livonia Avenue don't intersect at all.

They have a cleaner list now, they will not be canvassing for that from here anymore. Being in the 9000s, dont get your hopes up

copy that. As a far as this list goes. If there's no real need for conductors between now and the 2/14/2024 expiration date will they mostly call people who requested to be re-certified back to the list and prolly leave the rest of the list alone.

I know there's a OC test for filing in June (correct)?

they were canvassing people last year that were 10xxx and up, I believe they have stopped doing that

I'm in the 9000's and didn't receive a canvass letter for the cleaner position via Conductors exam.. Although, the list has been extended for another year until 2024. Who knows if TA will still use this list to canvass people from the 8000's to the 10xxx's.
