My guess is that the bus was going too fast and operator tried to turn and lost control. At a certain speed I think 30 mph the bus two sections locks up making it a straight 60 foot bus and it cant turn separately like you normally see them turn. So my guess is that the driver was going too fast and tried to turn and the bus swings. Driver should have just gone straight and try to turn around somewhere else or call up command and ask for assistance.

Put all doors boarding on the animal lines and if right now fare payment on those lines are about 30% it will drop to under 10%.

With fare payment around 20-30% and the attitudes of those passengers on the Q6 the last thing I would put on that route are new Articulated buses. If MTA wants to convert that line to Artics they should just go to the scrap yard and get some of those old Orion Artics to run on that line.

With those new XD60 at JFK will they be for the q10 or is there some truth to the rumor that the god awful Q6 is going Articulated for the winter pick. Next time I'm there i'll check the farebox to see if jfk/far rock routes can be entered on them. On a side note, 5385 replacement engine came in so that bus will probably be back in service soon.

Well since someone said 5385 was out of service here is why. Got hit by a truck on the Van Wyke.

It was always a problem for the buses to make the right onto 134th from 149 so this change is an improvement. Making that right off the S Conduit is so much easier now. Far as an unsafe stop the crosswalks are right there and during school hours 2 crossing guards are at that location for the children.

I don’t see why all the complaints about rts buses because they were good buses 15 years ago.

So I was doing the sbs 52 this morning and this lady came on who I could see before picking her up was at the bus stop with other passengers right next to the fare machines that says over and over get ticket for sbs 52/53. She got on and attempted to use a metro card so I looked at her saying to myself are u kidding me. I guess she saw the no fares collected on board and just walked in. I didn’t say a word because she just walked on in and didn’t say nothing to me. So pulled into a stop and u guess it the eagle team. Their getting ready to give her a ticket and she’s blaming me.

So that’s where 5370 is at, no wonder Jfk is left to running shorties on the q10

Don’t see the love for 21yr old buses. They were good buses 15yrs ago but there time has passed. The Q6 and Q7 interline with non artic capable routes is probably the reason why those RTS buses are still at Jfk. All it takes is 3 artics to wipe out those remaining rts.

A couple of Artics maybe on the Q6 this afternoon. The pickup will be outside on the street where the Mta drop off is at.

Well I punched in the code for the Q52 on a jfk XD60 and this popped up.

I only look at weekday and it looks like 11 buses for a/m and 13 for p/m.

sbs q52 pick is out and it starts on 11/12/17. From the looks of things the first bus from beach54 is at 6am and the return will be at 7:25am that Sunday. Weekdays first bus is 5am and return is 6:10am. Considering that 18 out of the 23 weekday runs have no weekends off couple with low pay hours it’s not really a tempting assignment. I’ll pass

And 6122 broke down 1st day in service.

The hazard lights comes on automatically when the wheelchair ramp power switch is turned on except on the rts.

I just can't wait for the day when the MTA start installing destination signs on the buses which shows where the buses are going and not just the route numbers. And the signs need to be big and illuminated so that they can be seen from at least a block away in front of the bus and another sign should be facing the passengers so they can see the sign when boarding the bus. I make it a point that the sign is set and correct before the first passenger boards but years and years of driving these same people they still are shocked when the buses make short trips.

If she had time to get in front of the bus then she wasn't at a bus stop when the bus went by so I wouldn't pick her up. Nope, I'm not opening my doors until someone from the Mta who will take responsibility off me say so. Plus I can just imagine her getting on the bus and making a scene. Nope, I wouldn't do it.

about 1 in 100 driver will miss a rts. They were good buses 20 years ago but now they all need to be retired.

its inside the facility building but the front is facing out the door. Its in the new scheme and it's definitely 5989.

i thought I saw 5389 at the Jfk facility but a double take and it's actually 5989.

D60's were good buses 10yrs ago.

5365, Probably gonna be oos until the mirror is replaced so a BP unit will have to wait a bit more before going home.

Yes, they have at least 3 jacked up. 5380 had body damage but I think that was oos because of mechanical issues not the damage.
