  1. Somethin's really fishy about these Super Express QM routes taking very indirect routes in the nonstop section: today on the QM20 super express, it went across 36th St, 5th Ave, then 34th St to get to the tunnel, but then took the LIE to the BQE to Astoria Blvd, Whitestone Expwy, just to get to its regular route. And it crawled about two inches a minute nearly the entire way.... It's much simpler to just take the LIE to the Whitestone. As much as those highways have heavy traffic, at least they move
  2. What's an area in any of the boroughs that doesnt have a subway but could really use one?
  3. due to major electrical damage, the 6th Avenue line is shut down between Broadway-Lafayette and Second Ave for a long term period. Reroute the
  4. it was quick in Manhattan as it skipped the downtown loop, but then it crawled through the tunnel. It flew down the Gowanus and Prospect Expwy, but then crawled along Church, CI Ave, and Cortelyou Rd. It finally started moving again on Ocean Ave
  5. Great day down in Brooklyn by Sheepshead Bay. the BM3 took forever getting there but it wasn't all that bad. Coming back it felt really good to get a 2004 Orion VII CNG on the B4 that sounded good, like an actual bus and not a paper shredder like 90% of the low floor hybrids and other low floors do!
  6. i think a BxM7/8 hybrid is too long for an Express route. I would keep it contained to Co-Op in the Bx and maybe have it mirror the BxM2 in manhattan if you're thinking of a west side route. I also think BxM5 would be a better number than 12
  7. 2nd Avenue is a great alternative for the BxM1 north of 96th. 5th Avenue is NOT! 2nd Ave flows fairly quickly as things chug along, then again so does the FDR which is legal for buses to use NORTH of 96th.
  8. 5th Ave has terrible traffic in Harlem north of that park, and Inwood has gotten terrible too. Sometimes it takes 20-25 minutes just getting through Inwood. The express buses should really avoid 5th Ave when they dont absolutely neeed to use it. Madison Ave can be just as bad in rush hour, especially near the bridge where traffic can be backed up all the way to 116th. That's why I suggested the BxM18 should use the 3rd/Willis Ave Bridges which dont have the same traffic problems, or even the RFK if they need to. I also dont understand why many express buses dont use the FDR to 96th or 106th and avoid more traffic...
  9. the QM1/5/6/7/8/31/35/36 should use the LIE to Grand Central Pkwy to get to Union tpke. They'll beat the Queens Blvd traffic
  10. New routing for the BxM18. deegan-3rd/willis ave bridges-FDR-York/1st Avs-63rd St(southboud)/56th St(northbound)-5th/Madison Avs-23rd St-FDR-downtown loop that Queens express routes use. this new BxM18 will be significantly faster
  11. the BxM1 went so unnecessarily off route today getting in a ton of traffic. It took the deegan to Madison Ave bridge, then 5th Ave, 106th, Lexington getting killed with 5th Ave & Harlem traffic along the way. Could've been avoided if they just went to the Triboro or even the 3rd Ave bridge for that matter and stayed on the EAST SIDE as it is the EAST SIDE EXPRESS!!!!!! anyway, 5th & Madison Avs get such heavy traffic that buses should only use them if they really need to.
  12. Just a quick question. What depot does express bus 2587 come from?
  13. Took the S74 to the ferry and saw the most oddest thing ever.... a baby deer in the woods along the route! I would never thought I'd see a deer while riding a NYCT bus in NYC, just when you thought you seen it all... This is going back to 2008 but I was riding the Bee-Line 6 and I saw a group of deer along North Broadway in Yonkers
  14. The BxM3 running via the Harlem River Drive is becoming more common. They seem to be doing that along with the BxM1, BxM2 and BxM18 to avoid the Deegan and traffic issues. I actually wrote in and complained about how many times we've sat unnecessarily on the Deegan while the Harlem River Drive was moving, so they seem to be analyzing traffic more in real time where possible, which is good, as people were starting to become fed up. As for the BxM4, a lot of them will skip the Concourse entirely where possible and run via the Deegan to Woodlawn, or stop along the Concourse and then head over to the Deegan Northbound. I like the idea of going wherever there isnt traffic, but sometimes it takes FOREVER to get through Inwood via 10th Ave, passing Nagle, 204th, Dyckman just to get on the HRD (when the BxM3 uses it, they should go down 9th Ave, right on 202nd, then left on 10th Ave). The harlem traffic has also gotten bad lately so I wish more buses would take the FDR straight to 96th (at least the BxM1) and skip Harlem entirely. Also, during PM rush hours the HRD is worse than the deegan and buses may be better off taking local streets.
  15. I've been on a QM2 that skipped the QM20 portion once. went pretty fast. I've also been on a BxM3 that used the Harlem River Drive instead of the deegan. The craziest experience I ever had though, was a BxM4 going from Concourse to the deegan via triboro bridge, then took the FDR down to 96th, then went over to 5th Ave. Safe to say, that sped up the trip by a good 15-20 min, and it was awesome. I wish more buses would do that but this was back in 2006
  16. Have any of you ever been on an express bus that's gone off route to speed up time, whether it's to beat traffic or just skipping stops since not many passengers are on board?
  17. We should add more express service in the outer boroughs. bring back the skip stop service between 137 & 242 extend the rush hour super express nonstop from 180th to Gun Hill implement a new rush hour express service between 125 & Woodlawn when the returns, make the run express between Queensboro Plaza & Astoria Blvd during rush hours extend special rush hour service into Brooklyn via the Culver Line running Express down to Ave X
  18. when will the next MNRR or LIRR train conductor or any other job exam be? and when and where do you apply?
  19. When will the next bus exam be (NYCT or MTA Bus)? and when do you apply for it?
  20. When will the next subway Transit Worker (whether it be train operator or conductor) exam be? and where do you apply for it?
  21. I would revert the M1 back to Park Ave South to be honest. It had its own identity that way I also think some Bronx super express runs could use Park Ave in the nonstop section to beat some traffic
  22. How would extending the Bx20 to 263rd make it more unreliable?
  23. why does no bus serve Park Ave in Manhattan? are buses not allowed to use it?
  24. why does the Bx20 terminate at 246th St? That's a weird area for the last stop to be? Why not extend it to 263rd or maybe run the old Bx24 route through Fieldston, along with reviving the Bx24 from Riverdale/Fieldston-Fordham during rush hours. (obviously with a new number since there's a new Bx24 in Country Club)
