  1. If you find that you have difficulty wearing the NYCT issued boots then you must have the Alternate Boot form completed by a podiatrist. You are allowed two boots which Transit will reimburse you fo= the boots. (amount to be reimbursed is determined by brand you purchased). Boòts ordered must be on separate receipts for reimburse to occur anywhere from a few weeks to month). Boots don't have to be black. I ordered two of Timberland Pros with composite toe in brown and they were approved
  2. Yeah I was told by some veterans not to sign up for OT while you're on probation. Mostly because most accident/incidents occur during OT so you don't want to put your job in jeopardy.
  3. I know the letter I received said salary was $31.8792 per hour.
  4. Trust me you'll be able breathe a sigh of relief. Not to mention, good $$$$ in your pocket.
  5. No problem! I wish I knew about this forum after I applied and got hired. A lot of information being shared is very helpful.
  6. Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you. It's a beautiful thing to be sworn in. I remember that feeling. A few days ago, I turned down TO position since I took the same exam before I became employed as a Track Worker. Unfortunately, because it was Open Competitive and not Promotional that if I decided that I wanted to return to Track then it would be at Superintendent and Assistant Chief Track Officer discretion. I didn't want to take that risk so I'll just take the Promotional Exam when it comes out at end of the year. Congratulations JK!!! Welcome to NYC Transit. You're apart of the family now.
  7. They test each eye with and without corrective lens.
  8. Here are some additional DON'TS: 1. Get arrested for any offense because you will be fired immediately. 2. Become involved in workplace violence or sexual harassment incident. You will be fired immediately since NYC Transit has no tolerance. 3. Failure to wear your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 4. Refusal to obey direct order of Supervisor if task is apart of Rules & Regulations. 5. Become AWOL by failure to report your intended whereabouts while on duty or leave job site early.
  9. You will work full time. More than likely during a mini pick when you come out of class you will be work nights (overnights) since days jobs are usually taken by folks with seniority.
