  1. the problem with Suffolk Transit is that it receives way less passengers i mean Ct Transit Stamford receives 3 times more passsengers than Suffolk and its core population is about 1/5 of Suffolk Transit as a whole example, s58 bus runs hourly (except that huge gap between 10am and 12pm) and recieves less passengers than lets say the CT-S 34 or lets go on to the New Haven division where the demand of bus service is a huge must and sometimes can be packed and New Haven metro area has a bout 500.000 people the problem is that Suffolk residents depend on cars or in to a lesser extent the LIRR since short trips are super cheap (3 USD) i must say the routes that should be eliminated are the feeder routes like the 1A 1B etc so i guess youre right if the budget cuts are as follow then the s40 extension is now a light favourite to happen what a bummer... a place without bus network is a desert and buses should be kept i wont mind the fare to be increassed to 2.50 and 2.75 or 3 dollars on the s92(since this route is the longest route in the nation at 70 miles or 110 km)
  2. I think that the best option is extending the s40 to Sunrise Mall to end all this discussion of the truncation of the n19 i mean extending the s40 is the ebst option why is it is quite simple,,,the s40 has history of being a long route from Freeport to Patchogue and a headway of 1h45 in similar routing to the s58 or s62 of SCT the difference is that the s40 trasversed nassau county at same level as its home jurisiction thats why the n19 was created prior to the MBSA creation later Long Island here are the options of the first s40 bus: departs 6am from both Patchogue and Sunrise Mall (but would commence at 5:00am from Bay Shore to arrive both terminals by 5:45am) the 6am bus would arrive the other pole at 7:25am for thus depart at 7:30am to return back to its origin point at 8:55am total amount of s40 buses needed: 6 buses plus 1 or 2 if by which one or two s40 buses enroute get malfunctioning the last s40 bus would depart at 9pm from both poles the following frequencies would dead head # the arriving 930pm and 10pm s40 which departed from the other pole at 8pm and 830pm BUT would be enroute to Bay Shore to arrive at 10:15pm and 10:45pm the bus shelter of Bay Shore the last s40 bus would make the same scenario (departing 1030pm) as the deadheading previous buses which would be arriving Bay Shore from Sunrise Mall at 1100pm and from Patchogue at latest 11:10pm
  3. the best solution to end this situation of the n19 trunncation from Babylon to Sunrise Mall is extending the s40 to sunrise mall...after all the penultimate 9:30 pm s40 would arrive at latest 10:55pm and thus coonect to the last n55 towards EHempstead and thus to NYC by way of the 24 hour n6...but that is my point of view now the s40 extension can benefit many since first of all the s40 was a very long route from Freeport to Patchogue that is twice the route the s40 is today and was sepetared to two entities because the s40 entered too much into juridisction of Nassau County which is represented by thats time MBSA (furthermore Long Island Bus and todays NICE)...if accounted toe ride between Freeport to
  4. Yeah Might be to not have it deadhead long kilometers
  5. I have to comment since this thread is fairly ignored I must see a pic of this famous 9951...what chassis it is it must be a new flyer
  6. Nice work revive the n19 pass sunrise with the modification of the s20...i believe that the n19 should be restore as it is an historic route of the Freeport Patchogue link (the s40 covers the other half of this route link) also there isn't a one seat ride from Freeport to Babylon or in itinerary. ...never forget that the n19 had a fairly GOOD last unit run of 930pm and a good uphold of the semi last s40 arriving at 925pm ...ten minutes after last last n72 leaves at 915pm
  7. Man can't believee the xxcelsiors. Break downn sooo qquickl. ..what a bbummer
  8. In timing is long but in trajectory it is shorter than the n20 (prior to 17 January) The discussion of the n35 to Oyster bay was discussed here a while ago and if is to be extended then the headway would be 75-80 minutes that is a 6:30pm n35 to Oyster Bay would arrive Oyster Bay at between 7:45-7:50pm rest 10 minutes and then depart 8pm towards Baldwin
  9. Lets not forget the n20 is the longest NICE route. ..the n22 is not that long to begin with since it goes straight down hillside avenue exceptions would be the mineola detour and RF Mall loop. ..also Flushing is more distant from the county line than Jamaica is to the line. A nominal n20 would take a 1/2 hour to finally reach Nassau county while the n6, n22, n24 makes it in 20 minutes ...even if the hypothetical n35 is to be extended to Oyster Bay it would still be second place behind the n20 bus (if the today's n20G-H refuse once again)
  10. They. Should reinstate the n20 Flushin- Hicksville and havr it run hourly andthe n20 to Great Neck every 1/2 hour. ..also the n20 Flushin- Hicksville wouldSKIP the great. Neck loop and go straight down northern blvd(minor ddetour in Roslyn) ...also have a 1/2 hourly n20 from Great Neck-Hicksville N21 should keep its currentroute. Unless is the people who decide the futuree of the n21
  11. So sad the foothill buses are being retired at such a young age The s58 and s62 are considered brother buses between SHMall and Riverhead i mean a fellow passenger can either take the s58 or the s62 to Riverhead and areas east of fresh pond road (where the s62 separates from the s58 and heads north to port jeff.)...i can see why the s62 is kept at Hauppauge also the s62 terminates at outer areas of the office buildings at commerce drive and Adams road which is quite close to oser ave/marcus Blvd (the weekend terminal of the s33) and quite close to the detour the s27 makes on weekends. ..i say if the s62 terminates in this area it should have a Saturday service from this terminal and omit the north complex Dennison building and NYS department building. ..go straight up nys 347 to SH mall..then again for this to happen it would need a major boost on the passenger count on the outer areas But i would leave the s62 as it is also it is the plan B route to take to SH Mall after the s58 suffers a major stunning two hour gap right after the morning peak runs. ..years passes by and SCT don't fix that filling of that gap on the s58
  12. The s62 route is super long i mean a driver can finish its days work with two roundtrips (Happauge- Riverhead)...it is clearly that the Riverhead- Pt. Jeff trajectory is historical for the s62...the Hauppauge extension came afterwards much after possibly the office buildings opened over there and many offenders are carless. ..so the s62 was extended to benefit the users from Hauppauge to Port Jefferson with the latter considered the checkpoint of the s62 (much Coram is to the s58 the 3rd longest bus route of SCT) ...the s62 gets most of itspassengers between smith haven mall andMount Sinai. ..both times i took the s62 very few passengers take the s62 from/ to Hauppauge but it is kept for service coverage Forgot that nys 25A existed sorry
  13. So where macys stands todayexisted way before SHMall..can imagine the s64 using GM new look fishbowls, ..so the run the s64 made is a fusion of the s56 and s60...but the s62 runs that trajectory from SH Mall to Pt. Jeff. RR via nys 347
  14. Man that's a super LONG route. ..almost 4 hours of headway. ..that would mean a nominal driver would conclude its work day making the 317 route roundtrip (8 hours) Nearly $10 between Philadelphia and Ashbury Park kind of expensive but is Jersey. ..if im not mistaken given the long headway and cost...i would assume this route is longer than the s92 although the latter is very long but at a bargain price of. $2.25 But thanks for the note
  15. I have a question Which is the longest local NJT bus route ...i need to know to make a report on that route
  16. My bad buddy was was understood at ease. I forgot the s21 was a SCT bus...the Sunrise Mall-WW Mall route eliminated because of low ridership Also 10-4 on the s20 aclaration got all confused
  17. The n19 omitted Amityville RR station to not overthrow the s20 service so it went straight down to Carmans road I guess its kind of nice to see the s20 covering this service. ..was Not my wishing but is a fair deal Thank you SCT for remembering that Suffolk residents ALSO use public transportation NOT like NICE officials who are busophobics (mixture of bus and xenophobic)
  18. The s20 has now two frequencies *Sunrise Loop which goes to Babylon via the old n19 route eastbound and stop at Babylon to return back to its terminus at Sunrise Mall via its current route * Babylon Loop which goes to Sunrise mall via its current route and after arriving Sunrise mall it would then return to its Terminus at Babylon via the old n19 route I would call it the s20 and s21
  19. The double transfers NICE offers has a major impact to have the routes partially eliminated I mean you're absolutely right one can easily transfer to another bus and then another bus (as long as it is beforehand 2 hours) As for the n19...it was good knowing thee The n81 should be revived as it connect Hicksville with Sunrise mall and the n73 from Hicksville to Wantagh via Jerusalem but maybe just maybe the routes would pass every 2 hours (that is have one bus run on the n81 and n73 for starters)
  20. Wellspeaking in retrospect the: N2/8 N19 (obviously) N46 N73 (no cornflower loop) N80 or n81(whichever had a higher ridership prior to the cuts)
  21. Tell me about it the TLC are vultures (especially if the drivers are Dominicans) ...well as the TLC commissioner is Dominican what can we expect I guess that may be the reason why in NYC many prefer the bus or subway since $2.75 is a bargain next to $8 bucks (three times the charge of a normal MTA ride) Also i can see now CLEARLY why in Nassau and Suffolk people opt for the LIRR since its fares are true bargains. ..$3 from the gap between Rockville Centre and Babylon .etc I guess taxis tend to be a major underdog with passenger counts next to powerhouse MTA...my consideration for a suburbian taxi is to have its cars packed that is carpool and win up to 4x a regular charge and thus get better revenue. ..now i feel really bad for the taxis. ..heck i remember a taxi driver in Montauk last August telling me that it charge me $5 from the RR station to the Gazebo which wasn't really far compared to what he exaggerated the walking
