  1. Man lucky Suburbans pay a cheap ride...one reason i should dislike TLC evn more
  2. The problem with the n14 is not the taxis that traverse its former route but how people move from the outer areas of the village ctr. ..i mean the taxis can take you to your home but won't pass there unless you call them which would be a more higher fare since you're dialing a cab But since it is the burbs i would assume the nominal pricing is a bargain compare to the more vulture like TLC taxis of NYC...compare a $8 ride from 34 street Herald sq. To Rockefeller ctr with a taximeter payup of almost $5.35...i guess thats why im always in defense to save bus routes since i live where the vulture taxis are Changing subject to seeing the s20 modifications i would assume that the n19 won't go back to Babylon. ..i mean were talking about a 50+ year of bus service from Freeport to Babylon even before that mall existed which is why the n19 went there...the s20 is good but is a feeder route not a key route. ..before the existence of the MBSA the n19 already went to Babylon so i would clearly assume it should rightfully go back there although the timing should be modified
  3. Ask the people who agglomeration at Smith haven mall or Coram Plaza. ..right there are a clear 7-10 passenger count and would feel confident to stay up to 9:15pm (Smith Haven Mall) or 9:45pm (at Coram Plaza ) Although the s58 should head to Middle Island Artist Lake and arrive therr between 10:00 and 10:15pm...after that it deadheads to the coram yard arriving it by 10:30pm thus right there the yard closes its doors to await the last s58... Last month when i was waiting for the s61 to Patchogue i saw many people awaiting the last s61...i think drivers passing through Coram (or SHM) can assume to know the people who aglomerate there and as it arrives it says w/o asked." LAST S61 BUS TO PATCHOGUE" or. "LAST S58 TO RIVERHEAD, EAST NORTHPORT" Yeah i forgot all about sunrise hwy since NYS 27 is more closer to Ronkonkoma than W.F. Pkwy is
  4. I thoughtparody mmeant like similarly. ..thanks for the correction Well yeah the s71 deadhead from Shirley is long although it goes all William Floyd Parkway to either Coram yard or Ronkonkoma yard (whichever it rest) and the s66 from Riverhead toRonkonkoma is very long almost like making a return trip to Patchogue. ..i would guess the s66 deadheading from Riverhead goes to take the 495 at Calverton I guess that may be the other reason for the last s66 arriving Riverhead at 7:40pm to make a last run at 7:50pm...is to at least get some revenue from fare paying passengers as it heads to Patchogue and thus close to Ronkonkoma and would end up getting some money and not deadheading like i mentioned from Riverhead Also the s58 arriving at 8:30pm should make a last run leaving at 8:45pm and arriving at Coram Plaza at 9:45pm and thusdeadheads to the depot of the aforementioned town name (Coram) since it isquite long to deadheads from East Northport to Coram with no revenue plus (likewise to said s66 leaving Riverhead at 7:40pm)
  5. So converting estimations that would be a 2 km distance w/o bus sservice. ..a distance parody to from Fordham Road to Mount Eden Avenue. ..woah that is a very long distance to walk But hey compare that mere distance to the areas not serve by any bus route. (N73,n80.etc.)
  6. Ohhh nowthat's new news to hear. ..well between carmans rd andcounty line rd is a mere two blocks away Why does the s58 use the Ronkonkoma depot on Sundays. ..coram depot is closed sundays So in conclusion the s58 has de facto the longest deadhead for SCT since the s92 like you mentioned co-share sunrise hard and the Hampton jitney yards
  7. Well all is to scrapping that route theory. ..although SCT years ago spoke of that extension like the s33 extension to Smith Haven Mall...so for some its like a faith matter but now virtually obsolete with the new s20 run through the n19 corridor between Sunrise Mall and Babylon And gotcha s20 won't use Unqua road but Carmans road BTW speaking of large deadheads the last s58 after reaching East Northport where does it deadhead to Ronkonkoma or where EBT is housed or another depot
  8. Mmm but the last s40 deadheads from Patchogue and Babylon. ..i would assume that the garage is at Bay Shore. ..Amityville (Sunrise Mall) and Bay Shore is almost equidistant to Bay Shore and Patchogue. .then again the scheduling would be as follow Semi last and last s40 departing Patchogue 8:30Pm (to Sunrise Mall) to arrive at 9:45pm...layover up to 10pm run to BBabylon only (no service past Babylon) then deadheads 9:30Pm (To Babylon) to arrive at 10:15pm then deadheads West-East last two routes 8pm and 9pm towards Patchogue (notice the 8pm route would make the return trip only to Babylon RR leaving at aforementioned 930pm) 10Pm would be run to Babylon only. To say much a normal s40 makes the run in between 40-45 minutes so if the 7:30pm s40 departs Patchogue it would arrive Babylon RR at 8:15pm then a 20-25 minute run to Sunrise Mall which would arrive in between 8:35-8:40pm. (20-25 minute rest for the driver) Total runtime for the s40 would be between 70-75 minutes (almost the same timing of the s66) But this judgement was a optional theory now it is obsolete as the s20 got modified
  9. Not in favour of the new s20 modifications. ..was more towards a s40 extension to Amityville via the old n19 itinerary Also i dislike the new usage of the computer announcements. ..i mean it just displays the route number and its final destination. ..i like when it displays us the date and time and spontaneously appears a major intersection and the town or village it belongs like example: approaching Southampton Hospital. ..Southampton Also the 10 minute between sunrises mall and Amityville is because of the very very long traffic light change at NYS 27 and Unqua Road
  10. The deadhead of the n70 from Melville is considered very long away...is like the neighboring s58 deadheads from East Northport after arriving at 8:30pm to head all the way to Yaphank. ..that's very very far away The n1 deadheading isnt much to deal with since its route is rather short the reason why the n1 takes long to complete a route is because of the many stops it makes plus the many of traffic signals. ..remember Elmont and Valley Stream border NYC and is highly urbanized and thus uses many traffic signals
  11. So if its ridership is popular why the talks towards eliminating the n88 I think the n88 should secede from NICE and become an independent route or a shuttle for the LIRR That can help save the n88 from future scrapping
  12. 20:15 is 8:15pm and 21:20 is 9:20pm The 24 hour clock is sometimes used in transit like for instance in the MVM and the SBS machines although the transfer metrocard display the more famous am/pm mode So the last n20 leaves Hicksville at 920pm ???
  13. The n88 is. Like the s47 or the s94...its ridership is very poorly but being bus lines that serve a summer vacation resort the funding comes from NYS as the n88, s47 and s94 serve Jones Beach, Robert Moses and Montauk Point Respectively To say much out of the three the s94 is the very least used...when i went to Montauk Point last September i was the ONLY passengers onboard the bus route roundtrip. ..that is i was the only one to solitate a transfer from the 10c (as there aren't any more SCT routes east of East Hampton) and the driverssaid. "Lighthouse" To say much the s94 might die soon but as it uses only one bus unit and belonging to a rich depot (Hampton Jitney) i won't see the s94 die so soon although it should terminate at the RR station and not the gazebo. .but if is as it is then a tourist must dismount at East Hampton and take the 10c and then transfer at ease to the s94 paying $2.50 Back to NICE. ..the n88 if people don't do anything about it (like for instance disregard taking thy cars) it can de deregistered. ..and unlike the s94 the n88 dosent have a rich depot
  14. As long as the two transfers apply ...im down with the n20G and n20H after all if a 9:07pmdeparts Hicksville it should arrive Great Neck at approximately 9:55pm thus transferring to the last n20G at 10:pm arriving Flushing at 10:25pm just in time for the last transfer to the train or any connecting buses Also now you get how bad is to feel to be stranded. ..i feel them
  15. When i was in Freeport i saw in a bulletin attention boarding sign of the new n19 service In human written form i saw it said : NO TO N19 TRUNCATION i guess some users are in discomfort of the truncation of the n19 but like mac said all is timing in the future. ..first NICE must fix their budgets then after all is calm they can resuscitate some of the eliminated routes...in these would be resucitastes the n2/8 but in a whole new form much like the MTA q38 is ...the n73 going straightdown jJerusalem. With no cornflower loop...the n81 would be revived and last but not least the n19 although their would be alternative routes that is n19 service past sunrise mall would end after 7pm lets be honest the n19 can't make the needing of service past sunrise its ridership is low even though that day i dig farewell to the n19 Babylon- Freeport route about 3 passengers (incl. Myself) got onboard I can say the n46 can be revived as well as the n17 but rush hours only
  16. Ive seensome of those buses by Roslyn when i travel on the n20...i won't say they're gillig but Ford's or im mistaken They're new if im also not mistaken here...i guess the best option is to check out the scheduling in the website of the municipality of north Hempstead
  17. To say much i can guess that prior to the budget cuts the n20 was the longest NICE bus or was that position handed to the n72
  18. I remember two months before the NICE hearings i said about making the n20 bypass great neck and have the n21 access it as well as the roslyn bypass for the n20 and n21 access roslyn. ..well now the n20 is splited up in..two and pepolpeople coming from Hicksville the universities Roslyn and manhassat must transfer by law at Great Neck. ..as NICE issues TWO transfers in a period of 2h15 most passengers are actually riding the n20G for ffree. Since the majority of connecting passengers are to transfer to a local MTA Bus or more to know the train
  19. Molloy college should be considerate i mean the n17 is dead now by law mercy hospital people should walk through the campus. ..i mean have them make a HUGE loop is absurd and possibly dangerou. .is llike your heading to MetLife stadium and the NJT 164 won't stop at the entrance because it upholds traffic and one must disembark next stop (holiday inn hotel) which is almost 1km away
  20. I have a huge question. ..been doubtful of this situation When i take the trains late at night i can see many trains stored as resting (between 169 st and 75 ave) due for returning service ontime for the day beginning runs Now the question I'm asking is how does the motorman exit (or enter if to begin service next day) the stored trains does it wait for a next upcoming train and thus uses the doors between the end peak of the trains and keeps walking until it reaches a nearby subway station. ..forgetting it has to jump in and out as an acrobat since the door and the tracks are 150 cm high (almost a height of a normal human being) ...also that same question goes backwards when beginning service next day Or does it await a garbage car train and laps between the parked trains and the garbage trains Help me resolve this doubt
  21. Yeah the BL 20 is a must for 24/7 service and BL 60 from New Rochelle to Fordham since this latter serves a busy Boston Road in the Bronx that has no bus service overnight hours (BX30 runs til 1230am)...also a BL 13 should arrive Port Chester at 11:40pm and depart 11:50pm to easy connection to the last CT-S 11 bus BL 1 or 2 should be 24/7 since it serves a very busy and bronx like south west Yonkers and the BL 42 run as well ...headways on the BL 1 and 42 should be 45 minutes and 60 minutes respectively (that is only have a single bus unit running for these two bus lines) But well all depends to Westchester county.
  22. Youknow i realise that when last Saturday i made my farewell trip on the n20 and n19 (former full routes) when i took the LAST n19 from Babylon to Freeport and waited nearly an hour for a next n4 to Jamaica. ..i saw about 15 people boarding the n40 (possibly last run) to Mineola and i said in that moment how come a intra county bus can manage to receive many passengers. ..now i get noticed that it is one of the busiest routes in Nassau county. ..even busier than n22 n24 which have a heavy corridor and connect to a subway line in busy Jamaica. ..i know the n6 is the most heavily used NICE route but have to applaud the n40 not only to being a busy route but the most busiest NICE route that runs solely in Nassau county. ..if the ridership doesn't decrease and keeps on increasing it could in a near future become 24/7 and thus the first intra county bus route of NICE and the only bus route outside NYC to be a 24 hour service (NJT buses like the 62 or the 28 don't count in this discussion) By mid 2016 three bus routes 24/7 * n4, n6, n40
  23. Wow now i get it. ..but i thoughtt tthat MTA recauds lots of money as the. $2.75 fare ($1.35 if you ride two buses or connect between a bus or subway or vice versa) not to mention the millions of people who use MTA in the city. ..is by far the most richest transportation agency in north America (Mexico city doesn't count as it only handles its subway system and some feeder routes to the Metro as the city is filled with privately owned bus lines with no affiliation to the city funded subway) and lots of people fill the congested bus routes and subways (ex. Bx12, B46, M15 or the ) Now as NICE is solo the state won't cover much as NICE receives by fare payments about 20% and the state funds the majority (80%) ...SCT is much worst guess about 10% of its money is receive by fare payments and a vast majority by the state (90%) Counting a $2.50 fare from Orient Point all the way to Montauk (by way of the s92 and 10c) and a distance travelled. (Approx. 140 km or 87 miles) is considered the most cheapest bus ride in the United states (a typical metro north. Ride from grand central to Waterbury, CT. Is $14 dollars (these points are the same apart as Orient Point is to Montauk (via Riverhead) ...another comparison is a ride from Hauppauge East Hampton with a distance of 120 km and a fare of $2.50 (s62 then s92. the two most longest bus routes in Suffolk county and the northeast USA) is a true bargain compare to $20 from Penn Station to Riverhead which dist apart 123 km or 77 mi. (The same distance travelled on the s62 and s92) I'd to compared the SCT bus routes because as you can see SCT buses run a super long distance and are super quick (5x faster than the MTA buses and 3x faster than neighbouring NICE) but receive very few passengers still the bus agency is alive thanks to the state's majority funds. ..so in conclusion a s40 extension to amityville or a s66 last trip at 750pm is decided by the state not SCT sadly thats the main reason why SCTbuses are the last to see cchanges then again its top superiors have done its best (s66 extension to Riverhead, last s58 to east Northport at 645pm or a last s92 from Orient Point at 640pm arriving Riverhead at 8:00pm) To conclusion reviving the eliminated routes or truncation is a mere impossibility sadly. ..well all to just adapt P.S: SCT just recently added Sunday service. ..something not seen from a metropolitan bus agency
  24. If with the MTA, why would the MTA eliminate many of those routes. ..i mean the MTA has a lot of money. ..i get that the reductions suffered by NICE is because they're running solo w/o support of a more bigger authority. ..but why is it that with MTA is more worst. ..that im surprised Take for example the s42 (S.I.) it is one of the lowest rided bus routes of the MTA still it is alive because it has support from other bus routes covering Staten island
