  1. 100% this list gets extended, the list was established in 2020 but they didn’t start calling until 2021. 2025 Jan seems more likely the list will expire if anything.
  2. don’t get the hytest xrd’s. Comfortable but they break down very easily.
  3. You don’t have to bring anything. The will give you a bunch of paperwork and have a lot of different people speak to you guys. That’s about it. Just know your pass and BSC.
  4. I have jobs that I applied to in 2013 that still say “passed prescreening” and it’s 2022 if that helps.
  5. Interesting, the sheet I saw looks like there’s 4 cleaning spots on it. I know one for sure cuz I spoke to the foreman of the gang.
  6. Lasts sheet I saw for the last class had a cleaning spot on it. I think it was mixed actually, maintience and cleaning spots.
  7. They will get to you eventually. Just stay out of trouble and be ready.
  8. Once you start training you can get a random drug test at anytime.
  9. Yeah that was the track worker seniority number but they are into the 2,000s now I heard. 1500 is for the current exams list number.
  10. They have hired track workers since may of last year. When we got in they said they wanted to hire 200-250 new track workers and I think they are getting close to that number now.
  11. The main important thing is your boots. Make sure you always have those on with the rest of of your PPE they give you. There’s no dress code really wear some dickies, jeans etc.
  12. I work nights and I don’t use a jacket because when you work you sweat. I just use either a normal hoody or the thick wool dickies hoody if I know I’m going to a super cold spot. I know days are colder cuz you are on the structure but you have to wait til your second week to get an idea of where you are going.
  13. Gang size depends , it can be 6-12ish or so ppl in a gang depending on the size. And most locations have multiple gangs that report there. OT is not mandatory, unless it’s an emergency like storm watch or a train derails an hour or so before your shift ends. But for the most part you sign up for overtime. If someone calls out that’s not on you they won’t force you to work because of that. Yes there are a lot of locations to choose from.
  14. Question for all the new track workers coming out of class. Did they say you have to stay in your x picks until next pick or will they eventually tell you you have have to get something from a bid sheet?
  15. Hard to say the exact amount but it’s not much compared to men. I’ve worked with a few so far. But it’s very rare at least in my zone it seems.
  16. I’m not exactly sure, there’s probably a few more ppl on this forum with more exp down here that can answer that question for you. I would assume though during training when you do your x pick, you would prolly be stuck with w/e you pick for a while. I could be wrong though.
  17. Training is 2 weeks in class 4 weeks in a yard. 2 week training in class room can be pms 3-11pm or Ams 8-4pm, depends on how they schedule it. The Yard training for 4 weeks is 8-4pm. You will be off sat/sun during the whole 6 weeks. Shift after training varies but for you will most likely be nights 10pm-6pm or 11pm-7pm in various locations. A lot of these types of questions have been answered a bunch of times in this forum already. When you get time just start from page 1 and read through everything. There’s a lot of great information in it.
  18. That was a much different time (recession) max this list will get extended is prolly 1 year. If that which I highly doubt. MTA makes a lot of money with these exams.
