  1. Transferring from one debit card to another with a Senior account. It is easy enough to add a payment method, but shifting senior status from one card to the other requires a call to Customer sevrice, then wait 2 business days for it to take effect.
  2. This is how Eagle Team and Fare-Capping meet. It ain't nice: https://hellgatenyc.com/the-mtas-farebeating-crackdown-on-buses-is-a-mess
  3. They can hasten the process by stopping the silliness that one must have a senior Metrocard in order to get a senior OMNY account. I had to get one, which took months by mail, it will never see the light of day, only to use its serial number to apply to OMNY for my debit card. So they require a new Metrocard to convert to OMNY, while they are trying to get rid of Metrocard infrastucture. Makes sense only in MTA
  4. Nobody cares what they do in other countries, or even Philadelphia. Taking time to queue up to tap out at stations won't be tolerated.
  5. Why do they have to implelment it on LIRR and MN if Metrocard goes away ? I don't see making everyone tap in and out at every station as something the public will accept, then stick stanchions up everywhere.
  6. For that reason, I opened a no min balance, no fee checking account at Citizens Bank ("One Deposit") for just this purpose. If they hack it , they won't get very far.
  7. Why not just use a bank debit card and screw them and their OMNY card and machines ?
  8. Will they ever resolve posting Trip History, or is that an insurmountable obstacle for this $700 million project ?
  9. Get something like this and attach to belt reel so it won't crack: https://www.amazon.com/Bluemoona-Pcs-Frosted-Horizontal-Business/dp/B015DMR6F6/ref=sr_1_16_mod_primary_new?crid=4YWRIBC2VC3B&keywords=rigid%2Bcredit%2Bcard%2Bholder&qid=1699022201&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=rigid%2Bcredit%2Bcard%2Bholder%2Caps%2C65&sr=8-16&th=1
  10. 2) Why is this happening? In an effort to improve customer experience, the Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ) is collaborating with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to unite their separate payment systems, through OMNY, allowing customers to travel seamlessly to and from John F. Kennedy International Airport as well as through the New York public transportation system. 3) What does OMNY have to do with this? OMNY is the contactless fare payment system for public transportation in the New York region. Over time OMNY plans to unify New York’s subways, buses paratransit and commuter rails. AirTrain JFK is OMNY’s newest addition through partnership with the Port Authority. For more information about OMNY, visit https://omny.info/ Do note what they did NOT say: PATH is not specifically mentioned above.
  11. That is a silly article. So what if Long Island and Orange County have different fare structures. Nobody in the Hamptons cares what it costs to go to Port Jervis. They are different markets with varying demand with differing cost structures. What is merging fare zones going to accomplish other than causing huge cliffs from one zone to the next, causing people to drive closer in ? Look at the jump from Zone 4 to 7 and 12 to 14 on the LIRR, who went overboard merging fare zones in the 19780's. None of that has anything to do with OMNY. OMNY is here to serve us, not for us to serve OMNY. They make like OMNY are the holy tablets to abide by.
  12. Airtrain turnstiles look easy to jump. Does anyone do it ? Far more benefical to avoid a $8.25 fare over a $2.90 one.
  13. PATh already has a tap card that can be replenished on one's PC. I don't see any reaosn to change it other than to use one's bank card or phone. That alone is not worth spending $99.4 million to replace.
  14. Too bad tourists don't simply take the Q10 to Kew Gardens LIRR or the IND @ Union Turnpike.
  15. I have a tiny checking account at Citizens Bank with no fees, no minimums used solely for OMNY and commuter train ticket purchases. I applied for a senior Metrocard for no other reason than to get its serial number and convert my OMNY account to senior. I see no reason to ever get an actual OMNY card.
  16. " he said no it will not be delayed because I have not heard anything that will be delayed. " It will be deemed "delayed" only after they blow the next target date, which you can bet they will.
  17. EZpass was original though to be one huge system for everyone. Then the indiviudal agencies went their separate ways. While still inter-operable, each is locally managed, branded, and some charge "foreign" EZpass accounts as cash, like the NY Service Center. I don't know why PATH is bothering to change at all if they are ignoring OMNY. They already have a tap Quickcard.
  18. So they don't integrate with commuter rail. Not necessary. They won't give out discounts, will not take the revenue hit. if it means commuter rail passengers will always have to tap out at stations like on SEPTA, that won't be tolerated here. People are running for their cars and last two taxis, don't want to queue up while people fumble with their phones and OMNY or bank cards like at a a toll booth.
  19. I just got my Senior Metrocard today, not that it will ever see the light of day, except for maybe a NICE Bus, not that I plan to do so. All I need is its serial number so as to pair it off with my OMNY Debit card, which I diid. They should give you the option of getting a Virtual MC and save the expense making a useless card.
  20. Too bad that they cannot issue a virtual senior Metrocard upon request by a checkbox for when only a serial number is needed to upgrade to OMNY. It would save them some expenses. I am going to shred the thing once I get it and cut it over.
  21. I don't like to wave my phone around in public. I keep it strapped in my belt holster. I am too cheap to buy an OMNY card. I have a special bank account with no minimum balance, no fees, and keep a minimum of $2.75 in it or whatever I anticipate for planned trips. I also use the card to buy LIRR westbound tickets. I use Traintime eTix for eastbound trips on my phone. That debit card is in a clear acrylic case attached to a chained belt rail normally used for keys. Then I don't have to take my wallet out to get to it. I have transferred from NJT to LIRR with as little as 2 minutes to spare. I'm a tourist from New Jersey. But given the crime, I will no longer use the subway, only a bus within Manhattan, or the Q32, or the LIRR, or NYC Ferry to get to Queens. Too bad NYC Ferry doesn't accept it, but I also applied for their senior discount. It comes down to bringing their approval letter to the manned ticket booth at Pier 11.
  22. I want a senior OMNY account, but not a physical card, just continue with my Debit card. It sounds like you can only do that by transitioning from a Senior Metrocard, which I never had. The last time I used Metrocard was a couple of years ago before I was 65. So I just applied for Senior Metrocard, which I should have in two weeks. It will never leave my house, and I will transition it to my Debit card.
