  1. People can just take the and transfer to the at Lex-63. The and are reliable most of the time and the doesn't need any changes. Reducing the amount of trains would be hell at Lower Manhattan, Barclays and Bay Ridge. There is no use for a free transfer from Fulton to Barclays. That's a long distance, plus not a lot of people are going to take the anywhere besides Broadway/Metropolitan Ave.
  2. My god, they are really going back and forth with the dates.
  3. 1.) The / / already has enough trains to run. It doesn't need another line to delay things. 2.) The tracks are elevated and doing construction there would be catastrophe traffic-wise. 3.) That would cause another Myrtle Ave situation and have an even more dangerous crossing considering the / pass through there. 4.) Underground construction is way safer and would be much better to do it at Utica Ave on the Fulton Street line (through another platform)
  4. Exactly why? There's no purpose at all for late night service considering the and cover the entire route already. The reason why the , , , and trains run as shuttles is because they're the only local lines that have their own stations that separate from the express lines. (i.e Metropolitan Ave, Bay Ridge - 96 St, 148 St - Lenox Yard, Eastchester - Dyre Ave)
  5. Hopefully when they extend the / to the Bronx (via 3rd Av), they should connect it with the at Gun Hill Road. I propose Gun Hill Road should have an upper 3/4 track level for / service and a lower 3 track level for the to terminate at (in case of a reroute). The / from there would go via Gun Hill Road to Co-Op City. (as well as making a connection to / trains at both Gun Hill Road stations)
  6. Were it at late nights only, it could work. The shuttle wouldn't interfere at all. Only the runs on Lexington Ave along with the . Plus like I said, if the Utica Ave extension ever becomes a thing, this will help bring late night New Lots service easily without extending the shuttle.
  7. When and if the MTA decides to make that Utica Ave extension for the or , they should extend the during late nights there to replace the via Utica since it'll run to New Lots at late nights, replacing the . The doesn't really need to be extended since the / runs local anyways at late nights and the / runs local as well during that time.
  8. So far, it's been on IND lines like the , / , , , and . Basically, the entire IND minus the . Progress is going nice so far. Not long till we see one on the rest of the BMT lines besides the and Franklin Ave . Probably testing on Broadway/Downtown Brooklyn is next.
  9. Well, the & / & share cars from each other (R160s, R143s, R46s, R42s and R32s), while the has separate rolling stock from the (R160s and R32s). Can anybody correct me on this if I'm wrong?
  10. The MTA might as well try retro-fitting some R68s on the and trains with possible LED displays next year considering the long delays.
  11. They might as well call it the R-1SevenDE-NIne-AL because Bombardier won't admit they can't do anything right.
  12. Hopefully if the is extended to Brooklyn, they could use the nearby Hugh L. Carey tunnel or maybe part the abandoned Atlantic Avenue tunnel.
  13. I think they should honestly revive the as the Broadway AND Flushing Express. This will help tell the difference between local and express trains (Because people are too stupid to read the signs), give people who live in Bronx a fast travel to eastern Queens quicker, and helps with traffic. Plus, there should be a skip from Dyckman St to 242 St- Van Cortlandt Park because train exclusive stops aren't really good for people who live in Bronx and are going to line-exclusive stops. They could just build a tunnel from Times Square onwards, connecting in with the the at 5th Ave. This also benefits the line in case an incident happens between Manhattan and the Corona Yard. trains could just operate from Bronx to Manhattan as an alternative to service. And, if case of there being a problem at the Hudson Yards station, they can just reroute some trains via the Broadway local.
  14. I think Chambers Street station on the is need of a overhaul. The station is one of the worst looking stations in Manhattan (if not, the worst). It's also a real tease that a few blocks away, the Fulton Mall was built instead of repairing this station. (I'm not dissing on the Fulton Center BTW) They need to wall up the other unused side platform and make it wheelchair-accessible. (As well as modernizing the station) People could just use the Lexington Avenue Line as an alternative. Canal Street can serve as a temporary last stop, but there needs to be also a fix of the abandoned side of the station to allow the abandoned tracks to be used again.
  15. Plus, the can't be able to hold express service with 4 cars on rush hours.
  16. Because they're probably going to use the existing R68s from the to make these full length cars and more cars used up from the current R68 fleet on the means less trains. Taking a lot more trains from the Coney Island yard would not benefit the other trains running.
  17. No, I never said they'll use R46s. I'm just saying that when the shuts down in 2019 and the R179s hopefully comes to the by then, I think the should use some extra R46 sets from the because of increased service on and trains. Making only 8 cars sets from the existing R68 cars on the could cause more delays. Plus, it's been a while since R46s ran normally on the line.
  18. In fact, the is especially going to need the extra R46s in 2019, when the shuts down and service rises significantly.
  19. Hopefully when they get the R179s on the , they could add extra R46 sets to the and lines for better rush hour service.
  20. TBH, what we need is a 5th Avenue line. People on 1st Avenue could just easily walk one block to the 2nd Avenue Subway. 5th Avenue is like 3 blocks from Lexington Avenue and 5 blocks from 2nd Avenue. That's a big walking distance. I propose that the should be extended via 63rd Street, w/ the until it curves onto Madison Avenue (from Lexington Ave/63rd Street onwards), and goes via 5th Avenue. Also, give the 8 cars (and a bigger fleet) to provide for the extra riders in Manhattan. This way, the could go via express and add a middle platform to some stations. - 145 St to Church Ave (5th Ave Local and Crosstown Local)
  21. I think when the train returns in November, the MTA should build a new tunnel so it can connect to the Crosstown line into Hoyt-Schemerhorn seeing as train service to Manhattan is shutting down in 2019. This will make less crowds on the / lines and allow more passengers to get on the Crosstown Line without crowding. (because all those hipsters can't fit in 4 cars) Astoria - Ditmars Boulevard to Greenpoint Ave (except late nights), Whitehall Street (late nights)
  22. Hopefully, Lexington Ave traffic improves by at least early November.
  23. I have some ideas that are hopefully good and will help people who live in southeastern Brooklyn easily to get Coney Island. - Van Cortlandt Park to 242nd Street - Avenue N (except late nights) Sheepshead Bay (late nights only) <via Utica Ave> Since there's been plans for extending the to Red Hook, you might as well give it to the . Even then, there would still be low ridership. But then, extending it via the Eastern Parkway line from Franklin Ave will make service even more convenient. Then, it'll split up with the 4 along Utica Ave (from Crown Heights - Utica Avenue) and Flatlands Ave until it gets to Avenue N, meeting up with the and . - Wakefield - 241st Street to Sheepshead Bay, New Lots Avenue (special rush hours only) Along with extending the and along Utica Ave, another good idea would be to extend the and along Nostrand, where it meets up with the and at Avenue N. Then it goes down Neptune Ave to Sheepshead Bay, connecting with the and lines. - Woodlawn to Avenue N, (except late nights) New Lots Avenue (late nights only) Basically the same, but extended along with the . - Eastchester - Dyre Ave to Sheepshead Bay, New Lots Avenue (special rush hours only), Utica Avenue (rush hours only) Same as what I said about the extension.
  24. Another few ideas I have that could prevent traffic in some areas. - Jamaica Center to Euclid Ave (except late nights), World Trade Center (late nights only) This can help prevent long waits on the line as well as reduce transfers. - 168 St to Lefferts Boulevard This can actually make the A trains less confusing to some riders. This would reduce the wait for a Lefferts Boulevard/Far Rockaway bound train. Lefferts Blvd riders can just transfer to the C on the express track and get there. Then, there would be no more Lefferts Blvd bound A trains. - 207 St to Far Rockaway, Rockaway Park (rush hours only) Just the same thing I said about the extension. Lefferts Blvd service would be replaced with the line. - Washington Heights to Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway I think the L train should be extended as a local train via 10th Avenue. I feel like this is a good way to revive the V as a train to Metropolitan Avenue and as the 10th Avenue Express to Washington Heights. - 186 St to Metropolitan Ave Like I said before, the V train as a Myrtle Avenue local and a 10th Avenue express might make the line useful again. It would help serve as an alternative to the Central Park West line, make crowds at 42nd Street decrease, and also establish a new Hudson Yards portion.
  25. I feel like the & lines should be extended like how the M did on rush hours to Bay Parkway. But instead, have the run as the West End Local and the run as the West End Express at all times. Also, probably extend service to Coney Island on late nights and have the run as the Sea Beach express. That way, people can get to Manhattan from the West End line way quicker and makes use of the middle tracks on both lines.
