  1. Do you happen to know if cleaners are required to operate heavy machinery? I also heard that they are sometimes required to move buses when assigned to bus depots. Do you know if any of that happens to be correct?
  2. I found it a bit strange also. Like you, I thought the only thing needed to be a cleaner was a high school diploma, which I have and wrote down on the application they gave me when I went to Livingston street. Though they never asked to see my actual high school diploma, which I brought with me when I went down there both times. Perhaps I should have shown it to them, even though it was clearly stated on my application that I graduated high school, but no one at the desk asked for it. I thought there would have been a more formal sit down after I did my medical exam, but I did not even get the chance to come in for a medical. I am very surprised that they said I was not chosen to be appointed to the cleaner position based on their review of my qualifications, which could only be from the application that I filled out when I went there. Very strange and frustrating, unless they changed the qualifications that a cleaner needs to have, but I doubt it. It's a shame because I took this test for conductor in 2008, and I really was hoping for the opportunity to get in to the MTA as a cleaner, I really needed it, but no luck. As you said I need to keep trying.
  3. I went in for my second drug test for cleaner off this exam. Two weeks go by and I get a letter in the mail that says after reviewing your qualifications you were not appointed to the cleaner position. They did not interview me, see my resume or look at my 21 page booklet. They must be basing it on the application that I filled out while I was waiting. Are there actually qualifications that they look for just to be a cleaner? It's not hard, you can learn anything you need to know on the job. I am so disgusted with the MTA. Why have me come in a second time and do the entire process again for nothing? They already had the same application with my same experience from the first time I came in. What the heck is their problem? I have a clean record with no parking tickets nor any kind of unlawful activities. I just don't understand.

  5. Has anyone heard anything about the cleaner jobs being offered from this exam list? I went in for pre employment and drug test on November 8th, and passed my drug test. No one has contacted me and I can hardly get through to anyone on the phone and when I do I get different answers. They keep telling me to check my email and also that only person there handles all the cleaners and this person is the only one who has the files and no one else but her knows anything, and she hardly answers her phone but will just give me the standard check your email response and hangs up on me.
  6. Yeah I still have not heard anything. Every time I call I get a different answer. Apparently only person handles all of the cleaner jobs and I rarely am able to get her on the phone. When I do, she just says check your email and won't give an actual real answer. I heard that the list I am on expires on the 30th of January. Seems like I am out of luck.
  7. Trying to be hopeful but after my last phone call with them, it's hard to be, given what they told me.
  8. I called many times before I was able to get through to anyone. I called about the cleaner position that I went for pre employment. They keep telling me different things. First they said that there was a hiring freeze on cleaners. Today they told me to once again check my email for something that may never come, which is really frustrating. They also told me that 300 people took the drug test, and to just keep checking my email and to keep calling. As the time approaches when this list expires, it seems that I won't be able to get this cleaner job with the mta. There is no order or process when your just a number on a list. They can easily skip over you without any warning and that's it.

  10. Has anyone heard anything about the cleaners being offered from this list? I went in for pre employment and drug test for a cleaner. The last time I called they told me that there was a hiring freeze on cleaners. I have not been able to get in touch with anyone at mta who knows anything about the cleaners.
  11. Does the MTA send an email saying if they are not going to hire people after pre employment?
  12. It's hard to relax, wait and be calm for something that may never come at all. I don't know how they are doing things for cleaners from this exam but my pre employment letter said they had immediate vacancies for cleaners. It's been 5 weeks since I went in for pre employment and drug testing and I have not heard back from them. I called two weeks ago and I was told I don't have to call anymore. Why would they tell me not to call anymore? Are they reaching my number soon or have they skipped me and don't want me calling anymore? Does the mta tell people who went for pre employment that they are not getting hired or do they say nothing at all? Checking my email constantly for something that may never come is nerve wrecking.

I called them two weeks ago and they said I don't have to call anymore, just check my email, but still nothing. It seems like they are brushing me off, telling me not to call anymore and just check my email but still nothing, it feels like they are brushing me off and are just going to skip over me.
