  1. I was going through the LIRR capital dashboard and under the Rolling Stock portion, it says "Purchase Dual-Mode Locomotives" and "Purchase Coaches" and the description of them are: "This project includes the purchase of approximately 12 replacement revenue locomotives." and "This project includes the replacement of approximately 17 Diesel-Hauled Coaches." respectively. As far as I'm aware, they haven't announced who their supplier for 12 replacement revenue locomotives is but if I had to guess it will likely be the Siemens Chargers as an option order under Metro-North's order. I know that 12 isn't likely the number that they'll end up purchasing but I'm guessing the DE/DM30AC replacement will be done in separate orders or phases. The more surprising fact is the replacement of 17 diesel-hauled coaches which would be the C3's but I don't think the C3's are in need of replacement since they're only about 25 years old and normal coaches can go till about 40 years and I don't think any of them have been involved in serious accidents. Perhaps they're seeking supplemental diesel-hauled coaches or this is simply the summer seasonal lease which I don't think it would be on the Capital Dashboard. 2. I believe it’s around 120-130 cars in service. They run them on wkends tho they may be rarer.
  3. Anybody know the status of 3082, 3186, 3310 and 3311?
  4. This and some trips are interlined as well. Some small cutaways might work on one route and not another. You could have it so that the bus stays on one route while the drivers do reliefs but that’s not always possible.
  5. Adding on, you won’t have to memorize the fare zone types. They’ll give you everything in the question such as price of the ticket, quantity of tickets they are purchasing and you may also have to calculate the change they’re supposed to receive. So just brush up on addition, multiplication and subtraction.
  6. Yea, 3276 is not retired. Guess who is sitting on it currently on the Qm20.
  7. How about reading the last couple of pages on this thread and if you have anymore questions I'll be more than happy to answer them.
  8. If you’re fast and you know the material, you’ll definitely be out by the hour if not 2.
  9. When its mate got mated with the other wrecked set and they put 6062 out to pasture. They parted out 6214 as well.
  10. Does anyone know the status of 3310 and 3311?
  11. The buses themselves will be physically parked at Gun Hill (artics) and Manhattanville (standard). Operators are told to report 1 hour earlier than their assigned time to get shuttled there where they will pick up their buses and deadhead to their respective routes.
  12. #3350 broke down at Whitestone Expwy. A lot of these MCI's look like they're on their last legs. Some are running around with huge dents and gashes on the side lol.
  13. I would also add to read the definitions and indications aloud. This way as you break it up into chunks to memorize, your mind subconsciously fills in the blanks when you stumble through the definition. For the longer ones like roadway worker, break it up, don't try to memorize it in its entirety. It will seem impossible at first but the more you do it, the better and more accurate you'll be. If you study for 2-3 hours day, you should know it all a week or two before the test and at that point, it'll just be review.
  14. I would suggest making flashcards for everything. The way that most people's minds work for memory is simply through repetition and even making the physical flashcards helps to get that memorization process started. When you know you get it right 100% of the time, put it aside and cycle through the ones you don't know. After you get them all, put them all back together and make sure you can do it 100% accurately because 99% right is 100% wrong!
  15. I think he means he’s a yard switcher, basically moves trains around the yard but I could be wrong. I don’t know if they refer to the crews that bring trains to layup and back out in revenue as switchers too.
  16. I don’t think too many people fail that interview. As long as you gave a response that wasn’t a straight no or you weren’t willing to learn, I think everyone passes it.
  17. LIRR M9 9197-9198 are at the Kawasaki plant.
  18. Of course, if the bus goes off-route, then the bus doesn't appear on bus time. I think the express buses have the screens set up to after the last pick-up stop, they go blank or just play ads until they reach the first drop-off in Manhattan. I've had a guy that would toggle his destination sign to "MTA Bus" or "Not In Service" after last pick-up stop for whatever reason then proceed to kick us off at 6th Av/36th St because he was lazy. Or the bus sometimes just has a broken tracker.
  19. If not in the Fleet thread, then where? Just random thoughts? I thought it should concern at least the Fleet and Depots thread, just saying that this bus may be oos for awhile due to damage.
