  1. Well the only factor that can determine this is time, depending on when the M96 SBS is ready, there should be more of a discernible variety of options of what fleet and depot the route may operate out of, but for now it is all behind closed doors.
  2. This tab is for New York City Bus related topics only, Coach USA, etc are not related in any way to NYCT and its operations. Can a mod please lock this @Lance @Cait Sith
  3. I am interested in seeing the options that offers via Outfront Media with the advertising formats available.
  4. Well the Student MetroCard is only functional from Monday-Friday from 5:30am-8:30pm, capped at 3 trips, and for the students who make multiple transfers get a 4 trip, as well as a Special program pass good for two trips, night school Student MetroCard, and one variant which can be used during the weekends for those with weekend school. People may be economically stable enough to pay for a students transportation costs, and may be tiered due to low living costs out there compared to NY, but here you got families which raise their kids in poverty, high expenses, and sometimes can barely afford to give their kids money for lunch (and school lunch has now been made free for all), I morally feel that a student shouldn't have to pay in order to get to school, and or be barred from attending a school that can bring students enormous opportunities in their life. Every student who meets the requirements has a right to be legally entitled to a FREE Student MetroCard in order to meet their needs, of course we have those who don't use them, but I blame that on the DOE for failing to provide those students with educational instruction on these things, and if the DOE did invest time in educated these students each semester on the valuable use of their Student MetroCard, more and more students would be motivated to use them instead of Fare beating (which isn't always intentional), another thing that complicates the use is if a student looses their Student MetroCard, the school secretaries which are responsible to distribute them, are just nasty and anal about giving a new one to the students, and I wish the distribution would be handled directly by the for more accessibility, and simplicity. Other agencies mail student passes to their home, as opposed to NY, where you have no choice, but to beat the fare on the first few days of school because you receive your Student MetroCard once you're in school on the first few days.
  5. Usually the first few buses come in towards the end of the order, so those might come in soon.
  6. Well in order to add on to what I said earlier as well, there is no way for a depot to call a bus coming from elsewhere "your own", because this is after all the New York City Bus, it's not like the bus is going to be given off or sold to someone else, where by then the story would be different of course. In this case the analogy isn't too accurate since the bus still would remain under Jurisdiction, just different division; I'd love to clarify something here which many usually have a misconception on... Depot's don't "own" buses or have exclusive rights to them, these are simply different depots across the city with assigned buses operating under one entity, and of course equipment, mileage, age, and practices may vary from depot to depot in either positive or negative ways, but this doesn't give the proper Justification of having a thought process where buses are its one separate entity just because its at Gun Hill or Yukon, this is a matter of the fleet being distributed based on metrics, mileage, age, need, and other logistics we probably don't even know of; Of course the Next Gens are leaving the island, and Yukon isn't too stellar on their maintenance, but trying to opinion-ate yourself on how you feel things should be driven based on factors that the DOB probably doesn't give 2 flying f**ks about, most likely isn't going to cut it... The most we can do is bring up these issues to the and or elected officials for a change in prevailing culture, but in the meanwhile all we can do is breathe and wait to see what happens afterwards.
  7. But then you end up with 56 C40LF's with nowhere to go... Plus those C40LF's are most likely in maintenance rotation, which is probably DOB's fault for not ensuring that spares were provided when they were originally being ordered.
  8. Maintenance is essential, regardless of a bus's day's being numbered... That is no excuse to as how these Next Gens are in bad shape. Maintenance is vital in order to maintain a bus in state of good repair, and yes you might have mini Gun Hill's rolling around the system, but a bus leaving is no excuse to just dump it, because if any delay happens with an incoming order, or any unexpected plans that could keep them there longer than projected would basically be a living hell if buses stopped being maintained.
  9. Yeah... Yukon's Next Gen Hybrids that are moving to Manhattan and Brooklyn right now are being transferred out with the OMNY readers too...
  10. They've made massive cuts on the Bx36, and now the buses are even more overcrowded than what the 40 Footers were, some days its worse with sometimes 3-4 consecutive buses passing by that are overcrowded.
  11. Well, answer #1 is politics. Answer #2 is that not all these families with kids are in a sustainable economic environment to incur the costs of student transportation, of course in other places where there is more economic wealth and less expenses in other things it is much easier, but giving all students half-fare Metrocards would be an insane fight, I recall a couple of years ago when wanted to eliminate the Student Metrocard program and have them pay the full fare, all hell broke loose. Plus I don't find nothing wrong with students using public transit, in reality if you think about it there is more flexibility, for example if one day you need to stay after-school for something its much easier, yellow bus transportation would complicate that since there is no pick up flexibility and everything on yellow bus transportation is on a permanently set schedule, another factor that comes into play is convenience, as opposed to riding the yellow bus and spending 2 hours going around the city picking up kids, you can probably wake up a little later and have a shorter commute to school, and it all circles back to flexibility at the end of the day.
  12. Yeah the refresh rates, and intervals most definitely need to be revised and re-adjusted. This issue is completely persistent, and hopefully there is pro activity in fixing these screens, because Vianova's are usually very reliable, I don't know why Clever Devices lags behind on this.
  13. ...and then the spends millions of dollars every year trying to figure out why people take a f**king Uber, even a person under the poverty line would sacrifice $15 or $20 if they saw that their wait time in the middle of the PM rush was 15-20 minutes...
  14. Well in reality, lets say that even though does its shenanigans, they are far more reliable than nice in any category.
  15. Holy crap, how in hell is that even- I don't know what to honestly say anymore. This is just unbelievable, how do they find it okay to SIGNIFICANTLY decrease service on the Bx36 when its one of the most busiest and over-packed routes in the Bronx. I also can't believe that they quietly decided to reduce service from the Bx39. What has been done here is complete procrastination and a low class job by management. Someone needs to go to the Board Meeting this upcoming week and call the out on this, because it is just completely unbelievable how they can get away with massively reducing Bus service in the guise of "Improvement" when its all about Service cuts to cover their f**king asses.
  16. @Flatbush SBS DueceCarrying the topic over here. Yes those Clever Devices don't have a good functionality rate, but try reporting it with Supervision at your depot and see what they can do about it.
  17. For the screens, its not a rush issue, its the way that the Clever Devices are timed compared to the Vianova's which announce the stops at a proper and consistent pace. Same issue is encountered with the Clever Devices on the XN40's.
  18. Looks like they'll go with the SBS Scheme, if you look closely at the door, you can see the scheme under and to some extent the lines on the current local wrap.
  19. Looks like the guy at the end hasn't had some action in a while, like for real that attitude tho.
  20. Well shall I remind you that in the United States of America there is something called The Constitution, and in that sacred Constitution that we follow up to this day bears our lovely and most powerful First Amendment which stands for the Freedom of Speech, Religion, and Expression. The reporter does not belong in jail, neither do the Transit executives, the bus has ran past its expected lifespan, and you're lucky its been out for 23 years, everything comes to an end, so if you don't like it... well it happened anyway; life isn't fair. These executives and the Department of Buses made a decision, and have followed through their decision to retire them in May, every bus including these brand new 2019 models will reach their time in 12-20 years be retired in the same fashion that these RTS's were.
  21. Props to you, I will be tuning into CBS just right now to check how the story turns out.
