  1. I've also noticed the upgraded lighting. You can see it very clearly even when your train whizzes by another. For the most part though, I'm not expecting the 46's to change much between now and retirement
  2. Unless those trains can do a cross-country sprint to the city from Nebraska in the span of a few hours, yeah not happening lol. Apparently from the looks of this TFL Car vid, one of the R211S models is present in the shot. So maybe they'll have it out in another few months? I'm not sure
  3. Point taken. This is how we get people to stop subway surfing also.
  4. 142A's had some kinks, and of course the redbird fans were cheering on when those trains broke down. But the 143s basically had no issues. New fleets bring trouble with them more often than not, R46/68/179 were all disastrous at the start, but none got scrapped like ppl was fearing.
  5. Completely random thought, but I find it interesting that the R44/R46's have the city and state seals on their interior. It's so subtle but it's such a cool addition that never made it to any other NYC car class. Also makes sense since the city and state are effectively the heads of the system.
  6. Knew it. believe the governor is upstate right now in Seneca Falls, especially with yesterday being International Women's day. The first run of the 211s is going to be a serious thing, so they probably still have to get that stuff worked out
  7. Well, considering the 211s probably won't look nice for long, it's safe to say that they (like the rest of us) will be taxed to hell 😛
  8. Also, what actually is the chance that Hochul is in attendance tomorrow? That seems nigh impossible to me. (referring to this comment)
  9. I will say the 179's on the and are cleaner than they looked in 2021. Some units are still nasty time to time but on the whole it is better. I believe they get cleaned at 207 street yard. --- Now, if I'm understanding this week's service changes correctly: 1.Downtown trains will run via line along 6th Avenue, uptown trains unaffected, through Feb 27th the rest are from Tuesday to Friday 2. trains run to chambers street 3.Downtown trains will run express from 145 St down to Canal Street, uptown trains local (unaffected) 4.Inversely, Downtown trains will run local from 145 St down to 59 St, uptown trains express (unaffected)
  10. Also not surprising that SIR is free unless you exit at St George or Tompkinsville. Funnily enough, they had to make Tompkinsville a paid entry/exit after ferry riders simply walked 10 mins to that stop to avoid the fare, lol.
  11. That is a question that only Harry might be able to answer. I know a lot of these forum sites are built in a way that do not make the process straightforward. An alternative would just be logging off
  12. And I guess you're right, coverage just for the sake of coverage isn't exactly a valid reason to keep around lines that aren't used. The Rockaway 's existence isn't just based on coverage though. Yeah ridership is relatively (and this is when comparing it to other lines in the city) small here but it is established and existent, this isn't like killing off a largely unused shuttle route that goes to nowhere... Without sounding like wallyhorse (who downright defends the casino with his chest), you're right that a lot of casinogoers park, but having the train around though certainly doesn't hurt the area either... I guess I flat out disagree with your view of how the Fulton line should be, and it doesn't seem like we're gonna change that. I think linking the subway to rockaway was the right idea, it is what it is 🤷
  13. How did I sleep on this discussion? I've never heard such a hostile reaction to buying out the LIRR trackage over Jamaica Bay, and running subway service to the Rockaway's. I mean, none of this is new to me, I've heard proposals where people wanted to tear apart the subway trackage and turn Rockaway service into LRT - but somehow TMC's take on this is, feels a lot more insulting to those who actually use the and in the Rockaway's. All I'm going to say is this, if you stopped running the to Rockaway (cut it, and extend the Far Rockaway LIRR to Rockaway Park Beach 116th), you are going to have very negative impacts on current commuting patterns, which will adversely affect people without a car in this city. TMC is not wrong in that getting rid of the Rockaway increases capacity for the main Fulton street corridor, but fails to consider how this greatly comes at a cost for those riders who already use the present service. And no, it isn't like it's a "minute" amount... Airport riders, Rockaway/Howard Beach passengers and casino passengers all benefit from the current routing. Getting rid of it will demand some kind of replacement, so optimizing the lefferts branch should not come at the cost of tossing rockaway riders under the bus.
  14. As for the rest of GCM, wow. It really is an amazing station, not merely with its newness, but also scale. You feel so tiny looking down the platforms, it's a wild feeling. Honestly, it feels like a bigger subway station (like 2nd Av) as opposed to a LIRR stop.
  15. A month? How about a day... I might have seen some homeless people when I was walking into the station today. The stop is so big that I honestly didn't minded them, but I could definitely see that getting out of hand down the line when more of them tell each other.
  16. Yeah and ending the at 145th (likely on the lower level) would be more of annoyance than an actual cut
  17. Another political stunt if you ask me. I want to be optimistic like I was with ESI, but it feels far too much like "we refreshed X amount of stations in X amount of time" kinda nonsense.
  18. Anything on this earth tops that first R32 run, at least the cops wasn't playing on yesterdays run. I'm just glad to see the redbirds again, cameras and furries aside (lol) it does take you back to the 90s.
  19. People really gotta learn when to put the camera down. Especially when everyone is taking and sharing a pic of the same damn train, that's gonna be running for another three sundays after this rainy one. Lol at your use of "beautiful", yeah... If your pic is soo "beautiful" that u can cuss out others over it, then I wanna see all the other passengers toss their cameras out the window, since clearly they can't take photos as good as you. Attention seekers, Gimme a break
  20. Yeah, trusting the with technology... not a good idea lol. I'll say that even if the cameras all worked 100%, I still wouldn't see it as a huge deterrent to crime in the system. A lot of the nonsense you end up seeing on the system gets videoed by people's phones anyway. A lot of crimes are a different beast entirely. I hate to say it, but they will be getting a lot of "SHOWTIME" footage from these cameras... I also don't see this making any impact on Hochul's performance in November, not that she needs any (given the kinda candidate Zeldin is).
  21. https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-hochul-announces-mta-install-security-cameras-every-new-york-city-subway-car Not a fan of the idea personally, any thoughts?
  22. Including cartoons and sitcoms: Spongebob Family Guy The Simpsons (all of the above being the earlier seasons) Futurama Ed, Edd n Eddy Courage the Cowardly Dog Tom and Jerry The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Invader Zim OG Powerpuff Girls King of The Hill Ducktales As for the modern stuff (cuz I'm not a 90's kid) Adventure Time Regular Show Amazing World of Gumball Gravity Falls Phineas and Ferb Big City Greens Amphibia
  23. I truly think this (Queensway) was the first idea presented to him on the table. Whatever administration (or interests) Adams is working with probably didn't want him to get anywhere near Queenslink. It's much easier to sign off on a new public park compared to restoring the old line, so this was probably gonna happen regardless of who was in charge. So long as the Queensway people say their plan will improve the areas transportation, you can forget about any budgeting for a ROW. They will have their way.
  24. Man, that is really unfortunate. I was shocked to hear that they were only letting paid ticketholders ride the 32s. Sucks even more to hear that they initally wanted everyone to ride it. I definitely noticed vandal activity today, wasn't destructive thankfully but was mostly stupid, some idiot was firing the horns on an R46 train leaving Broad Channel. In some way, the R32 retirement runs (a few months ago) definitely was a wake up call to Transit about how to run these kinds of events. Not once today did I (general public) feel like I could walk onto an Arnine or 32. They know vandals fester off those oppertunities and simply cannot take chances on it. It's a shame but ah well...
