I understand that many of you are looking to maximize benefit by de-interlining certain areas, but you have to really consider what transferring entails and why certain lines go where they do. In the Bronx, it seems rather burdensome to run the to Dyre and have it run express on WPR when the switches are not configured well for either of those things. However, the MTA does it anyways. Why? Most Dyre riders are commuting to Manhattan in the Lexington area and thus get express service and a one-seat ride. On the other hand, WPR has more intra-boro commuters so the serves them fine. If you decide to suddenly run the in it's place and send the to Woodlawn to eliminate the junction, you're subjecting many riders to a stair climb and a wait for a sardine packed Jerome train. In addition, you're making life harder for Harlem and the UWS too as their emptier trains are now packed with riders. Want to fix this with the greatest benefit to all? Give Concourse some TLC and rebuild the 180th-Dyre junction. Keep in mind that in the end, making riders deal with a cross-platform transfer as a result of deinterlining is a lot different than making them climb up a flight of stairs for an already-crowded train.
