  1. Any idea as to when this service change might take effect?
  2. Is this a pilot or is it permanent? Also, any idea as to when this will take effect?
  3. I understand that many of you are looking to maximize benefit by de-interlining certain areas, but you have to really consider what transferring entails and why certain lines go where they do. In the Bronx, it seems rather burdensome to run the to Dyre and have it run express on WPR when the switches are not configured well for either of those things. However, the MTA does it anyways. Why? Most Dyre riders are commuting to Manhattan in the Lexington area and thus get express service and a one-seat ride. On the other hand, WPR has more intra-boro commuters so the serves them fine. If you decide to suddenly run the in it's place and send the to Woodlawn to eliminate the junction, you're subjecting many riders to a stair climb and a wait for a sardine packed Jerome train. In addition, you're making life harder for Harlem and the UWS too as their emptier trains are now packed with riders. Want to fix this with the greatest benefit to all? Give Concourse some TLC and rebuild the 180th-Dyre junction. Keep in mind that in the end, making riders deal with a cross-platform transfer as a result of deinterlining is a lot different than making them climb up a flight of stairs for an already-crowded train.
  4. Do you know the car numbers for the last train in service?
  5. Has 110th Street been reopened or are trains skipping it?
  6. I’d expect some 2010-esque cuts- the subway will take a hit but it’ll probably be the buses that really suffer.
  7. Say goodbye to phase 2 of SAS and ESA for 5 more years... looks as if the biggest capital project that will get done at this point will be the Nostrand Avenue exit re-openings...
  8. Can someone update me on the current car assignments by line?
  9. Was anyone riding Broadway around the time of the broken rail today? Did service operate any bit smoother with a merge at 57 vs 34.
  10. Hey mods can we have a post purge here to clean up the spamming on the thread? Thank you. @Deucey @Lance
  11. Which cars were the absolute worst to work on (including now-retired ones)?
  12. IIRC the reason for that is timers which start around 96th. One thing that is nice about the R179s is that they accelerate faster.
  13. Where can you see the retired R42s and R32s now? Are they sitting idle at 207? If so, are they at the scrap area (by 215th) or are they at where the museum trains are layed up (by 207th).
  14. I don’t really see why we need an extension of the past 95th... the distance is walkable and there is plenty of storage along the already if it is sent to Astoria- Astoria middle, 86th relay, Whitehall, city hall lower, etc.
  15. You can't make out the numbers here, but this link from google maps shows a single SIR car and a 4 car set of R44s sitting at CI yard.
  16. Which station is better to see the retired cars awaiting scrapping; 207th or 215th?
  17. Was there ever a plan to extend the further north to recapture the in the Bronx?
  18. Unlike the other dead cars, these were never used for work service or something similar so it seems odd to me that there are just 4 R44s left sitting there as if they forgot to scrap them.
  19. Any reason why they are still there? I know those IRT cars were used for offices in yards up until about 5 years ago, but why are four random cars just sitting at CI? Were they slated for preservation at some point? Are their parts cannibalized for SIR cars?
