  1. Next time to protect your identity never give your list number, you never know who's being a creep. In other news you should be fine just be on top of stuff don't let forget about you while being respectful obviously about it. Considering they already have a new exam that's promotional only for conductors....
  2. Whats your list number? And you can always call 180, depending on what number they're on.
  3. People are being called back to redo their pre employment within the 30 day mark now instead of it being 90 days.
  4. If it's sealed you don't have to mention it, it mentions this on the packet we fill out.
  5. It's not even an interview... Step 1) take exam pass with a good score get called for the drug test pee in a cup, takes 2 to 3 days for results to come back. Step 2) medical; they want to make sure you're healthy enough to do the job safely. EKG, vision, weight and height, bmi, hearing, color blind test, and making sure you don't have sleep apnea. You'll answer questions on a computer and paper. Step 3) you're qualified hooray! Fingerprints get taken and sit back outside, a person will then call you into a room and hand you the rules and regulations book, go over the hourly pay, and hand you a paper to order your boots and where and what time to report for the first day of class. Then get sworn in and now you're part of NYCT, all you gotta do now is get through 9 months of training if you're in the B division or 6 months of training if you're in the A division. In summary this isn't an interview style hiring process, but a very long process and of course repetitive but in the end it'll all pay off.
  6. The ultimate test of patience, I remember when I went for PE and medical that people were sleeping and the security guard will wake people up saying they're looking to see if people fall asleep easily for sleep apnea
  7. Good luck you got this I was the nervous one during praticals and I made it you got this!!!! Study and go over the steps over and over until you do it in your sleep.
  8. The subject of the email says "Conditional Offer - NYCT Train Operator"
  9. You can't have less than half of your sick time left in the bank. We get 12 sick days a year, lets say you've been here 3 years that would amount to 36 sick days you should have. As long as you don't have less than half aka less than 18 days then you're good, if you have anything below 18 is when they can mess with you when or if you take a promotional exam.
  10. They legit do, you can live in the bronx and they'll have you start and clear at far rockaway or anywhere else that isn't close to your house. The way that they talk to people can make you feel very small. Knowing you can't say anything back to them because they'll screw you over more makes you mentally exhausted.
  11. So true all the senior people say they all went through it and it gets better with time. I agree with you because the way the screw office screws people isn't healthy for ones mental state. And if you try to book off sick with a crap schedule they always say they have more jobs than you have sick days. I heard from the screw offices own mouth that they do things as a courtesy and that they don't have to do anything for you (us)...
  12. @Nique1112 all and every ticket your car has, has to be paid off before being hired. I'd say pay them off before showing up just to get them out the way.
  13. 1) there really isnt an average time depends on luck right after the pick like a couple of weeks after the bid sheets come out bid on anything that works for you, it's like the lotto you never know until you try. 2) senority it depends on how many people retired, or got promoted. You can easily pick within a year and a half or later or sooner it really depends. I've been out since last year octoberish and I'm picking this December. So it depends on the luck of the draw tbh. 3) I'd prefer either or you get your set days off and your preferred tour. Just my 2 cents. 4) sometimes you can get the scraps that the senior guys don't want, and there's not only 3 to 4 trips left, people pick based on what works for them. Sometimes the job can pick you which means you get no say on what job you get.
  14. Ask a superintendent near the car desk at the barn, I had my luck without any problem at ccy.
  15. You can try giving them a call tomorrow and get/seek clarification from 180 Livingston street. I did that when going in for train operator from conductor last year... doesn't hurt to seek clarification. If you don't have the numbers let me know and I hook you up with phone numbers for 180 Livingston.
  16. You can either pick the division which would be based on your senority, if enough people picked the division you wanted then you'll be forced into the other division. And lastly you might not have a choice and you'll be thrown into whatever division they need you in. My whole class got tossed into the B we had no say in the matter.
  17. I warned you guys/ladies that this would happen, good luck to those who attracted the superintendent's attention
  18. Yeah TSSs read this forum btw peeps just an FYI and if a school car TSS, superintendent or the director gets a wind of this being spread around they're going to change the whole exam completely. It happened before someone was passing around stuff and a TSS caught wind and the whole exam was changed. Let's just say that people failed because they thought they were good with the stuff being passed around. Just food for thought
  19. Yeah you can bring a bag with you, if you plan on keeping that bag make sure it has detachable straps that can't be tucked or put away.
  20. It goes by fast trust me, been here since 2019 and it's already 3 years, time flies by faster than you know.
