  1. Congratulations, the gentleman have stated everything required in the comments above(heavy duty back pack, and black boots with 6inch 90 degree heel) in terms of advice: there have been many failures the past 3-4 assistant conductor classes, that’s not because the intensity of the program has suddenly changed and gotten harder but because I believe people simply aren’t putting in the time to go over the knowledge them selves, many simply weren’t even doing the required homework’s they were given(that’s also grounds for dismissal), too afraid to ask for clarification from the instructor if they didn’t understand the material, suffered from the anxiety of being fired if they failed, were not the best test takers instead of studying they wanted to be spoon fed the answers for the exams. Guess , what the answers are in black and white in the operating rules, read that shit, if you still don’t get it read it again and ask for extra help in class. I would say when you are given the operating rules manual(which is day one of class, study everything you went over in class that day especially what you felt you needed to highlight thru out the day, and just read the prescribed lesson for the next day to set your self up for success.) all it takes is 1-2 hours a day, every day. Yes, it’s a commitment, but you will beat yourself up everyday if you fail out. If you do that you will pass, two more things that’s will really help you, start a study group with your classmates to discuss the homework daily, lastly from day one on familiarize yourself with rule 11 and all aspects and indications in that rule. No one is gate keeping, all the information in that massive operating manual will be on the exam, nothing more nothing less. Again, good luck this is an amazing career. You absolutely have the ability and all tools needed to pass and thrive at Metro North.
  2. That’s wild, about time. I know the LE exam is all online now.
  3. don’t waste your time, the good thing is that’s he’s not in. The sad part is he keeps trying and the companies so desperate maybe this guy makes it on his 10th interview attempt.
  4. Whoa, This doesn’t sound correct at all. Unless the recruiting team is officially all moved over. To confirm you were called by Metro North Rail Road to take the MNR Assistant conductor exam at 2 Broadway?! not at 525 Broadway north white plains or 460 Lexington Ave very interesting. well, good luck. Read this forum, brush up on adding and subtracting with decimals, study your signals and definitions and you should be just fine. At this time they are hiring assistant conductor classes every two months. The next one is slated for August. They treat you much better at MNR vs Transit and the pay and benefits are definitely better as well.
  5. It’s absolutely a better job, I don’t really want to discuss in detail the pay rate(which should be posted on the initial job app), pension, and other benefits MNRR offers vs transit, just know they are all better. Many have left transit (which is a great job in its own right) for greener pastures at MNR and LIRR, I do not know of a single person who has or would go to transit from the Railroad. Plenty of B/Os and T/OS are being hired into the conductor and engineer program at MNR Please ask any engineer, conductor in person and let them know you are from transit and I’m sure they’ll gladly share the information. I am sure it sucks starting all over on the seniority roster but at least your pension time comes over.
  6. You failed the interview, there are no games or funny way they pick there candidates, or “game to play”. You failed, be a man about it think how you could improve your self, and possibly how you can become a better candidate to pass IF there is a next time. Or maybe this craft simply isn’t for you. You’ve asked this same question a million and one times, in hundreds of threads on this forum. Even in ones that have nothing to do with the title your applying for. This isn’t even the first time your being called out for it, you previously had an interaction where you became defensive towards another applicant and tried to see if he was an mta employee so you could try to get him in trouble. so I ask you, If the hr lady explained that to could re-apply 1 year after you failed out ,why would it change now? or how would a fellow applicant know better? lastly, please take some time to read thru this forum before asking a question, it’s especially annoying, and lazy if the same exact question has been asked and answered in great detail some times only 1 page before your new post.
  7. Take which ever hires you, from your post history it seems you are trying for them all. so here’s to you getting hired bud.
  8. Hey quick question for the exam did you have to know the definitions and signals verbatim or was just general knowledge ok?
  9. I spoke to Pre Employment and they are in the 550 range from the 720 who passed the 8611 exam. They need to process and hire/disqualify all those remaining people first before they even start the process on our exam. and we don’t even have list numbers, the lady from pre employment said to expect at least a year or so before we hear something from them. so I guess it’s best to just forget about the exam for now.
  10. Attended what I was told was the first SPA exam, for this exam it was held on Dec 21st at 8 am, they said they would be holding additional spa exams based on scores for next few months and then we could expect the exams being released in 6 months to a year from then.
  11. Never got the call with LIRR, but I’m a Assistant Conductor with MNRR since October now.
  12. I’ve heard run times, start and end locations all vary depending on shift, line or route. I know it’s a 40 hour work week but how many days do conductors work? is it 3 days? 4 days? 5 day? thanks in advance
  13. Yes, I was told that I’m just waiting approval. I have no negative factors in my background or criminal history, and I was already informed I passed the toxicology and medical. guess I’m just overthinking it since I’ve completed the process in July. but I keep seeing the position get posted online every two weeks.
  14. Any clue what it means if the keep posting for the position online? I’ve completed my medical and criminal background check as of July, but I’m still waiting on hire date. Is it possible they don’t hire you after the whole process?
  15. Just be patient, no way to tell. I tested out for two different exams, I was called for an interview for one in 1 weeks time, and for the other position it took 3 months. next is the interview, followed by a physical ability test, and finally a medical and criminal background check. My current process stated in January. Hopefully I get hired soon.
  16. Took a week and when I spoke to recruiter she said I was cleared but now waiting for a class to start,
  17. Not sure if it’s the same at all but I had one for Third Railman and it consisted of walking the tracks, picking up some box and going up and down stairs. really simple don’t sweat it at all.
  18. Looks like I got 2 wrong giving me a 95% based on the current proposed Answer key. web.mta.info/nyct/hr/proposed_answerkey.htm
