  1. Depends on where track work is happening. Yesterday, we sat at Dongan Hills for a good 10 minutes to wait for the Northbound Train to clear the track since single tracking was in effect between Grant City and Great Kills.
  2. Why doesn’t the shift the departure times of the during the weekend when the train is single tracking? The southbound train is gonna be delayed 10-15 minutes due to it waiting for the northbound train to pass so just say that the train will leave 10-15 minutes later instead of sitting at a station for 10-15 minutes. They shift the times for weekday trains so it doesn’t make any sense to me.
  3. R44 388 on the got its rollsign replaced by a Staten Island Railway logo (similar to the ones you see on the side of the train). I have a feeling that’s probably going to happen to the rest of the fleet since half the cars have missing rollsigns and it wouldn’t make sense to replace them given that they will be retiring soon.
  4. Seems like it’s down for the second day in the row.
  5. Isn’t the plan for the r211s to replace all of the r46s? They might move to other lines while the other r46s are getting retired due to mileage purposes but after that the r46s are gone.
  6. Guess they don’t want to be constantly watched by supervision. maybe have a way to disable the cameras in the cabs that the t/o and c/r have so that they have their privacy and keep the unused ones on to prevent any subway conquestors from breaking In.
  7. That also forces people coming in from Jamaica and Eastern Queens via the buses to sit though the local stops, so I agree that that’s the best idea. I’m also assuming that’s why the runs express overnight instead of local as well. Mabye when CBTC is complete in the system, trains can run closer together in order to bring in more frequent service.
  8. Just wondering, if the QBL is supposed to be one of the busiest corridors in the system, especially for the with very frequent weekday service, why do all the trains that serve the QBL on the weekends and trains run on the minimum 5 tph frequency on the weekends instead of being more frequent? Do most people that use the QBL drive on the weekends? It’s like comparable to running the and every 3-5 minutes on the weekdays but running them every 10-12 minutes on the weekends. Is demand really that low for the QBL?
  9. Looking on BusTime for the L92 bus and it’s literally a renumbered M14A. All of the stops and route are the same as the M14A. Only difference is that it’s free.
  10. I see alot of important stops skipped. Also, there's no need for having an express train cause that's just an train. Also, where would you be getting the resources for these express/super express trains? Hopefully by not cutting regular service in half. If anything maybe a few "super express" trains on some sections during peak hours might work. Like a handful of trains only making stops at Pelham Bay Park, Parkchester, Hunts Point Ave, and 3 Ave-138 St in the Bronx in the peak direction. or extending the express portion of the to King's Highway or to Neptune Ave.
  11. Think Missabassie is talking about the Brooklyn Bus Redesign, all of the current BM routes (BM1-5) would run only peak and evenings only (towards Manhattan 5-11am and from Manhattan 3-9pm for most routes) with no weekend service.
  12. I immediately thought of the train when you said this lol.
  13. The S40/90 duplicates the S44/94 from the ferry to Richmond Terrace/Lafayette Ave. The S44/94 also duplicates the S59 from the Port Richmond area to the Staten Island Mall. The S61/91 duplicates the S62/92 from the ferry to Victory/Bradley. But given how the didn’t follow that guideline for the Q4 who knows? The S53 would’ve been your best bet given that it doesn’t really duplicate any routes plus is one of the highest ridership routes in the borough.
  14. The should send a reminder that transfers are still free between the subway and buses so if you’re going to/from the subway no matter what bus you board, it will still be the same fare. Only thing that changes is how many times you need to swipe/dip/tap your card.
  15. The S46/96 also does this with the S44/94 being a block or two away form the route for a good part of the eastern portion, between Morningstar Road and Bard Ave. Seems like the choose feeder routes since most riders would already be transferring to the subway/another bus route so the amount of money lost on fares isn’t as much. The Bx18A/B acts as a feeder to the , the Q4 acts as a feeder to the and the S46/96 acts as a feeder to the Staten Island Ferry which connects to several subway and bus lines in lower Manhattan. When it comes to the Q4 I can see people passing up the Q5/84/85 between Jamaica Center and Linden Blvd and crowding on to Q4 buses, negatively affecting people needing to take the Q4 to destinations east of Merrick/Linden after getting off the train.
  16. That other station is Richmond Valley.
  17. Correct me if I’m wrong, 5357 - West Farms to MJQ (on the M34a as of right now)
  18. Hopefully, all the buses on the S79 have bike racks when that happens. Nowadays the S53/93 which are supposed to have bike racks show up with no bike rack like half the time with the bike rack-equipped buses showing up on other routes.
  19. Do you know if they are planing to put bike racks on the S79?
  20. I'm wondering, how would nostalgia trains work with CBTC signaling given that the old signals are ripped out? I get that garbage/work trains run at night but that's when the is running at a high headway.
  21. Many SI express routes run out of multiple depots. The SIM3/33c/35 run out of both Castleton and Meredith. And a lot of the Hylan Routes run out of Yukon, Castleton and Charleston. Also, any depot can cover for any SI route so you’ll often see buses from different depots filling in for routes that aren’t normally run by that depot.
  22. On 2775 rn and notice that the seats are entirely different from the other x3-45 express bus seats. They are smaller and have a lot more legroom imo. Was there a trial for different seats?
