  1. The post office is pseudo federal I am not sure you can trade ? But yeah Go for something bigger and better. You say full time assuming you're a regular and can bid. so depending on your craft/bid, when its time for MTA stuff you can deal with it without interfering with PO TIME. Are you at the station or plant?
  2. Yeah they didnt send it. Luckily when I went in for the exam, I saw what the application looked like. Its the same for the cleaning position. So they told me to email it today.
  3. Yeah i double checked i got nothing. I already told them i will be attending. and i see nothing on jobvite. yeah i only got the study guide. *shrug
  4. I find this part confusing. But I think you have to get your HS diploma evaluated by a company that does that stuff. It only applies to immigrants who has a HS diploma outside the US. They did that shit with the station agent couple years back and the recent one. I was DQ'ed because I didn't get my HS diploma evaluated. It sucks. However I have a US college degree but it doesnt matter they still want immigrants HS certificate or diploma evaluated. It cost like $115.00. All these steps. Geesh
  5. Welp, I went for the OA and MTA test and totally overlooked that they require CDL permits or CDL licence to do the exams now.
  6. The paperwork is a fillable PDF. Did you save it on your PC? Do you have Adobe PdF? Every time you go to Livingston you should always carry your own documents - paperwork and ID's. TYPE SAVE PRINT.
  7. Damn everybody trying to leave the Post Office. lol. The MTA hiring processing is really long and tedious. Great money and benefits but we cant bullshit like how we can at the Post Office. lol
  8. If you already have the licence with the passenger and air brakes you Gucci. One less extra step in the training
  9. it dont matter really. Position Filled and you never heard anything, that means they went with another candidate. I dont think you can even withdraw at that point.
  10. I am not sure. Are you ugly? Are your eyes far apart? Their process of elimination is rather haphazard. What exactly is the method to their madness? My theory is that they just don't want certain people in (not white, not male. not able-body) sure a sprinkle of the others may get through but...shrugs.
  11. That sucks. Let those emotions run through you If youre not old and rickety 5yrs will pass by. If you still interested by then at least you know what to expect.
  12. What does this even? Arent they in the business of providing a service? Workers aka human beings get old, tired, disabled, sick, injured etc.
  13. Oh and one more thing. If you have money and time maybe get your CDL - blah blah I know MTA will train but at least you eliminate one major step. Cuz if you go all the way to the 3rd day and say pass on the 3rd day, i think you only get one chance to pass with the DMV road test. I think. But I know if you have your CDL and pass the MTA road test you go straight into line training plus get to ride the other buses. damn I wish I had the contacts of my classmates. I wonder how theyre doing.
  14. Hey Just be patient. I know youre impatient and excited as you should be. I was there. You get excited for health benefits, increase pay, future trips to other parts of the world. Driving a bus esp a commercial MTA bus for the first time could be intimidating. Plus those trainers already been in the game years and are far removed from that first feeling of excitement, hope etc. Theyre going to lean in on being an a**hole/verbal abuse and that depends on the trainer you get. If you or anyone fail it may not be that you cant drive the bus. A lot of factors. In my case I failed the first time the instructor felt like i wasn't ready to drive a bus, the second failure was over steer and had to reverse in an intersection, 3rd failure i was unfamiliar with the roads in the bronx/the sun was being a hater. I wasnt God's favourite during that time. It really was an emotionally taxing exp but it was fun and my class was good and my first instructor he was . The failure plus you cant try again for BO for 5 years is some'n brutal. But hennywho good luck
  15. Oh Welp. Look at me practising self preservation. Is this the way the MNR/LIRR keep certain demographics out or keep it at minimum. 🤔🤔 plus the history of licensure in the US. hmm ok, I guess. Companies acting like they always gonna have a swath of people to play the ass with. 😗
  16. there's no specific book at least not that i know of. What theyre testing for is on the NOE pdf for this new exam.
  17. Ill pass on this then. Thats wasting people's time, energy and money.
  18. I got the email yesterday I am not sure i'll go. if it is from what i remember 4 yrs ago when they let you take some random test to decide if they'll let you move forward or not. My heart cant take another disappointment.
  19. Nope no good news. I almost had it both times. It was difficult, challenging, but it was nothing I could not do. It was the best and worst of times all at the same time. I had the same people from orientation in my class except for one guy. My class was cool, we helped each other, boosted each others spirits, one of the guys gave me a ride to downtown Brooklyn everyday, Another gave me cash to buy food from a store that only accepted cash. We meshed well as a group. I wish them guys the best. Now onto the training itself. I am glad those who passed and move on to the next stage do well. A lot of people are knowledgeable but don't have that teachable spirit. There were a few mentions of some of the instructors are tough. It tinkers on verbal abuse. There is no uniformity in teaching methods, imparting information to students. The instructor i had the first week was cool, knowledgeable, fun, charismatic person, i liked listening to him - like an old head telling stories. Told you when you wrong and definitely let you know when you did good. It went downhill for me when we had to get to know a new instructor, me reversing in an intersection - lex and 126th. it was a limp dick moment. I was up sh*ts creek from then on. I had a bubble gum popping 'rican intstructor. After that they demonstrated how they would have made their turns. Today i miscalculated a light on white plains road and was over the white line. *sucks teeth*. Everything came together for me too late Yall were really helpful on this board. I appreciate that. To future BO's. Its a lot of information to take in. When you get to go in a class and you get your instructor, take all the information in, try not to ask your instructor too many questions especially stupid and unnecessary ones. They say no question is a dumb question. Thats a lie. Read the books. The big one and little one. Driver manual and the vehicle manual. For CLP's, you dont have to familiarize your self with airbrakes as yet. Focus on ALSAPS after you pass MTA road test. But do get to know your pre-trip (exterior of the bus). By day 3 you should know ALSAPS but the instructors arent going to press you on that. Arrive to your depot early and swipe in as soon as you arrive. Anyway thats all i can remember for now. I am going to process my emotions and try and come down from this anxiety thats still in my chest and head.
  20. So today was day 7. I failed. Onto day 9 I go. My initial instructor he was really good. Threw us in the Lion's Den real quick. He is knowledgeable. I enjoyed his teachings. I got an experience. Cant say I never drove a bus. So Monday came and we had to get a new trainer. We started off very late. Threw my day and really threw the week off. He was cool he knows more than me. I am a little perplexed as to what are the criteria in passing with the MTA road test. The second instructor I had said i made great improvements for the couple days i have been with him. Anyways my faults. Not slowing down when pedestrians are crossing, forward planning and proper lane change and more scanning of mirrors frequently. So downtown has some tight turns i pass through them rather smoothly and rather carefully, My turns were really good for someone who just start driving a bus. The student almost swiped a MTA bus granted the MTA park low right at the corner. He passed. The other student never yield to emergency vehicles, running yellow light. The other student gear was in reverse, the trolly brake had to be pulled a few times, lane changes, almost tearing off the side/tail end of the bus. Yesterday I was the only who had a lot of unsatisfactory. It sucks. But nah all of us had mixed results. I knew I wasn't going to do well. Really if all of us had a failed I could see why. But a student came really came dangerously close to hitting a bus but they passed. Cool story bruh. FOHWTB. I am not jealous or angry at the student who passed, that's their journey, no hater sh*t. I hope he does well. He was happy to be here.
  21. You only took one BO exam? I took so many of them and sometimes they transferred my score to another exam so that i didnt have to take it. Thank God I took that many. Hey but i was there were you are now - in terms of waiting. Sh*t, they called me for OA again in august did the drug test and haven't heard a bleep concerning medical. Currently I am in training for TA. Just be patient trust me, I know they prefer people with permit but if you could maybe get your cdl if you can afford it. I think that's one less hurdle. You wont do the dmv road test. If you get it, all you have to do is worry about passing with the MTA. For me, and this is just my opinion If i had the time and money I would have gotten my cdl a while back.
