  1. If you were to have another brown group train go to 96th, why not make it the ? For budget cuts, I'd say reduce service and reduce extra trains to 96th. Or take off 1 or 2 trips? (just off the top of my head)
  2. Thanks for the clarification. It's an interesting idea.
  3. Would the 6 Av 57th Street station close it the Broadway Line station? If you could make a map or a visual representation it would be a little clearer. On that note: If you are proposing the 63rd Line have express service under the East River, then then everything around the tunnels must be checked for structural stability. Also, with the addition of service at Lex/63, capacity is more evenly distributed throughout the system dispite the close proximity and reverse-branching of the Broadway and 6 Av Lines. I don't think that the demand would be there, let alone spending all that money. Please note that I am still unclear of your specific outline for the new trunk. Just my opinion.
  4. Another thing that could help is increasing speeds somewhat on the Williamsburg Bridge. Since an accident on the bridge some years ago, speeds on all above river crossings were decreased to increase safety. Adding on to your proposal, the MTA should install rubber pads below the rails (same as the new Myrtle Viaduct) if possible, replace the rails and inspect the subway structure itself for any improvements. The proposals shown will still be impacted by these slow zones so this should be included.
  5. I find this kinds of interesting. For years the has been the underdog of the subway system and this is on potential way to fix it and eliminate the transfer at Court Square. However, I don't see the demand for a link between the Rockaways (particularly Broad Channel) and Coney Island directly. Personally, I would just end it at Brighton Beach or Ocean Pkwy along with the seeing as it is currently not frequent enough to be considered at true express line including the fact that it does not run on weekends (which is a whole different issue.) Plus, it would have to be renamed like a rebirth of the or as they are close to in the alphabet.
  6. Also the commute time from Coney Island to Manhattan via Whitehall would be much longer than it already is considering the tight curves of the current line around Whitehall, City Hall, Cortlandt, Jay St, and DeKalb (saw this on the Random Thoughts thread on the most recent page. Thought I should bring it up here.)
  7. I like this proposal and never thought about displaying it through MyMaps. 1) What about the going via Third Av in the Bronx to the Fordham Metro-North Station? This will help with serving more areas and could be connected to Concourse Yard in case of an emergency or something (you never know with the MTA) 2) Definitely more money will have to be spent on upgrading the integrity of the tunnels considering their age and the new higher capacity lines, particularly along CPW. 3) Maybe one of the platforms at 138 St-Grand Concourse could be set back from the tracks so that the could go down the now 2 tracks in the center of the station and meet with the at 3 Av-149 St, as to not prohibit or delay trains at 138th. 4) The should exist and should stop at 9 Av, 62 St, Bay Pkwy, and Coney Island. Trains will run every 10 mins (6tph) but it will drop the to 14tph) Just my thoughts.
  8. To make the maps go to jpwright.net/subway . It's a "game" that allows you to plan your own Subway.
  9. This is my first post. Here is my proposal: an extension of the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) from 116 St in Manhattan to Fordham via the Bronx's Third Av. Stations would be at 3 Av-138 St (interchange with 6), 3 Av-149 St (interchange with 2,5), 163 St, 168 St, Claremont Pkwy, Tremont Av, 184 St, and Fordham (interchange with Metro-North). A potential future extension would be to Gun Hill Rd on the 2 and 5 via Webster Av with stops at Botanical Garden (Bedford Park Blvd), 204 St, and Gun Hill Rd. Please tell me what you think. Also if someone could tell me how to add the line symbols into posts it would be much appreciated. Still a noob.
