  1. As much as many people want to see the R32's riding the rails again, including myself, @Bill from Maspethis correct. Considering what is happening to Florida, California, and many other states in west and east of the U.S., we need to play it safe. The operators are already taking a risk even operating the R32 and we shouldn't be putting them at more risk than they are already at right now. As Bill said, we should "err on the side of caution for the sake of our T/O's".
  2. Nope. The risks are too high, considering what happened with states like Florida, California, etc. I'm going to play it safe.
  3. Seriously, the MTA needs a more durable barrier, and even if they cannot, the least they can do is install temporary security cameras at the chained areas.
  4. I like what the MTA did with the eastern part of Queens, especially the 73rd Avenue and Horace Harding Expressway corridors, but they definitely messed up every other part like the central/south/west Queens routes.
  5. So the 42nd Street shuttle is getting a massive makeover now. I wonder how the renovation will go. https://new.mta.info/42StShuttle
  6. It's finished, but of all ESI stations, these were the most disappointing because of the lack of actual ESI work.
  7. That's why I like the High Entry Exit Turnstiles better. Fare evaders can't jump or duck over them.
  8. The MTA didn't extend it. Platform extension wasn't included in ESI so the platform still only fits 4-5 cars.
  9. So how long will it be predicted that the MTA finishes the elevators at Bedford Avenue and 1st Avenue stations?
  10. Anyone wanna talk about the renovations at Bedford Avenue and 1st Avenue?
  11. So, the service changes mean that Flushing Avenue on the is going to get a double renovation: a normal renovation and an ESI renovation. So I'm guessing the one-month renovation for the Church Avenue-bound platform won't be that month if it's getting an ESI renovation a couple of years later.
  12. Maybe Gun Hill Road is getting both elevator installation and a regular station renovation, because Flushing Avenue and Winthrop Street are being renovated and they haven't been confirmed in receiving elevators.
  13. [STATION IMPROVEMENTS] Effective 12:01 AM Monday, Mar 4 until April 1 - Church Av-bound trains will skip Flushing Avenue [STATION REHABILITATION] Effective 5 AM Monday, Mar 11 until July 2019 - Flatbush Av-bound and trains will skip Winthrop Street [STATION REHABILITATION] Effective 10 PM Friday, Mar 1 until September 2019 - Dyre Av-bound trains will skip Gun Hill Road
  14. So... MTA is closing one platform each at Flushing Avenue , Winthrop Street , and Gun Hill Road http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/servNotices_G_train_SkippingFlushingAv.htm http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/servNotices_2_5_Trains_Skip_WinthropSt.htm http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/servNotices_5 Train_skipping_GunHillRd.htm
  15. Are the R42's headed to their final destination or being transferred to another line?
  16. Woodhaven Boulevard would be the easiest to renovate, since the IND built the station to probably be converted into an express station later on originally for the proposed Rockaway Beach Branch.
  17. Maybe a cross-platform walkway over the center tracks, similar to the 42nd Street Shuttle.
  18. Question: What is the MTA doing with the middle platform, according to this video by L Train Productions TM?
  19. Probably the plan to extend the to Springfield Boulevard via Hillside Avenue is also feasible
  20. I didn't think the HHE extension through so I appreciate the feedback. An extension via Jewel and 73rd is a great alternative to building a line to east Queens but that would also be difficult as that means that 73rd Avenue and Jewel Avenue have to be widened and the same with the sidewalk to fit entrances and tunnels.
  21. Has anyone mentioned a Horace Harding Expressway Line? If not, here's my idea for a Horace Harding Expressway Line to extend subway service through central and east Queens. This is pure fiction and obviously won't be built or planned by the MTA. In this plan, service would be brought back to run its original route from 2nd Avenue until Woodhaven Boulevard, the line will connect to a 3-track subway tunnel running under the Horace Harding Expressway to Little Neck Parkway. The will still be part of Sixth Avenue Line and the QBL, and future extentions and transfers will be referenced. Here are the stops: 2nd Avenue - Broadway-Lafayette Street - , transfer to West 4th Street-Washington Square - , transfer to 14th Street - , transfer to 23rd Street - 34th Street-Herald Square - , transfer to 42nd Street-Bryant Park - , transfer to [42nd] 47th-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center - Fifth Avenue-53rd Street - Lexington Avenue-53rd Street - , transfer to Court Square-23rd Street - , transfer to Queens Plaza - , transfer to 36th Street - Steinway Street - 46th Street - Northern Boulevard - 65th Street - Jackson Heights Roosevelt Avenue - , transfer to Elmhurst Avenue - Grand Avenue-Newtown - (R) Woodhaven Boulevard [converted to express station] - (E)(F)(M)(R) ====[2 tracks to be built after the stop and spur under the Horace Harding Expressway from the QBL]==== 108th Street [local] College Point Boulevard-Van Wyck Expressway [local] Main Street [express station; two island platforms with center track for rush hour peak express]\ Kissena Boulevard [express] 164th Street [local] Utopia Parkway [express] 188th Street [local] Francis Lewis Boulevard [local] Oceania Street [local] Springfield Boulevard [express] East Hampton Boulevard-Cross Island Parkway [local] Douglaston Parkway [local] Marathon Parkway [local] Little Neck Parkway [three-track terminal] Streets are based on convenient street intersections on the Horace Harding Expressway service road, express/local stations are determined by amount of available bus transfers. Also, this is built assuming budget can afford all this construction and that it can push toward completion quickly.
  22. Just regular station rehabilitation, the MTA is now accepting the "close the whole station" method because renovation will be faster, such as 111th Street on the .
  23. What's the estimated cost of renaming a station?
