Yeah we did all that after the examiner left! We we warned that the guy you had yesterday was a tricky bastard!

I almost passed that 8A exit too. So be mindful that as soon as u see that “ red” house get ready to exit. Only by the grace if God that I caught it. I crossed the zebra lines to make it. I thought he was going to fail me for it.

Didn't see you afterwards but congrats! The remaining two of us to Gleason are up Monday morning!

Let me know how it goes! I look forward to seeing you both on Tuesday!  Practice ur offset on the opposite side, incase you get the same Examiners that I had today. He also tries to get you out of your chair before the Air Break System check is completed and outside before u pre-trip the interior.

Congratulations....Where did day 7 take place? What streets and cross streets? Any tips you could give us? ( If you don't mind me asking and youre at liberty of answering.... BTW thank you in advance)

Day 7 is up to your Superintendent. There is no specific streets, but it’s not as hard as day 6. If you have passed 6, relax, you got this!

Congrats!! Offhand, was the route for Day 9 the same as in these posts (5399 & 5400) or did they change it?

BbSAL? BBS? Triple S-U? Can you please elaborate? They all sound very interesting...

From what I recall over 5 years ago, the instructor showed you everything on day one, they make you do it on Day 4, and, as in the last post, some instructors 'push' it on Day 7, other's don't.

Even for @Mr NewFlyer, when he told me about his experience from this past October out of the JFK Depot, the instructor gave him two chances on Days 6 and 7 to do it 100% to determine if the student was going to qualify or be sent to Days 8 & 9.

    BBSALS are

    Break Drum

    Break Linings

    Spring Mount

    Air Bag

    Leaf Springs

    Shock Absorbers

    BBS are

    Break Chamber

    Break Hose

    Slack Adjudters

    Triple S-U

    Steering Box

    Steering Rod

    Steering Linkage

    U Bolts

    D is

    Drive Shaft

u must know the whole under Carriage and what to look for for each part. Such as properly mounted, all hardware present and tight. Different things for different parts of the under carriage. Also must know engine parts, Hydraulic compartment & Coolant  Surge System. It sounds like a lot but Once u see it and study it’s easy.

    My road test is Friday

and I got Jackie Gleason Depot 👍🏻

I will be seeing you guys on Monday for equipment training! On a side note, I don't have to travel out too far now! So I'm very pleased!

Great news! Congratulations!! We’ll be Permit training Monday at Eastchester. Day 2. Hoping to get road tested later in the week. Study the pre trip! BbSAL, BBS, Triple S-U.  U can’t advance without passing that part of the road test. It’s a lot to know. See you soon 😊

I got sent to Grand Avenue. Im doing okay but still have some getting used to behind the wheel. Day 2 went pretty well considering some folks saying it's the hardest day. Got trolley braked twice on two tight corners. I like my instructor a lot. Really cool guy. Funny as hell.

I got it twice today too! Learned the hook turn today. Super easy.  I am not thrilled with my eval for the day but it definitely lets me know where I need to improve. I am super happy with Sup. Langston. He’s fantastic. Super knowledgeable and very cool. Easy to talk to him which is important.

I was called today to go in tomorrow for medical. They said to bring a "postal money order". Would the MTA accept any else for payment for the fingerprint???? Credit card or just a regular money order???

You can bring in a regular money order. I did and it was fine.

Ok... Just try to be there early so you can find parking and make sure your dressed properly with a tie on. Monday will be easy day just filling out paper work with the entire class together. The paper work will be with a 19a Superintendent going over paper work and Etc. Later on the day you will be giving your Employee pass "Enjoy taking the buses or train unlimited" and you will be assign to a depot where you will have to report for training for the first 7 days.

**Remember don't be intimidated with the bus size or with the Superintendent yelling or critiquing what you did wrong. They have to be tough  to toughen you up.

Thank You. I really appreciate the information 😊

I m very new for this Forum. I received an E mail today for pre employment on 18th of April. unfortunately i am in vacation with my family in an other country.

Can i postpone my pre employment date after 3 weeks? Or should I cancel my trip and return to home with family?

After I read this post, I understand that,  After I finish the pre employment ( if i m eligible)  I have to wait for the medical and drug test? then wait for training classes? can anyone explain the hiring process?

The pre-employment is the drug test. Then they can call you anywhere from 3-90 days from then for medical. After you pass medical they assign you to the 7-10 day training. After you pass that you get assigned to a depot for line training.

Went in for medical today, passed, and yes they threw me in for Monday. Luckily I don't have to worry about my current employer thanks to the upcoming spring break and the fact that I was able to speak to the assistant manager, who is very cool.

It will be a little more intimidating to those getting behind the wheel of a large vehicle but you will get used to it very quickly. You do have to be mindful of the size and dimensions of the bus.

    Congratulations!! See you on Monday!

Me too, in the letter it said the training class start next Monday, funny part is they said dont resign from current job. But when u are getting some many suddenly day off and a whole 10 days training it's hard to not get fired or need to resign.

    Good Luck!!

If its possible....can you take a leave of absence from your job? ( just tell your job its for family reasons, etc.)

Thankfully I have a very understanding boss and PTO to use. I am praying that I pass the first 10 days. Thing is after u pass u must resign from your job. No 2 week notice. I hate doing that to my coworkers but there’s no choice.
