  1. How do restore your name on DCAS? I might have to do that soon, although im 62xx
  2. I just received a letter about OPA but my score is 62xx, is this the pre-employment part? Also if anyone has any information on how to put my name back on the list on DCAS or reschedule I would highly appreciate it. Thank you in advance much appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the insight. Having summers off, weekends, holidays is just too good to leave while being at the same pay as five year mta conductor. I'm literally home by 3pm and my day starts at 8am. It was once a childhood dream but things change. I do feel guilty letting this go by, but that's life, Making tough choices.
  4. Thanks for the reply! My uncle has been in 20yrs and still can get a weekends off lol.
  5. Thanks for your insight. It is a touch choice, I'm not getting any younger and having brutal schedules doesn't sound to attractive now. If i was in my early to late 20s yea i would not have questioned it, but almost at 40, its tough.
  6. Hey, so i look at it like this. Do you see yourself working that retail job in the long term, although you are making decent money? Also I understand living in Staten island can be a very hard thing commuting wise.
  7. Hey all hope all is well and safe. I need some advice or another view on this. I took this exam years back, and I'm in year 14 of being a city employee(schools) . I work 182 days a year with summers off , and make almost top pay of what a conductor makes. Now I got the email yesterday to report for conductor, but they also sent out a text to report for bus operator.. I never took that exam. Since we've all took this exam years back I've moved on with my current career I have a pension ,vested now . I'm closer to 40 now, took this exam in 2015-2016 I think, I was in my early 30s. I've always wanted to work for transit but as the years went by and I've gotten older, being sent out all over the city essentially being a rookie (lol) & having odd ball schedules doesn't sound to appealing but damn, being part of a train crew sounds fun as heck! Any advice? Thank you all in advance for your help.
  8. Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I have a good friend of mine who is a t/o and mentioned that in school car, you HAVE to pass every exam with 100% score, if not, you get the boot.
  9. List number 21xx. I looked at the pros and cons and I'm going to defer this position. I work for another city agency and I have lots of time off summers included etc. I took this exam a while back like everyone else and a lot has changed. I'm going on 15years as a city employee honestly do not feel comfortable being up front as a t/o for now, only fair to step aside and let someone else take the position.
  10. hey everyone hope all is well. I recently gotten my canvas email but due to personal and and professional issues i cannot accept the jobat this time. is there anyway to put my name back on the list for a call later down the road? Thank you in advance.

  12. How do you recertify? I see that the certification expires today, my list is 62xx. Thank you in advance.
  13. 63xx I'm a long ways to go but with a 93.xx that's why I find it very odd to be on outstanding cert.
  14. Interesting, it's odd because my number is far away from the current number they are at but hey if it's close my fingers are crossed.
  15. Thanks. I hear that if you fail a test in t/o training you are out. Is it recommended to become a conductor first to gain experience then attempt to be a t/o.
  16. Thanks for the chance to ask questions. How was the job overall (conductor), and what does "outstanding certification" mean? Thanks.
  17. Hey all, I happend to call up dcas to see where I'm at, I got a 93.75 & it mentioned that I am on outstanding certification. What does that mean? Thank you.
  18. That's the benefit, I have a decade with a city agency that makes as much a s conductor at base pay. If they take a promo test at t/o and they fail... They still at C/r position. If I take that risk and get a 99% I fail and I'm fired according to the thread and regulations also, Operator experience.
  19. Yea man in on the list for that but I rather start as c/o first and secure that before I be a t/o. One wrong answer a 99% gets hit fired. I wish the would tell this to the public to.
  20. Hey guys, I have another question. How come at times, for example an R terminates at 71st continental, and it takes a while for the conductor to open the doors, why is that? Is there a process that is happening?
  21. I have a couple friends and a relative in transit in different depts, and oddly enough they tell me the same thing. The work environment is very hostile and stressful.. Like a lot. I have a good buddy of mine a t/o, he wants to get out asap and move up and do something else due to the insane pressure. It's like every job out there though to be fair. I'm honestly thinking about it to, I have it pretty good working with another city agency, but I always wanted to be in transit. I'm in my mid 30s now I wish I would of gotten called when I was younger. Have you tried moving up in position?
  22. Stations like Suphtin Blvd and Jamaica van Wyck don't have lights on the stations, hence why I asked.
  23. Hey everyone, I have a random question that I have been meaning to ask. How does the conductor know to hold a train in the station? Are there indicators, or get radio comm from the t/o?
