  1. Off topic here but who's actually going to film the R32s tomorrow?
  2. Honestly the 32s coming back now is super legendary but you have to ask yourself.... it it worth braving the pandemic to film on the or anywhere else? There is a huge risk for the operator, conductor and passengers who are taking the subway right now as life slowly is going back to normal. Phase 3 is supposed to begin next week so there will be an increase in ridership. The subways aren't really that crowded at all now even with phase 2 open. Can someone notify if Times Square - 42 St, the busiest station, is showing signs of life with busy platforms? 😂
  3. So does this mean that a couple may pop up on the and ? Also is CBTC currently in effect on the westbound Queens Blvd line?
  4. Hey there hmm that's an interesting proposition. We all know that the R160s on the wouldn't have occurred if the R179 fleet didn't have to be pulled from service. I also don't think that the TA wants to place the R179s on the because operators are morely used to R68A's, R46's and R160s. Personally, they just wouldn't feel right. Once the returns to normal service, The R160s on the will need to go back to since it will probably have to put all 46 R160s in service when ridership increases significantly. QBL can't run old tech now because of CBTC. Again my theories and opinions here guys.
  5. Yeah, you are right. Literally survey 20 people on any platform and 19 of them won't know that train model is about to arrive. Most of the public uses it for getting from point A to point B like you said haha. Occasionally, you might find a couple transit fans(once in a blue moon lol). When I'm riding the B/D it is very hard to tell the difference and the only way I can distinguish is by looking to see if the car numbers begin with 2 or 5 for either R68/R68A.
  6. Yeah you are right and I agree but after all that's happened, I'm sure many riders are skeptical about riding the R179s. Who knows what can transpire next? When the R179s came out in 2017 they encountered so many mechanical problems then things just went downhill. The last thing we need is for another issue to occur this summer and the fleet needs to be pulled once again.
  7. Lol honestly thats a waste of money imo. Bombardier royally screwed up from the mechanical problems to brakes to doors now decoupling? What's next? I think MTA wouldve scrapped the R179s if the R211s were tested and ready to enter service but thats not gonna happen anytime soon. With phase 2 starting Monday, it'll be interesting to see if any new car assignments take place since essential service will be pretty much over.
  8. I think you said it best here my guy. Whoever thought the Transit Authority is going go scrap a brand new fleet isn't all there 😂😂
  9. My apologizes for not scrolling up and reading before lol. I just want the R179s to stay Oos so It can be all R160s on the at least unitl July. Who knows when they'll return. Honestly, it feels right now as if the is running at normal service because SubwayTime sometimes reports trains 2, 4 or 6 minutes apart even though its essential service.
  10. Holy shit balls lmao so does the even have enough R160s to run with a normal schedule?
  11. Same with the lol. People in Astoria are used to just the and for local south of 57th the is full time. Not sure why they restored these 2 lines as phase 2 isnt even open yet....
  12. There is a lot of information everywhere but I'm guessing in the next two weeks. As DJ Hammers mentioned, this was likely a single car incident so hopefully the entire R179 fleet isn't corrupt.
  13. Yeah its a weekday schedule but reduced due to essential workers/service.
  14. Goddamn this feels like pre 2010 again lol. Imo R160s on the are a much better fit compared to the R179s
  15. Hmmm interesting. How did your T/O handle the huge curve after 125th? And timers near 86 st / 81 st? Is it also true that R179s accelerate faster than the R160s?
