  1. Isn't this the third time today someone got struck by a train? There was one on the 7 line and another at Lex-125 (the latter of which was unfortunately fatal).
  2. It is interesting though: the weekend of April 12-15 had Queens-bound trains bypassing 36 St to 65th Street, with the planned work post explicitly stating to take the to 21-Queensbridge for Queens-bound service. Unless something happens, signs are pointing to an end-of-month completion of the 63rd Street reconstruction.

Someone shot at Hoyt-Schermerhorn around an hour prior with critical conditions: service is suspended Northbound service suspended between Broadway Junction and Jay Street, with limited southbound service between the two (while skipping Hoyt-Schermerhorn). Some in Manhattan will terminate at Chambers St, World Trade Center, or 2 Av - Lower East Side. All making local stops wherever it is not suspended bypassing Hoyt-Schermerhorn in both directions.
  4. trains are severely delayed and rerouted in both directions due to an electronic gap filler malfunction at 14 St-Union Sq. Service Changes: The last stop on some southbound trains will be E 180 St. Some southbound trains are running via the line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St. Some southbound trains will end at 149 St-Grand Concourse. Some southbound trains will end at 3 Av-138 St. Some southbound trains will end at Wall St. Northbound trains are running via the line from Nevins St to 149 St-Grand Concourse. There is no service between 138 St-Grand Concourse and Wall St. Listen for announcements to hear how your train will run. Travel Alternatives: For service along the line in Manhattan, take a train. For service to Brooklyn, transfer to an or train at 14 St-Union Sq. For service to Manhattan, transfer to an or train at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. For service in The Bronx, take a train. Take a shuttle bus for service between E 180 St and Eastchester-Dyre Av. I suppose simply bypassing Union Square isn't an option; the MTA temporarily suspends 4, 5, and 6 train service during late evening rush hour.

Signal problems at Prospect Park had the suspended and the rerouted via Sea Beach (and Montague going southbound) for a few hours now and still hasn't been resolved as I'm typing this. is also affected by this too in some degree. UPDATE: Not so long after I posted the above, the problem at Prospect Park was resolved and are running on its regular route with delays, although is still suspended.
  6. If the issue with the R211T not operating on express sections is due to high speeds or the time between stations, what about the tunnel section in and out of Manhattan, i.e. the Cranberry Tunnel? Is the tunnel not of concern if this entire dilemma is in fact true?
  7. Those stations are the ones the MTA had planned to install the PSDs a few years ago rights? Meaning Sutphin-JFK , Times Sq , and one of the Manhattan stations (forgot which one)?
  8. Also due to CBTC-related work according to the website, starting on the weekend of Feb 2-5 and the next consecutive weekends after that up to the weekend of Mar 1-4 (including Presidents' Day), service won't be operating to/from Jamaica Center; it will run to/from 179 St instead.

  10. Not sure whether to post this here or at Planned Service Changes, but the shuttle at 63rd Street will be suspended on the weekend of February 2-5. Instead, Jamaica-bound and trains will run through 63rd Street, with Jamaica-bound service running through 6th Avenue.
  11. On the two weeks of Feb 5-9 and Feb 12-16, Jamaica-bound will skip 75 Av, Briarwood, and Sutphin Blvd 24/7 due to CBTC installment. Jamaica-bound will stop at 75 Av and Briarwood during this period. Manhattan bound services for both lines are not affected.
  12. It's stated that West Side are making local stops down the entire 7 Av corridor. are turning at the southbound express track at Times Sq-42, so the won't interfere with terminating trains.

But really it's because switches between 34-Penn and 42-Times Sq doesn't allow northbound local to switch to the southbound local track; it only allows that train to relay on the northbound express track at 42-Times Sq, and can only switch over to the southbound express track at 34-Penn going southbound, and remain on the express heading south. Northbound express can relay on the southbound express track at 42-Times Sq to avoid conflict with relaying trains and while it can switch to the southbound express going southbound, it would conflict with the southbound . There are however switches from the southbound express to the southbound local, and with the lack of southbound local due to the switches between 34-Penn and 42-Times Sq, the would run local going southbound.
  14. Pretty sure there were already plans on replacing signals at Lexington Avenue with CPTC sometime in the future in line with R262 deliveries (which I don't think even came out of the planning stages). Lexington Avenue CBTC was pushed back in favor of replacing IND signals with CBTC first.

From what I've seen on some news site yesterday, a NIS train was bypassing the 96th Street station on the local track just as an in-service train was leaving the station on the express track on its way to switch onto the local track. The NIS train had its brakes activated somewhere on the line so the in-service train was on the express track bypassing that train, and thus they meet up at 96th Street. Since I'm merely a person on front of a screen, I'm just purely speculating it was some sort of signal error since I'm sure (someone can correct me on this) red signals should've been relayed on one of the two tracks as the switch was being used but hadn't.
  16. What zacster said above is true and is probably your best bet, but if you really want the subway, why not the ? I'm pretty sure it's easier to reach the from the Oculus than it is to the . IIRC, one of the stairs somewhere on the second level of the concourse next to the platforms lead right to the platform.
  17. 75 St only had one half of the Jamaica-bound side with new concrete platform and yellow edges while the other half still has temporary wooden flooring. Walls aren't put up yet at that station. The Jamaica-bound platform at Woodhaven Blvd has new concrete platform and the yellow edges (with the exception of the extreme ends of the platform) and like 75th Street, walls haven't been put up yet. Although I wasn't able to see it clearly, I believe the skeleton of the elevator shaft has been put up.
  18. Can someone confirm this for me? Yesterday while riding on a Coney Island-bound F, as it left Smith-9th Sts, I noticed a full-length R46 train running on the express track the opposite direction. I would assume it was out of service, but I thought I have seen actual passengers inside that train (I do vividly seeing people wearing jackets in that train as it passed by my train). I wasn't able to see the front of that train but the back had the blue K rollsign on it. Was that R46 really out of service or did it had another temporary purpose considering neither the F nor the G runs R46s at the present.

Additionally during late night hours this whole week, Jamaica-bound will run over the and will run over the to/from 34-Herald Sq also due to urgent track repairs. will stop at 14 and 23 Sts during this time.
  20. Yes apparently. Considering the MTA had sent a rescue train to evacuate passengers on that train, I don't think it was a usual "mechanical breakdown". The link to the news page I posted above stated there was some smoky conditions on that train, but I'm not sure if it's confirmed. EDIT: service is now suspended between Crescent St and Jamaica Ctr. The third rail was probably shut down.
  21. A Broad St-bound train became disabled on the Archer Avenue ramp. Service was suspended between Jamaica Ctr and 111 St. A rescue train is apparently being sent to evacuate the passengers or so I heard. Emergency vehicles and helicopters are rushing to the area right now. Part Suspended There is no train service between 111 St and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer. What's Happening? We're investigating a mechanical problem on a train near Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. For alternative service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, consider nearby trains. For service along Jamaica Ave to Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer, take a Q24 or Q56 bus. For service to the AirTrain to JFK Airport, take an or train. Transfer to an train at Fulton St or Broadway Junction. Transfer at Delancey St-Essex St to an train for connections to service in Queens.   22. Usually when parts of the is suspended north of Broadway Junction, the would terminate on the platforms (considering the switches are north of the platform at that station). I can't say why this isn't the case in this instance - maybe it has to do with the fact it was during the midday hours on a weekday?
  23. To be fair, the are only two ways to access Manhattan from Roosevelt Island, and neither is by road. I guess the MTA would rather prolong the 63rd Street construction just to give the island people direct access to Manhattan and the subway there.
  24. I'm on a Jamaica-bound at the express track at 75 Av which apparently hit someone over thirty minutes ago. I believe they may have suspended service past Forest Hills-71 by now.
