  1. I don't understand how are people supposed to take the drug test on Day 1 if they only give you like 2 days notice,

and if you are requesting an accommodation to the vaccine it looks like it will take some weeks until they approve/deny,

but then they will pull you and won't let you take the drug test until your accomodation is resolved

Yes it is unbelievable I was supposed to start on the Sunday class…

yes they let me because for day 1 the vaccine requirement was not in effect. It got in effect on the 14th of November. It’s just amazing what’s going on 🤯

What day was your drug test ?

When did you submit your accomodation request ?

I sent mines some weeks ago and they haven’t approved it yet. Went to Livingston yesterday and couldn’t do the process because it hasn’t been approved and I couldn’t stay on the building if I wasn’t vax

sorry to hear that, so because they are taking so long to approve it you missed the class, unbelievable

Did they let you take the drug test on Day 1 while you were waiting for your accomodation ?

It went smooth until the last part where I met the doctor. I did the EKG, Vision, Hearing etc. fast but then I got put on medical hold for my beard and had to go shave it off and come back to finish out the process 😑 I also had to go to Kings Court and get my disposition and come back. I'm sure a lot of people finished early but it was an all day thing for me I left close to 5 pm. But After it all I made it through and got my Photo ID / Finger printed and given my start date. Best of lucky guys

Start date is for Nov 29th Class

Congratulations Good luck on training 👍

What did they tell you about the covid vaccine requirement ?

    Thanks

That is the number. What's funny is that when I try to call the other numbers, such as 347-643-8229/30/31/32, I'm greeted with "We're sorry. Your call can not be completed at this time. Please hang up and try your call again later." Meanwhile, when I call this number after 5 PM, I get their answering machine as if the phone number works fine! Interesting, right?

I really had it with the incompetence at "employment operations", how do they screen these people that work there. I believe you don't need a high school diploma to work there it seems. You can never get someone on the phone, and when someone actually picks up they want to transfer you to someone else.

I wonder if its always been like this or has it gotten worse since reopening from the pandemic. It's a shame, the only thing I can think of that is worse than this is the corrupt politicians raping the treasury and using our tax dollars as their own piggy bank and screwing the tax payer.

I recently started training at one of the depots . Training has been going pretty well . For those of you who are waiting to hear back regarding the drug test , they say up to 90 days but they most likely will reach out way sooner. They contacted me within 2 weeks after I was drug tested. My instructor today said they’re hiring many people so continue to check your emails. As far as those who have cdl permits only , after the 7 day training they prepare you for the cdl road test. I am kinda concerned about that part because they mention you only get two tries. If you fail both times then you’re disqualified. Did anyone complete the 2 week training for the cdl road test and received the license ? If so please give any feedback or pointers ! Thanks!

Hi, do you happen to know when is the next Bus Operator class scheduled for ?

    good luck in training 👍

I start on 10/24 at 7am. But I don’t feel prepared. I really want the TA one. I am on so many list they couldn’t find my application. I spent the whole day there yesterday and did the application all over  and did so many paper work. Help me Jesus.

Did you have to show proof of covid vaccination to get hired?

Bus Operator 9618’s Notice of Examination obviously didn’t include a vaccination requirement because there wasn’t a pandemic at the time, but I don’t think they can amend an NOE after the examination is complete. Civil Service has laws and regulations but I am not an attorney.

What I do know is you can’t be disqualified for a reason that isn’t listed under the NOE otherwise they’d be stepping on a slippery slope. What they can do is include it in their NOE’s for future exams. Thats just my guess.

I’m curious to know if they will require it for new applicants who are applying for the job and not for those who are already on lists.

    agree with you 100%

I wonder if the union can use some of these points for a legal fight in the courts for new hires that have their names on these lists already.

On the new NOE for city jobs that are up in the DCAS website, it says on the requirements to be hired you must be vaccinated unless the agency has approved an exemption for medical or religious reasons.

One question that I have been thinking about is, if your name is on a list for a NYCTA title, then it falls under DCAS which is city civil service.

The city is allowing candidates to request exemptions for medical or religious reasons, if they are approved depends on each individual agency.

MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company are not DCAS so their not considered civil service.

Doesn't that make NYCTA a city agency and not a state agency like MTA ?

so if the MTA won't allow exemptions for new hires, wouldn't NYCTA have to allow exemptions for new hires since they are a city agency ?

Just got an email to return for Medical. I was told on the phone I would start for the November class if my medical goes alright. Fingers crossed.

so it seems that the October 18 class that someone else mentioned is full ?

Did they tell you what date the November class begins ?

    Good Luck in your medical.

If you are transferring to another TA title, it will be treated as a promotion. (So they will run your record) Other than that, you will be a new hire. You start from scratch in the new title. You have a year from when you transfer to the title to come back to your old one.

For OA and MTA Bus, they don’t have to honor the 1 year rule since it’s a civil service provision and those two aren’t civil service.

How about if you are hired for OA or MTA Bus and complete your 1 year probation, then you get called from NYCTA and go there,

would you then be considered as a "new hire" and start from scratch again?

    Thanks

Hey , I just got an email/automated call offering me the conductor position too; thing is , I’m already in as a track worker.

any advise as to change jobs or to stay as a track worker? I might wind up deferring to just to wait in deciding for now. I’m a bit older than most applicants and I’m interested more in a stable schedule than anything else. The on call aspect early on for conductors doesn’t sound appealing to me

Do you enjoy track worker, what are the retirement packages they offer and what are the pros and cons of working as a track worker in your opinion ?

I tried reaching out to Ms Robinson but no responses came back so I had decided to go down to Livingston Street on Thursday and they were able to help me out big time.

Hi, Where you able to just show up in person without filling out that COVId questionare and an appointment ?

If no, who did you contact to set you up for an appointment ?

    Thanks
