  1. OJT in Bronx - you will actually work and do physical labor, it will simulate what capital work is actually like. You will learn get a general feel for what actual work is. This is ideal for people who want capital and maintenance. Brooklyn OJT - you do nothing. Ideal for cleaning. *Actually cleaning does more work
  2. Medical is an all day process, even if all goes well. Make sure to have a money order for the exact amount and from the post office. The money order is last step once your hired. You have another quick drug test, a vision test, a hearing test and a ekg. Then a doctor will review results from all tests, and do a few more physical tests and ask questions. After that if you pass, you will go in for finger printing once hired. Expect to be there for most of day. I was in at 7am and left at 530. Good luck to all. Also you will take a photo for your ID pass.
  3. The 1st time contacted for pre employment was via phone call , text and email. They contacted thru text and email for drug screening. They only emailed for medical. After medical if you pass, they give you your start date, first day of class.
  4. About 2 months until you are hired in as long as drug and medical are passed. Took me a month after drug test and 3 weeks after medical until I started. Good luck.
  5. I would go to 180 Livingston and explain the situation in person. Bring all needed documents and hope for the best. I know someone who had the same situation and was able to reinstate their list number. Good luck
  6. I've heard different things as to a whole bunch of issues behind the bids and picks. There is definitely alot of confusion with the last switch over last week. Some gangs have no supervisor and some supervisors have no gang. Who knows what's going to happen as far as upcoming bids and picks. There is also another class coming in and they are being placed all over. I'll definitely keep my eyes open for those sheets in headquarters and the union posts. Thanks. Have a happy and safe holiday. Be safe out on those tracks.
  7. Appreciate the info. I've noticed that it's hard to get a definite answer in transit. The previous information I received was from a MS2, and alot of information has been wrong. Thx for the clarification
  8. They said if a position is available, we are eligible to pick. It does go by seniority so it isnt as easy as it sounds. I However there was already a mini pick that just passed and we don't expect to pick until the next big pick which is around September. I would expect to stay in your current position out of OJT until the next big pick.
  9. 24.77 is starting.. Night differential is a little over 1.00 more if you work overnight. But you can bid for a dual rate track worker and make specialist pay scale when needed. After dual rate you can bid for a specialist position permanently.
  10. Thanks, I just checked my email. I received a email with link. Appreciate the response
  11. Anyone complete the zoom class orientation?. Once you register, is it the same link used to register or a different link to attend? The instruction paper doesn't clarify and can you participate thru cellphone or need a computer/ laptop. I've never used zoom so I'm not sure how it works. Thx
  12. Make sure you have every document and READ each direction carefully. Mistakes are easily made and will set you back. If you had any surgery on any part of your body, I would see a doc and get a note / clearance for that particular surgery to ensure you are OK to perform physical work. They will test and look for issues especially with those that have / had a condition or trauma to make sure you are qualified. Don't have any tickets of any kind, in any state or any criminal charges pending. Bring the disposition papers for whatever and make sure you are out of trouble. I've seen people turned back right before they made it to be hired. Good luck
  13. It was a long wait but everything worked out and got hired in. Congratulations to everyone and good luck to everyone moving forward.
  14. I remember getting a email/text for pre employment in June. It had to be completed a few days after. I didn't hear anything until September for the drug screening. I go in for medical next week and hope to start the Nov 8 class.
  15. The list # is in order in which we will be called. So if your list # hasn't been called, just stay patient and keep checking this blog as it keeps us all updated with the hiring process. Good luck
  16. How long were you on medical hold ? Just curious if anything is needed, how much time is given since I'm from out of town.
  17. https://data.cityofnewyork.us/widgets/a9md-ynri?mobile_redirect=true Go to that website and search 08600, look for your name and it will have a list number. I believe everything up to about 899 has been contacted.
  18. It was a little over 2 weeks from the drug screening until I received the email for medical. Just make sure you have all proper documents and the pre employment forms filled out correctly. Make sure you don't have any pending tickets or summons of any kind open and if you do, pay it off before the date and have documented proof you did. After the drug screening, I would say within 30 days, you will be hired in. Good luck
  19. Thanks.. they usually called / text and leave a voice mail but this time it was an email only. Make sure to check spam inbox, it is easy to miss. Good luck
  20. Yes, medical appointment is on Monday and if all goes well, Nov 8 is the start of class.
  21. Social security card, birth certificate and state ID/Drivers license. Make sure you don't have any outstanding tickets of any kind. They won't let you take the drug test if you do. I saw three people sent home when I went for drug test. If you do have to take care of any tickets, have proof that they are handled. Good luck ** also check your spam email or keep checking your inbox, there was a link for a questionnaire that had to be completed the day before your appointment
  22. What list # are you around and how long ago was your drug test? Good luck tomorrow
  23. About how long ago was your drug test? Is your list # in the 600s?.. im trying to gauge when to hopefully expect a call fpr physical cause im catching alot of heat for taking off of my job to travel to these appointments. Thx. Good luck
