  1. So true just accept the consequences to what you did it’ll be way worse if you try to hide it
  2. That’s amazing wow I bet he’ll be a superintendent one day f up move up
  3. They all suck, spend the money get yourself some timberland boondocks they’re about $200 your feet will thank you
  4. I can’t imagine saying that either blame it on the equipment at least bad brakes or something
  5. The dispatcher told me to key by the home signal. Lmao i remember in school car my tss took us one by one up to the home signal and asked how do I key by this. I’m sure that’s pretty standard so someone didn’t pay attention
  6. Wha was the major thing? You mean that wasn’t major hooking down a home signal and splitting a switch? My god
  7. I read about 1 on instagram that was crazy I think overran station hit home signal hooked down stop arm then split the switch and did damage to the switch and the train if that was real I don’t think it could get much worse
  8. Oooo I didn’t hear that story do tell please. No seriously wtf happened I must know lol?
  9. Not to subtle I’m sure there’s some good guys in the bunch but a lot of new people shock me
  10. 2 in my class should’ve failed both practicals as for the signals only 4 aside from myself actually passed the signal tests. It was frustrating cause I studied my ass off and then they got called in the hallway with the tss coaching them like so what you meant to say was
  11. Not sure what was going on in school car but a lot of tss’s from school car came back to the road
  12. It’s because they’re getting further down the list less qualified candidates
  13. Used to be like that hasn’t been like that in a few months. A year or 2 ago was awesome it was all the ot you could handle
  14. Yes do it I said the whole time this would have been easier if I wasn’t already a train operator. Good luck to you
  15. The other issue as I previously stated is the pay it takes 4 years to beat our pay. I can’t imagine making 27 an hour
  16. True yes twice a week Saturday is 6am-2 pm and Wednesday is 5:30-9:30pm. It’s not about the days you go it’s about the amount of studying required to pass the phase 1 test which I passed and I can tell you I never studied that hard for school car it’s a lot of time and with our schedule it was incredibly challenging. Was lucky enough to have t/w rdo’s and a later start on Saturday so it worked out for me. All I’m saying is the subway train operator really isn’t that bad. My only complaint about this job really is. Tier 6 and that all city jobs including lirr
  17. We’re talking about locomotive engineer trainee for the lirr
  18. Yup the amount they ask you to study during those 6 weeks makes our schoolcar look like a joke it 6 weeks of nothing but operating rules then a 3 hour long test to possibly get to move onto the paid portion which they call phase 2 and it lasts 14 months. The starting pay is around 27. If I wasn’t already here then yes I would have stayed but for me it just didn’t seem worth it. People complain about the subway being so bad and I honestly don’t get it I’m curious to know what those people did before this and what they honestly expect from this place.
  19. The hardest part is the pay cut for 2 years I got in and left couldn’t afford the pay cut. They do have a good gig there but it really is not much better than what we have A LOT more responsibility for not that much more in pay. Their version of school car is 14 months long. Our health insurance is better they pay more in union dues and pension contributions than we do. So while the grass may look greener on the other side I didn’t think it was that much greener
  20. Where what tour? Lol I used to get offered the ot every single day. Also what kind of ot extra trips yard etc.
  21. Well school car gets harder the further down the list they get.
  22. I’ve heard this is how it’s always been they don’t hire for a while then they over hire
  23. How are they in need of anymore train operators it’s become hard to get any overtime rdo’s late clears etc. the sheets are full hardly any open job except maybe a few yard jobs that’s it. People are clearing board or coming damn close to it
