  1. Hello. Just wanted to get some feedback on the train operator position for NYCT. I have gathered on here that the first year or two can be tough. As a former postal employee, I get what it’s like to be on the bottom rung of a civil servant type job, but curious how it compares after you’re in it a few years. After one gets some seniority, what’s it like? Are you able to bid on a job or route with certain hours? How long does it take to get that kind of thing? If one wanted to work 40 hours and not get OT or only do it selectively, is that possible? Lastly, what’s the earning potential like, with or without a month of OT maybe. And if you move up? I really appreciate any insights. I’ve been canvassed for T/O but it would mean leaving a job where I make decent money, close to 6 figure earning potential, with the possibility of promotion and more money. That being said, I’m not super challenged and while I have it pretty easy for the money it’s a little boring at times. Lots of freedom though and no real pressure. But only 401k, no pension. Thanks for reading and happy new year!
