No, it's not normal... Probably came off doing a #13 before the fact.

I'd have liked to have seen an artic over there at Branch Brook myself....

It actually is. Two PM school trippers are assigned artics since the 99 runs past a bunch of different schools.

They don't send the artics into Branch Brook. Those trippers either terminate at Union Ave in Belleville (N/B) or Beth Israel Hospital (S/B).

Do those 2020-2021 MCIs at Oradell run in service on their routes or they are there for some other reason?

Reason I ask is I only see 20 year old D4000s on Oradell routes whenever I'm in Jersey or ride routes out of that depot. Isn't that the garage that can't fit 45 FT MCIs? The roster on here says that theres 20-21 MCIs assigned there....

Ops and riders of Oradell routes really got the short end of the stick, seems every other NJT garage with MCIs have fairly new units as the bulk of the fleet whereas Oradell fleet is mostly made up of 20 year old buses. I like those mini MCI with the DD60 so their old age don't bother me but I'd imagine daily riders of their routes feel different.

Yes, those 2020-21 MCIs belong to them now. Whether or not you see them a lot depends on where you are, as I've seen the bulk of them on Blvd East (165, 166, 168) or along Teaneck Road (167/177).

The garage can't hold 45' buses. But they're not using it right now since it was flooded out by Ida. They're using Garden State Plaza to stage everything, plus they're getting help from Meadowlands and Fairview IINM. However before Ida, they were making do with the space they had to squeeze what they could in that space.

    Greetings!

Unless if it was a loan OR a split operation, #9011 was on the 158 heading towards Fort Lee yesterday morning (8/3). Sorry no pictures. It was one of those moments when you see a bus and then you realize...wait a minute...then you missed that opportunity. LOL!

Not a loan or anything of the sort. Fairview has a few 9000s now on account of having to retire some of their oldest D4000s.

  4. Gotta check again tomorrow for confirmation, but it seems like Hilton may have a new artic run on the 107, and this one doesn't turn into a 126. It instead goes to PABT as a 107L and then deadheads back to Hilton around 9am.

20846 and 20848 running 159 which I believe is a Fairview route. Guess with Meadowlands getting the last batch of artics, they can start giving 20845-20849 back to Fairview.

It's tough to tell. Meadowlands got some pieces of the 156/158/159 recently, so those buses may not have left there just yet.

Just wanted share this on the forum.... This was brought to my attention by @checkmatechamp13

There's not too many NJ guys here, but for those of you that are, what are your thoughts about this random guy's assessment of the NJT #419? This is proof that you shouldn't assess an entire route off one freakin trip..... It's basically, train good, bus bad.

Well let's start off with the fact that this guy pretty much rode a bus at 7:45am on a Sunday. Maybe no one was on it because half of whatever ridership that's on that line was I dunno sleeping.

Hell, I've read somewhere a good while back (not too long after the 2013 changes to some of our [as in, NYC's] bus routes) that Academy was pulling this shit with NJT, and even then I wasn't surprised..... smh....

I remember this too. It's one of a few times Academy got caught playing fast and loose with NJT's buses.

Question is, will this be the last straw?

My best bet is once the XD60s hit Fairfiew routes, 28010 will go to Hilton.

They may hold onto it similar to how Meadowlands still has 20801.

20865-20868 have been inspected. Through 20854 now in service.

I assume these are also going to Fairview, no?

Also per FB, the 1 and weekday 70 are now running with articulated buses on certain runs.

Not any more. 20850-20852 just rolled into Fairview and they may also still have 20822. Right now the priority seems to be to get those remaining old Neoplans out of Fairview.

Funny thing is they arrived not even 8-9 hours after I posted this.

20822 has returned to Hilton. I'm guessing what happened was they had an issue with 20810 and borrowed 20822 for a short time. It's back at Hilton now.

20849 is currently running on the 156R. Must be an interesting sight (have XD60s ran on that route before?)

Seems Fairview likes pulling out the new XD60s at night

They have run on there. Meadowlands has runs on each of Fairview's lines except the 154.

That's a Meadowlands bus. Fairview only has 20810. Their portion of the order will arrive after Meadowlands gets their 25 buses.

    That's Orange territory, not Hilton

It is, but that doesn't mean they should do it. If a line terminates near or at a garage, it doesn't necessarily mean it should belong to said garage. Especially in Orange's case given that the 88 has historically been a motorcoach line and they have no space to store any MCIs there.

Also, keep in mind that whether this line or any other DeCamp line ends up being taken over hinges on NJT getting the federal funding they have been asking for to keep them operating the way they are now.

They seem to have a pretty solid network in terms of areas served (I don't think ridership will ever fully return to previous levels, as work-from-home becomes more prevalent, but I think there will be enough demand to sustain the routes in general). I could see for example, a #33/44 combination, a #33G/66 combination, and the #88 being run by NJT.

I can see that too. Question is, if that happens which garage is gonna take it? The 88 is unique in that it begins/terminates in Orange/East Orange, which I guess could put it in Hilton territory.

Specifically for the Trader Joe's, IDK (but I do concur with the sentiment btw).... The question I have regarding the #13 is, why are there so many #13B trips overall on the #13? I guess what I'm driving at is, while there should still be #13B's, why don't they have more #13B's run as #13C's & why they don't have more #13C's ending at/around Clifton Commons itself?

North of Newark-Broad, TBH, IDRC for how NJT handles the #27 overall.... You mention having #27R's ending at Newark-Penn... I would do away with the #27F & the #27N (which is why I'd have one of the #13 branches cover Mt. Prospect ↔ Union)... The #27 would be a route, unbranched, running between Irvington & Bloomfield Center via Branch Brook LRT.... Trips would be divided into either [short turning at Newark-Broad] or [running the full route to Bloomfield Ctr.]....

    1. Ridership past the garage (toward Clifton) isn't that heavy. The 13 carries the heaviest between Belleville and Newark. Pre-covid, it used to be one of the buses that carried the schoolkids between the residential areas and downtown to the private school (can't remember where exactly it is, I just know that when I've taken it in the afternoon around 2-3 I've been on 13Ns where I've seen ridership begin to drop off the closer to the bus garage it got, namely after the bus crosses the Newark/Belleville border at Washington Ave & Mill St. I can't necessarily speak on the 13C as that's the only branch I haven't been on yet.

    2. I agree with this. You could even rebrand the current 13M to be the 13M North Newark Verona Ave via Mt. Prospect Ave. as opposed to it just running up Broadway to Verona Ave and looping around to terminate at Mill St. Usually the 27F (the branch that serves Mt. Prospect all the way to Forest Hill) tends to be extremely crowded (well....used to be), so running some of the 13s up that way would help alleviate some of that crowding on the 27s going to Bloomfield or Delawanna.
