  1. what time does it come out? I'm looking to catch it during the week sometime.
  2. Its a handy way to store mental notes I guess. the (E)/(F) arent too bad out there. The LIRR isnt that bad, they have the same seats on Metro-North. I find the Shoreliners to be less comfortable than the C3s since the shoreliners' windowsills are too high to rest your arm on. Ive been on plenty of long trips on those Shoreliners, I went to Waterbury, Wassaic and Poughkeepsie before. Somehow Metro North seems more expensive to go out on long trips with. I remember paying like almost 40 bucks round trip for waterbury but greenport didnt seem that much.
  3. Its happened to me many times, and I just move on, but still its like a crappy thing to do to someone, and something I would never do to anyone else.
  4. What about if one of your friends finds a (boy/girl)friend thats a real jerk and winds up pushing you away from your friend?
  5. For that kinda money I could get me an iphone 5 and a new Toyota
  6. Botanical Garden Station is hardly recognizable. Where were those outdoor platforms? Also Franklin Ave too got a huge redesign that made it totally unrecognizable from what it used to be.
  7. to activate stealth mode on Safari on a Mac, go to the Safari menu, between the Apple menu and File and select Private Browsing To clear your cache on Safari, go to the Safari menu, between Apple and File and select Preferences. Then go to the Privacy tab, and hit the button Remove all Website Data. It'll remind you that it will log you off the sites you are logged into, confirm that and it should log you out.
  8. uhhh hey baby... huhuhuhuhuh heh heh
  9. you're lucky you came back in one piece, that place is an absolute war zone.
  10. years ago the Pizza Hut Express meal was like $5-6 now its almost $8 bucks.
  11. i would much rather new york be known as a place that tourists want to come visit and feel safe than a place where they are unwelcome and its dangerous for them to be there like other cities.
  12. I was up by 241 Street getting yard photos
  13. I've never been to Canarsie, but Wakefield I was up there once, it did not seem like middle class at all. Its no Bedford Park or Schuylerville.
  14. A lot of those neighborhoods that we consider ghetto today used to be middle class areas like Fordham, Flatbush, Canarsie, and Wakefield but then those people moved out to the suburbs. But now generations later the people who grew up in Nassau and Suffolk are winding up back in Brooklyn and Queens, and the working class people in the city wind up moving down south where the cost of living is lower. Its interesting how higher gas prices and insurance costs have started to reverse a trend thats been going on for decades.
  15. There are still artists and stuff in those neighborhoods, its not like that creative vibe left. Its like Haight Ashbury in San Fran they still got music stores and people smoking weed there and stuff, but its easier for people from all over to come visit now. What we are seeing is a return back to the city from the suburbs, a reversal of the flock to the suburbs that happened in the 1970s.
  16. If Front Populaire is the latest station, and in Paris they are big on those platform screens, why was that station built without them?
  17. I greatly prefer the current Manhattan to the mess it was years ago. A trip to the city is something that everyone can enjoy now and people come here from all over to visit. People don't have to worry about their safety when visiting and living in the city* * Yes there are unsafe areas but they are a small fraction of the city compared to how things used to be.
  18. Its hard to imagine today but back then the city was concentrated in lower manhattan, and the buildings were no more than 5-6 stories, owing to the limited building technology of the 1700s. North of that area in Manhattan there were farms and small houses, which is why they needed a grid, to make it easier to divide up the land. http://myinwood.net/the-last-working-farm/ one of the last farms in manhattan, which disappeared in the 20s
  19. the blocks are longer on the west side, Lexington and Madison were added into the plan later on, originally it was 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, Park (4th Ave), 3, 2, 1. Madison was added in the block between 5 Ave and Park Ave, and Lexington was added in the block between Park, and 3 Ave. The streets in Downtown Manhattan are much much older, than the streets uptown which was part of a specific plan in the 1800s
  20. A quick sketch I did to show what it would be like if heaven forbid the Subway gets platform screens.

Why was the 62 on the 1 in the first place? Is it because of 62A SMS?

I think....I'm not sure. All I know is that there was a set of R62As and a few extra cars transferred from the 1 over to the 7. I think the SMS had something to do with it as well.
