  1. One failed in my class. YX is going good for me. Only thing about it is your tours and/or RDOs change from week to week, so thats a bit tricky, but at least it is only for 3 months. They will *try* to keep you close to where you live.
  2. Congrats! The signal exam is easier than one thinks. There is just so much hype to that exam since you can't get anything wrong. The second practical should be easy now that the hard part is done.
  3. When the N went express, Broadway had 2 locals. After the 2010 cuts, Broadway still has 2 locals.
  4. B- to Bedford Park all day during the weekdays only. See my thread for details. It will still not run on weekends if D service was increased.
  5. You will also be making moves in the yard when you are yard posting. The 3 months afterward, you are yard extra (YX) and must contact the crew office for your assignment each day. Your first week of YX is yard familiarization, when a TSS in that yard familiarizes your class with each yard.
  6. I don't know if this was discussed on here before, so I'm putting this out here for discussion. A couple of my friends were discussing about the problems that occur when the B terminates at 145 during the mid-day. Consider this scenario: if there was a B in the middle track at 145, that B would have to wait until a southbound D clears 145 to leave. At the same time, there is a northbound B at 135 waiting to enter 145 and a northbound C at 125 which has to wait for that B to leave as well as a northbound D. Once the southbound B leaves 145, then the northbound B can enter 145, but the northbound D has to wait at 135 and an A behind the D has to wait at 125. This could create a lot of tie-ups. Also in addition, if a southbound B is leaving the middle track at 145, a southbound D can't enter the station until the B has left. One solution is to extend the B to Bedford Park outside of rush hours. There would be less conflicts and delays. Any thoughts, please feel free to comment!
  7. Congrats on passing your first practical! It also depends on the grade when you begin to take a brake.
  8. There are some R143s which still have the V, W and the brown M.
  9. It was probably a layup going to the northbound express track. It changes ends at Continental and switches to the northbound express.
  10. If your practical is in Jamaica Yard, it will be on a R46 more than likely. Remember your BCOs, if one is cut out, check your MCOs and radio the dispatcher before you cut it in.
  11. There are track indication signals entering Stillwell Yard.
  12. I go with what the second TSS says. They want see if you know what the concept of the top mast is since it describes the condition of the track ahead. As for the "restricted speed and extreme caution" with a red signal, it is good to put broken rail, track occupied or any other obstruction in the block.
  13. The track identification is also part of the first practical.
  14. They are better off staying on the 1 since by the time you go up the stairs, then go on the elevator, walk down the passageway, and down the stairs and wait for the 1, they could have already been at 137 Street!
  15. And yet there is no M program to Jamaica Center upper.
  16. The R68 and 68A Cs were trains that usually run on the B from Concourse Yard. It was used as a concert special (similar to a baseball special).
  17. Rockaway Boulevard on the A should be renamed to Cross Bay Boulevard IMO. The A already has enough Rockaways to deal with.
  18. Your E probably stopped at 75 Avenue because there was a E that terminated at Union Turnpike in front of your train.
  19. I saw one last year (March I think) signed for Rock Park.
  20. The "One hundred and fourty-fifth Street" sounds like the person from the E.
  21. There is the Q10 bus if you don't want to spend $5.
