  1. I hope the TA hurries up, and swap the R32 and R42 with the Atlantic Ocean, and get their R179's in, as they suppose to be doing soon. I hate seeing the rust lines and spots around the top of the R42's. I do love the R46s on the A line though. For something from the mid 70's, it is wayyyy better, and the heating is wayyyy better, still yet, than something from the mid 80's (R68,R68A)............

  2. Congratulations to those who are coming off the street, and into the subway. Hopefully I will get to see some of you all, and some become my student(s) on the PM tour. I had three in the A Div, and no one made me squeeze my cheeks tightly together yet. Don't need to explain why I have a dirty uniform. On thing I do, is teach how to go through timers, without braking at every one. That is one thing I learn when I get on a line. Makes it easier, to know where you are working, and if you get a student. Important things to do is, get plenty of rest, be alert, listen and learn. You will be taught alot. Signals are a must pass, and they aren't playing around. Sadly lots of promos, got sent back, for failure to write down correctly, what a signal aspect means. Don't fly through yellows, and brake hard before reds. Once you see yellow, start braking, and if a train is in front of you, start pacing, and gaping yourself. Try to get that yellow to go green. As a Superintendent in schoolcar said, and I live it to this day. "Keep riding yellows, and one day, you WILL hit a red........"

  3. Maybe the C will now become a 10 60ft car line, and the 40 cars that will give us 5 trains, will replace the rust buckets on the J/Z lines. Last time I counted, which was a few months ago, they had between 5 to 6 trains of R42's for the J/Z lines, which I usually only seen two to 3 actually used for service. The others were spares........

  4. I don't really think there will be any full 11 cars trainsets of R188s made for TA. I think they will be R142As from the 6 line, with a CBTC compatible B car added to make 11 cars. People here sound as if they want to see a brand spanking new full 11 car train on the 7 line. As the pics I took show, the R188 will be both converted R142A, just renamed, and another CBTC compatible B car added, to make 11 cars. I don't think it will be nothing more, or nothing less. Hopefully they replaced those traction motors from the formerly named R142A cars, that are becoming the R188s, since WES yard didn't seem to care if the worked or not.........

  5. More pics.......

Was on track next to them today, it was nice out, so I went in and got pics of interior. New passenger seats also, as they have a blue plastic covering, as they put on new seats. They will take protective covering off.....

  6. Junius St station on the (3), is already tight for 10 51ft cars. It may need some extention, but some of the others are quite long. It would be nice to have 60ft cars. I see you did ask about 60 cars, but you did not mention if you meant, 60ft cars that are 10ft wide, or 60ft cars that can be 9ft wide, for IRT width. With them updating the platform edges now, they should have updated it to be able to handle 10ft wide cars, for the future. Then add on an 6 inch extention, for the current IRT cars.......

  7. Come on, plenty of us are adults already.

No, no matter if you say please with ice cream and a cherry on top, lol!!!!

If my ex-hard drive didn't fry, I would have plenty of ex-side girlfriend "nice" pics for my desktop background. Cause of that, I was forced to go into those virus ridden websites to get some pics for screen-savers, and a desktop background...........

Yes, I'm a filthy human being, n proud of it......

  8. Bus Operators have to wear the approved MTA shoes, or sneaker type shoes. There is a variety you can choose from. If you wear your own, and get hurt, tough sh!t (plain and simple).........

T/O's and C/R's do not have mandatory footwear. Jah stated what can be worn. If you want the TA shoes, the store is Saf-Gard, and is located on Roosevelt Ave. The stop to get off is 61st on the (7)<7>, and it is a few blocks east. These shoes are known as the "Frankenstein Boots". I have two, and wear them. Reason is, well they don't hurt when walking on the ballast in the yards. But they are heavy........

  9. We will see what happens after those 78 NGs hit KB (which could happen by months end). I saw them doing training this morning and the bus hadn't been jacked up so its a sign of things to come. WF is the real mess with those 76-7800s whitebacked and lookin dirty and old as hell.

Just like the couples I have been seeing lately on the platforms, white backs are attracting alot of black backs..........

  10. Well Kingsbridge is still the home of the Dawgs, and gots nuttin new in that Orion VII NG order. It is hands down the worst in OA, and I would say now has a running for worst in the MTA system. At least LGA has newer buses........

  11. So progress on the NG's seems to be coming along at a better pace. But get this! The fisrt batch to be delivered will have the old hybrid system! What's up with that??? Aparently the upgraded system with A123 lithium ion batteries won't make it into our NG's untill 2009! Stay tuned for an "old" NG!

Hopefully, MTA will have the price of the bus dropped now. You pay more for a newer system, not the same for an older one.......

Saying that, MTA should had split the order between Orion and New Flyer (no matter if they use two different systems). Competition usually get things moving. But to not get a dud, due to faster building of the buses (one trying to beat the other), after one of each is built, test them for 60day (not 30), and get the kinks out. After this have them built. One will always be faster than the other, and will have less problems.....This is what I say......

  12. Our O7 NG's will be unique. They have options never before seen on a line haul transit bus, unlike any other NG operator. These buses will basicly be custom made for MTA.

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for breakdowns, and lack of buses, as the new Hybrids will be needing alot of TLC. I can see many teething problems, with this unnecessary crap in these buses. If MTA was smart, they would have ordered Orion Vs for the areas that have hill problems for hybrids (with the Cummins of course), and ordered NG hybrids for places that can handle them. But no, they have to be the MTA.........

yeah exactly aren't most buses suppose to have more than 40 seats to become a standard buses.

It's the TA. Who's gonna tell them different. Nobody that's who........

  13. Yep, it's brand new and has a revised rear end with a raiser. There was a lot of talk at the roadeo about it being built to MTA specs or not. I think it was built to (demo specs). We may see pull cords on the new buses.

More expensive sh!t for MTA to maintain. Can you say OOS???????

  14. Then if true this is just another demo bus, maybe (if true) that is why MTA is testing this Gillig. Full size tires = better ground clearance, and maybe since Orion can't be on time (running on black peoples times (this is another shot at you the poster Orion also B):P:P), they decided to checkout Gillig. If Orion can't be on time, then it seems someone is breaking contract rules to get buses built properly on time. That 700-800 bus order from Orion, might be cut........

  15. Sadly the wash in Castleton is damaging the buses so its best to put somewhere temporarily until problems are fixed.

Surprised they didn't send them to KB then.......... STI damages them, give them to the home of the snail dawgs.........

  16. MOST likely the CAS batch will end up @ CS. CS needs to replace the remainder of their 1993 O5's for retirement. I also believe the Yukon delivery could go as planned, so that they could replace 9382-9429 going back to FLATBUSH (where they belong).

As far as other depots, I THINK GH/WF/QV could also receive these buses.

I COULD BE WRONG! can someone clarify which depots are slated to receive delivery of the NG O7's?

WF needs no new buses. They got plenty of new artics, and a massive fleet of CNG buses, which aren't that old. KB and GH needs new buses asap........But it's up to the bosses on who gets what.........

  17. As long as this demo bus passes the street inspection they could start coming in August or sooner. But if it doesn't...............

Oh well, I hopefully won't be there to enjoy the new beese anyways.......
