  1. Since they feel their self-worth is all shot to hell, they figure they bring everyone else down along with them.... this is a main part of the reason you have people embellishing or being indiscreet about their sexual escapades, whether privately or publicly..... Some people NEED sex to validate themselves as a person... As sad as that is. The idea that someone bothered to engage in "interpersonal relations" (lol) with that person, makes that person feel wanted.... which gender moreso than the other, has no bearing in this either....
  2. Sometimes you have to... because people are f**kin stupid. What I hate more than that is, having to dumb down my vocabulary so people can comprehend what I'm telling them.... Worse than that, for example.... You can say something simple like "excuse me", and people will look at you like you're stark raven nuts.... but nudge someone without sayin somethin as you're trying to maneuver around him/her, and you'll get a slew of angry stares (& depending on the person, a few snide [and/or vulgar] remarks).... only a meager part of why I initially posted/answered in this thread... that people, in general, annoy me...
  3. R160 foamers are the reason I have a subtle disinterest in the R160's themselves, over any other trainset.... it's like, when people run things in a whole, they keep mentioning it over and over and over and over again... it gets redundant, frustrating, and outright annoying - to the point where you grow an unfondness for whatever the subject is, that keeps being raved over.... so I feel where BZ is coming from in his initial reply on this page:
  4. Understandable. That's just like back on RD where ppl. OD'd on all the name (member handle) changes.... ...and to answer your question, I have a few.. but the main one that came to mind as I made that last post, was The General.... (after having made that post in that astronomical kid thread)
  5. hah... You didn't know I'm second, only to the late great George Carlin.... anyway, now that you mention it, can users request, (or change their own) member titles on here? we got some mind readin goin on in here... that's exactly what I was thinking when I made post #305 in this thread... good use of alliteration there btw...
  6. lmao !! sounds like you wanna settle it with a... Duel
  7. haha... big homie Fresh Pond right here... I'll elaborate on your point... ...they take it seriously too.... like, if they lose a doo-ool to a n00b, it's a hit on their pride & self-worth.... same goes for the loser ass 30 somethings in the basement of their mamma's house playing ps3 with like 2000 trophies.... got the full headset/earpiece & everything... "yeah man, I got another trophy playing ______", quite the accomplishment... madden '10 doesn't help me grow into the man that I envision myself being before the day I die... and dueling sure as hell won't get me this super-bad chick (brains & beauty... as opposed to brain & booty) I'm tryna get with right now... something these "afraid to step into reality" ass cats might not NEVER know nothin about....
  8. No one really stole pokemon cards; they stole the coinage that was used to do all that flipping... Not saying it's anymore right, but I'd say 8 times out of 10, the yugioh cards that you hear kids stealing from other kids... were stolen to begin with.... yes, the card theft ring (I like to call it) that went down when playing yugioh TCG was prevalent/popular, was rampant... I aint implying otherwise, my dude... Nothin worse than a thief in any regard.... but if push came to shove, I'd rather lose a card (which wasn't mine in the first place) over actual money....
  9. surf up & down the coastline in seafoam islands... you see some kind of strange something-another in the opponent pokemon area, and you just bounce.... the result was, you duplicated w/e item you had in the 6th slot in your item bag (+) 99 times... put a rare candy there... level up EVERY pokemon in your squad to lv 99 (including the ones you threw in box16 that you never used in a battle).... put a nugget in that slot & sell them shits afterwards; 99x nuggets, you had 999999 yen just like that... ash was ballin... man, that glitch got me into playing pokemon on gameboy!! pokemon crystal was my shit.... I spent countless months playing that game... when the leafy green & fire red series came out, I stopped messin with pokemon... and after that, it got to a point where you had to catch like 400 pokemon; think it was pokemon diamond or somethin... nah anhh... bump all that... it took long enough catchin the first 151 on red/blue... a dude aint have time for that no more, and all the kids round the way started gettin into xbox & PS2 & shit, so I couldn't steal; ermm, "trade" pokemon either.... trip down memory lane... thanks for that. I'mmmm Musssskk Raaatttt, Biiiittttccchhhh !!!!
  10. yeah, but have you ever played the card game? you gotta admit, that shit is bootycheeks compared to the other trading card games out... too many kids done got they quarters taken from them while playing pokemon tcg...
  11. I knew this chick back in college that said she "did what she had to do" to keep a 4.0.... and I aint talkin bout no v8 twin engine either.... sad part is I believe her too. the things some people do to give some head in life.... wait, that was supposed to read... get ahead in life. yeh, that's it... get, ahead....
  12. that's b/c those same people don't (or aint never) work, or go to school themselves... that ole broke nigga mentality.... this is why they say, the devil always finds work for idle hands
  13. If this has to do with you, and what went down in the train thread... C line named NYC's worst subway line Sometimes people need tough love to get back on the track of Sanity.... With, the capital S.
  14. Touche..... I've also come to that same conclusion.... It aint much of a "trip" for me when I can wake up out of my bed, leave the house w/ sleep in my eye, in flip-flop's & a wife beater & pull off the same itineraries some of these dudes post up.... I can't 'fan in NYC (within the 5 boroughs) for a whole day... However, I've done a couple trips where they took longer than 24 hrs.... 1 of them, I didn't eat anything the whole day.... that's how focused I get sometimes.... Best way I can explain it, is.... You kinda sorta (w/ no real intent) condition yourself to do it... not that it's something that you even want to do, but if you've been on a couple of lenghty trips of the sort, you (well, I) go by, how my body feels after taking 'x' amount of buses or whatever.... like, "yeah, I think I can endure about 3-4 more full routes, etc etc"... and then I do what I like to call "the home stretch", where you start to think about once you get back into nyc, after having been OOS (state), what modes do you want to take to get back home - for me, it's usually the express bus... seldom do I take the subway home on a saturday night/sunday morning after a long fantrip .... ^^ I know that sounds geeky as all-hell, but aye, it is what it is... when I used to go fanning between [the time I graduated (college)] & [before I started working], I had this thing where I would ALWAYS leave the house before 7am... I didn't want to run into the rush hour crowd b/c: a] the crowds themselves, and.. b] it made me feel like, yo, these people are going to school, these people are heading to work... and here I am on the same train, hustlin to catch a [MNRR/LIRR train in the opposite of peak direction].... just to bus/railfan.... It's an awkward feeling... On the flipside of that, I couldn't just sit @ home checkin out newspapers & sifting through webpages on the internets 4-5 hrs a day, every weekday; sometimes you need to unwind from the stress of searching for a job, and fanning was my way of doing it.... real spit....
  15. well, I liked thomas the tank engine 17 years ago....
  16. I won't go as far as to say I'm done, but on the real, there are times I do feel like that... that's why back in late 08 - most of 09, I started fanning out in connecticut; namely stamford's routes... this year I tackled norwalk, and some of bridgeport... next year I'll hit up hartford (which is gonna suck, since I have to take amtrak to get there) & new haven.... The rest of this year, I'm going to venture into more of central/southern NJ (by bus, I'm talking about).... If I were to spend time outside of the tri-state area, it won't just be for fanning purposes... but I'd like to check out tampa (again), as well as orlando, and miami (again).... also va. beach & the carolinas..... as far as your foci goes, Boston I'll never visit again... Baltimore I've been to on a few occasions, had an aunt that lived out there... and Atlanta I never cared much for... furthermore, didn't know you were in law school... good luck with that btw, fam.
  17. I'm not much of a people person anyway, but after having heard (well read, you know what I mean) about what goes on, on a portion of these r/f trips in posts back on subchat/straphangers, I definitely didn't want to partake in any of the ones that were "broadcasted/plastered" on the transit forums.... that, plus I personally was never big on the photography part of the hobby.... I go on the premise that, you're bound to get into some type of trouble, the more people you hang around.... little thing called peer pressure.... others may disagree w/ that, but w/e.... plus shit, you get more of what you want done when you're by yourself anyway... hate the feeling of having someone wait on me, and I definitely hate waiting for other people..... Yeah, I can see where r/f-ing w/ others would be more about the people than the actual rides themselves.... way I see it, you don't know these people from a hole in the ground.... that's why Solitude is what it boils down to for me.
  18. - the fact that I used love sitting in the back of the fishbowls... - my interest in bus & subway maps... street maps as well... - my interest in wanting to know what bus/subway route went where in every borough (that eventually expanded into, every route in every neighboring counties... and recently, routes in cities in the east coast....) as a kid, I drove my parents nuts in asking them "where does the flatbush av bus take you"... "where does the utica av bus take you"... "where is Kensington cortelyou rd" (this is after having taking the B67 so many times w/ my father to get to his apt. in park slope)... "where is 2-4-1 street wakefield?" (looking at the rollsign on the redbirds) ^^ speaking of which, I got a story about that last one... I was about 12-13... I was angry at my moms for something; think it had to do with coming inside early or something... so I stormed out the house & walked to nostrand & rode the ... with head in my lap, I looked up, and realized I was in uncharted territory... simpson street? I think I'm in the bronx... so this is the bronx (mind you, it was snowing that day, me & my bright ass skyblue carolina panthers jacket)... my anger turned into nervous excitement (don't know how else to put it)... decided to ride to "2-4-1 street", I heard the sound of the exertion of the air brakes & someone saying last stop... I looked up into the sky with (happy) tears in my eyes... last stop... I'm here... I did it... I get off, see a couple undesirables, but that didn't phase me none (same ish I see along church av)... I start walking down WPR, and I notice I see a bus with a blue & yellow color scheme with a big ass bee in the back... I don't see buses like that back in brooklyn.... anyway, I eventually walked to E. 180st (yeah, long walk for a 12 year old, I know) & took a back home.... That was the day where my interest in transit grew Exponentially.... it got to a point where I started collecting transfers from different routes (the blue & orange paper ones)... then the white ones (same ones we have today).... sat there & studied each route on each boroughs respective map, plus the subway map as well.... you'd have thought I was studying to be a future operations planner or something.... - the above point, expanded into wanting to RIDE every bus route/[subway, or railroad] line in every borough, neighboring counties... won't go as far as to say, every state... but I'm currently working on fanning in connecticut & new jersey.... Way I see it, this is how you learn about different cities also, which is another little interest of mine.... Now I'm a 28 year old full grown transit nut
  19. beat me to it... Your chances are higher when you press 0, as opposed to pressing nothing, in order to get an actual person on the line.... the good thing is, you can press it at anytime, to cease the automated/recording..... I find that pressing nothing will leave you on the phone.... hearing nothing (after all the automated BS finishes)... then eventually, you'll hear a dial tone; meaning that you got hung up on or whatever.... I used to just press any random number, just to get someone... come to realize that just about everytime I did it (after explaining the reason why I'm calling), I would always get put on hold... and told that I would get transferred to "someone that can better assist me"... ...yeah, bullshit.
  20. well, that brings the long island crowd directly to the casino... surprised hampton jipney haven't thought of doing this...
  21. surprised no one mentioned megabus/megawang in any of their lists... now that guy was NYCTF's resident nuisance (putting it VERY mildly)
  22. ...now if only the invasion was heading in that direction.
